That room is good to create fake rumors like if you manage to kill the ghost, a 3rd castle will emerge and you will go over 100% map completion, etc I can totally see that happening if this was in the early 2000s and the internet was just starting. I can recall lots of BS game rumors. L is real 2401, run around the fountain clockwise and anti-clockwise 64 times to unlock Luigi.

Haven't been here for a while, but I have to chime in just for that Invert footage. Talking about excitement, ahh.
I mean, look at that sky background. IT'S BEAUTIFUL. Really, the graphics improvement in a whole is surely night and day.
Miriam doesn't have shadows but it's no big deal, most likely some shaders are turned off for debugging / testing.

freddythemonkey In a 2016 interview with Miyamoto, Joshua Wittenkeller actually asked him about that quote. Miyamoto clarified, "What I meant to say is that if you release a game in a bad state, you will always regret it." So yeah, I think I more or less agree with you when you say the original quote probably shouldn't be treated as an absolute. I think, especially through a modern lens, the quote speaks more about Nintendo's philosophy towards patches than anything else. Their games have occasionally had a serious issue that needed patching (like in Skyward Sword and Pokémon X/ Y), but they generally like to try and get it right the first time (I believe the Hollow Knight devs mentioned this when working with them to get their Switch port out, but I couldn't find the interview :'c). Reviewers generally don't re-review games after patches come out, but even if they did, I think it would still be hard to deny the power of a first impression. No Man's Sky Next generated quite a buzz recently, most are positive. It's hard, but it's still doable.

Well put as always dareka . Sure, something I consider important is not something that another backer would care at all. That's the hard part of communication I think, everyone wants to know what they want to know which means basically, well, everything. We all know that's not possible, so... I really appreciate what our community management team has done so far, but there are more challenges ahead (or right now).

If you mean that the game could end up being released very late into 2019, I'll concede that's a possibility, albeit unlikely. As I've said in the post above, personally I'm not worried about anything about the actual release date. IGA can take whatever time he wants to polish Bloodstained and I can't be any happier. Agreed. Yes, I'm well aware of the "invisible delay" you've mentioned a long time ago on the forum (it's on the first delay IIRC), that's why I'm not surprised at all to see the second delay and I'm totally okay with it. This is an explanation I can resonate with, but this explanation shouldn't come from you or me or anyone else, it should come from devs. If IGA says in the video "sorry we can't give you a more specific release window because our team is still very small and might not have enough resources to meet the deadline", I might not have any doubt at the beginning. I can understand that sometimes vagueness is the necessity, but not on something important like this. Pure Miriam also got a good point on the communication side of things, we really need more information right now, so more updates please...?

Most of the time, I agree with the speculation from dareka about updates, but this time, to me, "a year" seems like too big a window for a project that has been in development for 3 years straight. Time estimation is rather meaningless in the initial development stage because there are so many things could happen. But if the main game is completed, it shouldn't be hard to estimate the time window for polishing and adjustment, including consuming all the feedbacks, optimizing for a specific console, etc. etc, since there shouldn't be much to be changed, unless: 1. They need to modify the game's basic building blocks for some critical problems.I highly doubt this possibility though, anyone that has ever been in software development knows this only happens when the manager knows nothing and doesn't care about the development at all. Or, more simply, they haven't finished the main game yet. 2. The alpha demo released this year is so poorly received that they have to redo a lot of things from the ground up.The game is finished, but it's not people wanted. 3. The main game is not completed yet.I hate to say it, but this is my guess right now. All in all, it's not about the "accuracy" of the estimation, it's about whether the product manager has a confident schedule of the product. The "2019" statement, however, is not a positive sign. As for the delay itself, I'm personally fine with 2019 (or even longer as long as the project keeps going & has the funds), but I do agree that we should know more about the progress on the project, at least right now, all the vague statements would only cause backlash on the project, which we don't want to see. As a fan and a backer myself, I would love to hear anything about the project, not only triumphs but also difficulties. About Vita, it's not surprising at all, but I seriously doubt anything that has been done about that platform, including the engine port.

Angel-Corlux Just reporting, the Japanese paragraph about side-mission of Lindsay is misplaced in the "Retro spin-off game" section. One thing that bothers me is going up/down stairs in the video, I suspect that the team is using a normal running animation as a placeholder or the stair itself is not finished yet, but watching Miriam's boots sinking into the stair floor is kinda weird.

I LOVE PIXEL ART, and of course NES.
Recently I stumbled upon the idea of creating a pixelated horror game on NES. Actually, I've already started fiddling around cc65 (a C compiler for 6502 CPU) and able to run some of my little experimental code on the emulator, but as I don't have much free time right now, the project is currently on hold lol.

XombieMike Sadly the game market as I see it has already accepted the whole microtransaction + lootbox / gacha formula, and to be honest we can't blame them. We have to admit, those highest grossing games are almost all on the mobile platform, with microtransactions that feature at least some level of those gambling elements. Game companies are companies after all. It's their main pursuit to make more profit. If they want to devote themselves to the mobile market, that's fine. They might lose our support, but they also might make more money than ever. It's just the way that Konami does this transform is extremely lame and heart-breaking, which didn't help at all, if they want to stay at the game market. Now that the brand is stained (no pun intended), I doubt that anyone who loved Konami before would ever support them again financially, unless they worked really really hard on winning our trust back, which we all know at this point it seems impossible. There's no one to blame for the transition IMHO. Gamer or not, we're all human, and it's the human nature that makes us covet shiny pretty rare items, make us love gambling. EDIT: Yes, there's law enforcement targeting at lootboxes, but that's more like an external factor, which might have some impact, but I do believe game companies will eventually figure out some way to deal with it, just like the formation of ESRB in the 90s.

