I'm watching it wight now, so far I'd say it looks good, and yes better than the trailer. At this point I wonder if it weren't better to take the time and craft a more polished trailer, because in my opinion it was a bit rushed and legitimately made things a little worse than they appear. Improvements are to be made, but still, this is better. A minor gripe: the dagger and rapier seem to function mostly the same. Why would you use the knives over the rapier if knives are like rapier but shorter and weaker? Knives are underappreciated in games, I would have like them to be unique/have reasons to be used P.S.: even the familiars look way better and more crystal-like!

I feel that the complaints regarding the graphics are fine, but also I don't feel too worried. 20-30% of the game complete surely means that there is also a good deal of graphical work to do. Most notably post processing. But yeah, since we do have the possibility to do so, it's good to let the team know what can/should be improved.

Note: The beauty of gaming today is patches. Post-launch fixes of both textures, functions, animations and more. Just a thought. Can't say I agree with that. I feel that too often the possibility to patch a game means that it's okay to launch it full of problems, balancing issues, bugs and whatever. The possibility is there and it can be useful, but a game should come out complete and as polished as intended. I personally tend to boycott games that come out in an unacceptable state, even if with a lot of patches they end up great. It's just something you shouldn't do. The release date for the complete product must mean that the game is, obviously, complete. Obviously it's okay to iron out some bugs that for valid reason were left in the first version of the game (for example in really big games, or open worlds), but it should be not okay to "correct" glaring problems AFTER the release. That should be done in due time, with delays to the release date if necessary.

Overall low, but more specifically I think the rarity system from Dawn of Sorrow worked quite well.

Random, with a few different screams/sounds to prevent it from feeling stale or tiresome.

Pure Miriam : despite that, a good opinion is an informed opinion. Players (and especially backers of a project) should understand what a game's goal is, and what it sets out to do. Criticizing Bloodstained's speed is pretty much ignoring that the game wants to recreate a certain feel which is part of the style of the director. It's like criticizing Metal Gear Solid for having characters with weird powers in an otherwise absolutely realistic environment: I may not like it, but it is part of Kojima's style, and therefore if I have an informed opinion I would have to admit that it may not be for my taste, not treating it like it's a fault of the game.

Youtube comments are just horrendous. I wouldn't give them much credit because it's the same people that complained about the aesthetic shortly after the campaign and then praised the demo to high heavens. The average commenter seems like a sad folk full of hate and with childish mindset. In any case people like these piss me off A LOT. On the other hand, you have some legitimate critiqued which are more or less the same emerged in the update thread. The "too slow" thing is a non factor for me since the demo was okay in that regard (AND NO ONE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT AT THE TIME lol). I am absolutely happy with the trailer, and the things that need improvement will be improved, that I am certain of.

Nice update! I loved the interview! Just a couple of things are a bit perplexing to me regarding the game footage. 2. Will they be adding physics to objects in the environment?
because jumping on the chandelier looked incredibly odd without any movement. Mainly this. I hope it's a thing to add later, because the environment looks too static this way. Not only the chandelier, but the ropes on the galleon too. I hope physics will come eventually, right know it looks a bit "odd" as castledan mentioned, especially paired to the fact that (and this may be a momentary impression) the light on the action seems a bit strange. It's like you have a lamp, offscreen, illuminating the scene like it were a cardboard. Other than that, I can feel their focus and passion and I am sure this will come out great.

A bit OT, but regarding to the high tier weapons, I hope that every "final" weapon of various categories is worth using. I do not necessarily mean that I want them all to be equal, but about on par in terms of usefulness. A knife with special abilities for ultra-quick and special attacks, for example, things like that. Maybe playing with elements and don't make it so that holy attribute>>>>>everything else.
In regards of the update, I would surely like a bit of new content to quench the thirst and the long wait. Can't honestly wait for the demo.

...because Iga has never failed to deliver when it comes to a 2D igavania *cough*Harmony of Dissonance *cough*The least enjoyable IGAvania by far. Still a good game, I replay it to this day every now and then. Despite its flaws, it's still on par if not better with many of the Metroidvania style games that came in the last few years. The atmosphere was top notch, if nothing else. /OT

Yup, that sounds really in the game's favor. I feel that sometimes Kickstarter campaigns provide too many unnecessary or outright detrimental stretch goals (such as porting to every platform in existence, it's not like that's good by default).

152.000 dollars reached (initial goal 50.000 dollars). I must say that some stretch goals are quite creative!

I would be happy even with "just" 150 or so enemies, provided that they are ALL (or mostly) unique. Palette swapping an enemy is understandable, but a bit lazy as far as I'm concerned. I would like a number of bosses between 25 and 30, if the game is that big. Also, even a bit less than 100 weapons is fine. All in all, I know IGA said biggest castle and all, but really for me it's a matter of quality. In those weapons, I'd like a number of "ultimate", "unique" or even viable weapons, that have identity and charm. Among those bosses, I want unique challenging bosses, not biggest version of normal enemies (Harmony of Dissonance was so guilty of this). And so on. I hope I got my point across lol

This looks honestly amazing. My hype just went to the roof. I hope it's well placed faith. Pure Miriam : Isn't Grant the guy throwing daggers (the one who appears after Dracula)? Doesn't seem like Trevor to me, so I think he's Grant, albeit with a bit of a different design (which would be fine by me, I always thought Grant to be a little out of place from a design standpoint) It isn't, it's Trevor without the fur coat. The shirt and emblem is the same from the japanese official artwork. Look at it and at Trevor's back. Damn, you're right. The absence of the fur coat was very misleading haha

RichterB: thanks for fleshing out your detailed opinions, I definitely can see your point. The atmosphere of TLC surely occupies a niche territory as of now, because Castlevania has indeed approached a different direction. In a sense, if you're familiar with it, it's a bit like the confront between the official DLC Afterbirth Plus and the mod Antibirth for The Binding of Isaac: one is official, one is fan made but of high quality, and the fan made one goes exploring territories the official one does not, and for that it has earned quite the following in TBOI community. All in all you made me quite hyped for TLC2 haha

gunlord500 (don't really know how to quote you without including my post you quoted in the first place haha): didn't know about that one, but from a first look, it sure seems interesting and haunting. I'll check it out. estebant: the style is really on point. I bet it'll also have great gameplay, because in these months on pre-production the devs shared their project on FB and they're already thinking about little fine details about the combat system and what not. For example, if you get hit by an enemy while standing back to the wall, the enemy is pushed a little backwards to ensure you don't get trapped and stun locked to death.
