The campaign ends in a little less than two hours with currently $327,442. Voice acting is secured, and more! I doubt we will be getting the $350,000 stretch goal but I don't really care about that either. I'm just happy for the devs, this was a triumph (ah, the Portal influences).

I also backed this project that includes the printed artbook . It looks really promising and this team already delivered a highly rated game before (which I should check out some time). I hope the best for their project! It's so nice to see that you're interested in this, Mana yes I absolutely recommend to check out The Last Door, especially if you have any kind of interest in Edgar Allan Poe and Howard Phillips Lovecraft's works. I've played no game that captures the peculiar atmosphere of those literary works that well. Genuinely scary, chilling atmosphere with an incredible OST and visuals full of character. There are 32 hours left and the next stretch goal is voice acting at 300.000 $! Which would be six times the original goal, it's insane for a studio like that

lovelydumpling: That's why I said that I understand the reason of the critique, but I just personally can't really see the problem. To me it doesn't look weird, but I can understand why it may seem so to others.

One or more optional areas, maybe tough areas with unique enemies and valuable trasures is always a great idea to me. Maybe even hard to find areas, that will require some sort of puzzle to be entered (like the Forbidden Area in Aria of Sorrow as Yän said, too bad that wasn't a full fledged area but the way you had to get inside and the mystery surrounding it were ingenious). To me, they should be full fledged areas, with a good deal of exploration and tough challenges. "Arenas" like the Large Cavern in Ecclesia or the coliseum in Circle of the Moon are fine, but they totally lack environmental variety and exploration, so I'd prefer "complete" areas. In regards of the multiple paths, it's a neat idea but IMO they should be limited, because: 1 - if at one point you can choose to do area 1, 2, 3 or 4 first, this usually means that the four should be of similar difficulty. Lament of Innocence could do this because there are no RPG elements in that game, but in Bloodstained we have level ups and that sort of thing, so I feel like it would be difficult to balance a lot of areas that could be chosen at the same point of the game. Maybe this would be cool if we had something like a set of two areas in the first part of the game to explore in the order we choose and maybe another couple in the late game, as long as: 2 - you don't get completely lost. That IMO kills the pacing, and in general it's never been a thing in IGAvanias, while for example Metroid games would make you feel lost in an hostile planet. Also, the feeling of being lost can become very detrimental (I hated it in Axiom Verge, for example, when you got a new power you could use it in a million places and you had to be lucky to be able to continue in the story and not getting at some sort of collectible instead). Secret shortcuts are also fun, but they usually become obsolete if a warp system is present. Knowing IGA, there will probably be some sort of warp, so shortcuts could work if the warping system only came into place about halfway through the game (something like Dark Souls 1, many areas are interconnected because you can't warp, but once you get the Lordvessel to warp areas become more self contained).

CastleDan: I'm with you. Pad in hand, the last demo felt perfect to me, and honestly even now even if I KINDA understand where the critiques are aimed, I honestly can't see the slowness, the floatiness, the awkward animations... I'm used to that style. I felt at home. And honestly (PERSONAL OPINION) it is not something that "didn't need to be like the old games, those games are old". Clunky NES vanias' controls are a thing of the past that needed a restyle. Heck, even Circle of the Moon's controls felt really clunky. But SOTN and every game post CotM was always killer in terms of controls to me. The formula isn't old, it aged extraordinarily well, and every single IGAvania (plus CotM) holds its own against every other game of the style that has come after. And don't get me wrong, we've had our share of INCREDIBLE metroidvanias during the years, but if I were obliged to choose? I'd pick Order of Ecclesia over any of them. Of course, this is all my personal opinion and I reiterate that I kinda see the point of those wanting an improvement, but I just feel this way. I also don't want to come off as an incredibly biased fanboy that will deem everything IGA throws his way perfect. I have critiques regarding the visuals of the game, mostly, and I hope they improve (and I'm confident they will with time. There is still a lot of time after all), but the game feel, to me, is on point. There is the foundation for a good IGAvania. They will need time, hard work and attention to detail to make this an AWESOME IGAvania, but even now this looks good and promising in my opinion. At worst, I think it will be a transition title that is excusable whenever you work in a completely new context, like Harmony of Dissonance, (to an extent) Dawn of Sorrow and Lament of Innocence were, and they were good games. Even that would be fine by me. End rant, you guys are great

I think it's mostly a placeholder, as in the old demo they seemed to have variants and neat details, so that may be an indicator of the fact that they want them to be varied/detailed/interesting.

Tonight I completed Doom 64 EX. Fantastic game, solid shooter with amazing horror atmosphere. I haven't really scratched that itch for classic FPSs though, so I realized that I've been on E3M3 of Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders for a while. Time to finish that one.The idea to apply the Doom mechanics and engine to a fantasy world was really awesome, kudos to whoever had it first. Everything is really cool, and the game is tough as nails.

Or, maybe petals accompanying the glowing effect near her feet we're suggesting. There's also the possibility of a momentary materialization of a physical crystal platform, visible only for a few frames that she hops off of before it fades away, but I'm not sure how much work and animation we could have to work with. Dante's double jumps in Devil May Cry are something similar, except with a magic circle of sorts instead. Yeah this basically.