1. DSLevantine We're on the same page. An armored Valkyrie is a sexy Valkyrie, also check out Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere (I don't know but I'm referring her at least 3 times IIRC). EDIT: Oh by "sexy" I mean attractive, not really in an actual sexual way but attractive. 2. Detailed designs are always welcomed, just keep them under the budget lol. I think IGA would handle this well. 3. Wow, I didn't know Werebat transformation from OoE will make Shanoa naked, I thought she's wearing a latex bodysuit or something. Succubus from SoTN would be enough for me, but you might want to cover the breasts. See Morrigan from Darkstalkers. 4. The female version of Alucard. That would be darn awesome. 5. I'd really really love to see a full-blown Victorian style maid costume instead of the French style (you know, those ones with super mini skirts and sling stockings...) in the game. Or even funnier, make Miriam throw plates and use mops to attack lol. Nuns I don't have much idea but Dominique is a good enough reference. 6. I didn't think this much TBH lol, but at this point, anything is possible I guess (a.k.a I have no idea 7. Bikini and beachwear are way way WAY out of settings here, I'd be glad if they decided to leave them out. We are not DoA lol. Alucard didn't get his beach pants anyway.8. Maid headdress definitely goes to maid costume, that's all I know about. 9. Nope. 10. Cosmetic DLCs are a pain to collect and there are way too many of them than we need. I'd rather have a big DLC pack with lots of contents, even it has a higher price tag, like, say $20. 11. Maybe Alfred...? 12. It all depends on the quality of DLC. I won't call DLCs of BoTW or Afterbirth DLC for BoI "money farming" in any aspect. 13. "The buddy system" from BoI is a good example of co-op I think. Player 2 will be spawned as a familiar to Player 1 borrowing P1's HP and stats, P2 can move and around and attack etc. etc. Imagine Miriam has a familiar like swordmaster or goofball or flower fairy (I still love you), and P2 can control the familiar to do different tasks, that'd be cool. 14. That's a good question, but I do think even if the official mod tool is limited (just like "snap map" in DOOM), at least it would provide a more friendly way for people who want to expand the game, which is always a good thing. 15. Nope.

all of us ex-castlevania fans are swarming to bloodstained. i'm hoping this might give konami a clue that they made a grave mistake in underestimating the power of its fans and put forth an effort for a new single-player, console or handheld, non microtransactions-ridden, honest to god castlevania game without igarashi. i have no doubt that they could do it, but i think they just wont even try. hopefully, bloodstained success will be a message to them. the money is with the fans you alienated. IMHO Konami at this point didn't care anything other than money right now. Let's say bloodstained has achieved a phenomenal success, everyone who has played it praised it, but if that success doesn't translate into sale numbers, they won't give a dime about how BS facepalmed them quick and hard. If the message didn't deliver, there's no message at all. Even with games that sold extremely well, I mean, just take a look at MGS V... That game had already sold over 6M copies at the end of 2015, and what does Konami do next? Release a cheap zombie game using the name of MGS. I really don't know but it seems like the current company named Konami didn't know how to operate as a good game company, and they don't want to hear or learn. Good luck with all your gyms, Konami.

I've known this series for some time but never tried to read the novel or watch the anime...
I have to admit that the artwork of the main protagonist triggered me in a hard way tho. So is this a game based on the original or a sequel to the series? It seems like a good starting point to dive into the series.

No, it's not a pachinko machine but... it's a mobile game. Here's the linkIt's called 「悪魔城ドラキュラ Grimoire of Souls」 ( Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls). The closed beta test is currently available for iOS only. For now, the announced featuring characters are Genya Arikado & Alucard, Shanoa, Maria, Simon, Charlotte, Lucy. --- The thing is... judging from the screenshot above, it almost looks like it's using the engine from Dracula X Chronicles and just throw a bunch of characters into the mix, which is pretty lame. They also said the game supports network co-op up to 4 players... sorry I just can't imagine that happening to an action game on a mobile platform.

I'm gonna buy the whole bundle, not sure getting Switch version or PS4 version though.
X5 is my introduction to the whole Megaman series, I bought a graphics card just for playing X8, also had a lot of good time with X6, albeit it's way too hard for me at that time (looking at you, Gate).
Somehow I jumped over X7, and I don't regret that...

Well, I had planned on soaking in the tub while reading volume 9 of Vampire Hunter D, but crocodile showed me this series and I can't pull myself away from it. I never knew the fairy familiar would pull out a hammer and smack Alucard if he gets turned to stone. It needs a certain item, though, which is consumed. I don't remember the exact specifics, but that fairy must be able to cure Alucard, from more status problems. It's been a really long time, damn! Fairy (blue one) or Half-fairy (green one) would both use the hammer item IIRC. I still love how half-fairy sits on Alucard when you stand still for a while (fairy never does that), then being surprised by the sudden action of the player. That's very cute. And I love Nocturne to death, sadly they have to cut the lyric card item out on PS version.

Hi folks...I just registered and I was wondering (sorry if I sound noobish)...I've been out of the loop with the Bloodstained scene for about a year or so now but whatever happened to Ben Judd? I haven't seen him translating for Iga at conventions lately (Mana has been doing that job lately). Thx! You can also hear the forum's BCB Podcast hosted by XombieMike featuring Ben himself! #17 (Nov. 2017): #2 (Oct. 2015):