Honestly I was never too enthusiast of this roguelike mode myself. Doesn't really fit with the philosophy of IGAvanias imo, and if a game has a rogue structure it should be centered around it (proper roguelikes, and even they can't always nail down the formula to grant a long lasting, meaningful experience). I just hope it's a COMPLETELY OPTIONAL mode, and that it will be worked on AFTER the main game is complete and polished. Having seen similar (accessory) systems in bigger budget titles like Bloodborne, I think it's going to be a decent way to kill some time at best. I know I'm being a bit negative here, but modes like these are the reason I don't really like too many stretch goals in KS campaigns. Extra modes could be fine, but I'd rather have a superb game without too many extras than an "okay" game with tons of extra modes.

Overk 200k at the moment. I hope they get to 210k to get the OST with real instruments, Viola's compositions are just incredible.

Dragon_of_Dojima: I do have a copy of Blood, but that is a world above Doom in terms of difficulty. I don't really like it, I want to like it but I tried several times, and there are too many hitscanning enemies that deal TONS of damage, plus the weapons feel a bit underpowered. I mean, three point blank shots from the shotgun to kill a zombie? And I have to wait him getting up after every shot? Ugh, talk about annoying. I wonder why that game can't click with me. I love Duke 3D for example. I wonder. I have a fairly big backlog. Right now I'm playing Doom 64 EX on the PC (which is a fantastic addition to the Doom series), Gravity Rush Remastered on PS4 and The Evil Within on Steam. This last one has been paused for a long while because I bought a PS4 in the meantime and I was captivated lol but now I wanna finish it.

Yes, I surely agree. The light is pretty off in my opinion. This was evident in some screens of the village, in which you have the sun or whatever on the background and some inexplicable lamp off screen that projects Miriam's shadow towards the background. I believe they will fix this, but it's noticeable as far as I'm concerned.

Scars Unseen: they are older comments, but I noticed them just now and I must say you have exquisite taste. Pain of Salvation are a great band, but especially Bela Fleck? That is absolutely classy.

Galamoth: that's a damn fine selection of VGMs. As far as I'm concerned, lately I've been alternating. In the last few days I've been feeling melancholic, but not too sad, so I settled on some The Front Bottoms. Awesome indie rock (with a touch of GOOD emo, and with that I mean the Sunny Day Real Estate kind of emo). Earlier, I was revisiting the more recent part of Deathspell Omega's discography. I mostly listen to various degrees of heavy metal (with an emphasis on doom metal, black metal and death) and DSO is one of my favorite bands. Totally unique, with twisted melodies and dissonances all over the place. Very avantgarde.

Dragon_of_Dojima : the thing I've learned since I've been engaged (I was never in a relationship until last September, even though I am 22) is that you should always get those opportunities if you can. Flirting and beyond is good and there is no point in missing these chances. I surely missed them for a long time. Not trying to sound wise or anything, I'm still too young and inexperienced, but however you should see how it goes, good luck Ah, I assure you that Doom 2 will repay every bit of the time you invest in it. I think I've burned well above 1000 hours in Doom, Doom 2 and the countless WADs, map packs and mods. Truly a timeless game, probably my favorite ever. Maneuvering is a key, with practice you will become a master! It is really good blazing through the maps at Ultra-Violence, and the experience pays off because many megaWADs are really difficult. But a good thing is that the game has lots of difficulty option, so have a blast As far as my day is concerned... heh, didn't goo that well. I failed an exam (Egyptology) because the professor was way more demanding than I though, and really precise on details like geography and the names of archaeologists. The worst part is that I panicked and I made quite a fool of myself. It surely seemed like I never opened a book, but in truth I've been studying hard for quite a bit oh well, them exams can't always go well. It shall be a lesson not to overlook details. I hope to pass it next time because it was really humiliating.

"Throwing swords" sounded like a silly idea to me honestly lol but I would have liked to see something of the guns. Maybe they were removed because they can result redundant with trigger shards and directional shards? You thought the Heavens Sword, Rune Sword, and Chakram were silly? Heaven Sword and Rune Sword were unique and fun, but to have an ENTIRE CATEGORY of "throwing swords" yes, it felt a bit silly to me they can easily incorporate them in the sword category as unique weapons.

Elfina Ashfield : yeah, they should be somehow distinct. I love the fast characters with daggers in games and other works haha I finished watching the whole thing, it is pretty nice. As I already said it's important to pinpoint what should be improved especially graphic wise, but for a game 20-30% complete? (What is that? Is it even alpha? Pre-alpha maybe?) It looks very good. Heh, maybe I am biased, I don't know, but I like what I see in this particular video. Regarding the possible boss censorship, what they said is kind of ambiguous. I sure hope IGA means visual tweaks and/or a reworked intro, because I think that the employment of some partial nudity contributes to the game's feel. It should be gothic and mature, shouldn't it? Also for me personally, the less "goofiness" and light hearted moments involved, the better, but that's my personal opinion. What I wanna get at is that the sensual/vampiric theme of the boss fits, it's not bad taste nor it looks like fanservice. I like it. That said, the boss room and even the intro mini cinematic can be vastly improved, especially the room. But heck, we don't even know if the boss is gonna appear there in the cathedral or in another area altogether. It's not easy to make precise comments in early builds, because too many things could change.

Yes Enkeria, those kind of patches are absolutely welcome but so are minor corrections, juast as long as they are not, as I was saying, a justification to put out an unfinished game just because "we can patch it" (I absolutely do not think this will be the case)
