If all familiars are blue, I will feel there is quite some dullness in it all (dull Dullahammer?). I'd rather have them a faint aura to add to their original color or a slightly different appearance to distinguish them from the originals.
I support the idea of color customizations that the others had.

Goofball the Tutorial Giver. Possibility of him being the cursor in the menu. Option to turn him off... but why would you do that?!

...Given I am an owner of Arcana Heart 3 Love MAX (I refuse to put the few exclamation marks around), I wonder what really new they'd bring to the table. Some of the rewards seem nice, but there is no "we create a character of your choice"... That's really too bad.* ...The game is already funded, grats to them!
*Of course I am kidding.

Hello and thank you for the demo. I will be the most constructive possible. The intro is nice, I like the female voiceover. The story is well-explained too. The options part do show when you gain speed by turning certain options off. I liked that touch. As for the game, I see very well where the inspiration comes from. These digitized sprites... it's an interesting style, very fluidly animated, too. Stage 1: These jumping corpses I found a bit crazy and funny at the same time, it's not in Ghouls & Ghosts that you would see that. I then was surprised at that sudden trap, but I felt it was normal if the goal of the game is all about trial and error. The boss didn't pose any problems. Stage 2-A: When exploring the forest, I was a bit annoyed by the archers, but I understood the way to deal with them without taking damage. The harpy and spider posed zero troubles. I also died a few times because I didn't grab the ladder in due time... but it was fine. I beat the boss easily. Stage 2-B... It was easy-peasy, until I reached this part with the lizardman (reptile not pictured): ...You see, I do enjoy monsters with variety, but not those that will happily push you in a pit Ninja Gaiden NES style... In sum, pray that the lizardman throws his scythe instead of jumping at you (that's a 50% chance of death there!) and camp in the middle. Luckily enough, he will suicide, which I find very fun. I also learned that trying to shoot him with the crossbow is tantamount to suiciding. I then reached the vampyr boss and died. I then surprisingly didn't need to redo the level (as I didn't die at the hands of the previous two) , but hoped I'd get closer to the boss on respawning. I then decided to stop playing for now (maybe because of another recoil-death via the scaly foe just after?).
To conclude on this short review, I want to say that your game got a lot of potential, but that set of "jumps into the unknown" (especially when a huge bottomless pit is waiting for you) is a strange feeling for me. Still, keep it up! Please do inform us of future versions. Take care!
P.S.: A tutorial is always great. At worst, put the small guide in the pause menu.

My jump into 3D games has been difficult. I always have an apprehension when it comes to character+camera controls even if at least tank controls are about unused nowadays. Fixed camera rail game-style is easier on playability but of course hampers freedom a good deal, the same goes for enemy lockdown.
I am fine with a 2.5D game, really. I am not nostalgic of pixel art even if I always appreciate games that have it. For me, the most important part is the playability and overall balancing. Another one is the absence of fatal glitches/bugs.
After that I am pretty open to anything, as long as it's compelling enough.
I am also used to the grinding (blame RPGs) as long as you don't die in a cheap way because of relentless opposition.
As for Master Iga's way of managing the game, I'd be pretty confident he'd want to do his best like now. That said, the end result is never guaranteed until the foundations of the game are made pretty solid. Let's just say I'd be confident still, like now for our little 2.5D 'stained.

Guacamelee indeed was insane in terms of tricky jumps and ability uses. That said, being able to reach the final level in the Super Turbo Championship Edition was highly satisfying. Not playing it in bursts will drive you mad, for sure. In Axiom Verge, if you don't play it regularly or know where you saw an interesting item but didn't have the ability for it then gained that ability, you'd go pretty much fully lost unless you had a guide nearby. Gladly for me, I didn't have to think too hard. The abilities are extremely fun, like hacking some places and enemies. freddythemonkey Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is the definite one to have. I'll eventually get Half-Genie Hero, but even the owners of the latter will say that the former is better.

What I currently feel about Bloodstained is... not much right now. I am waiting for the second demo to be out.
People can criticize all they want, not only it is an unfinished product, but also they have not remembered that CSOTN was paced the same way. If it is not the game they're looking for, there are plenty of these of the genre out there, but they should at least give 'stained a chance.
One of my worries were the passive enemies. That said, we have been told that some bosses will have peculiar traits and I really wish for that to happen, even smarter enemies like the old Spear Guard (very versatile, sometimes cheap, like when they performed the upwards poke).
As for the Wii U version, I am sure it was all about Nintendo quickly burying the dying console and going "hey, do buy a Switch instead, it's full of the games you are familiar with, with a new twist!". It did happen to the NES to SNES transition... it never stopped since. If the haters would just make a search on the gems that never saw the light of day, maybe they would understand.
Anyway, I am resuming my little mundane life full of routine until the big day comes... then I shall get excited like a little kid and avoid getting spoiled or spoiling others (unless I use a little tag here).

Oh, I forgot to mention that I don't mind DLCs at all, when they're meaningful and at a good price. What do I mean by meaningful, you ask. That's a good question! For me it is when it really brings something to the game and thus not being a shameless cash grab.
That said, I tend to wait for a game to be older so the DLCs are eventually included in the package... in a game on sale. 100% winner. *evil grin*

I at least want a Goofball plopping on the title screen or the menu via a code or achievement. Or then it being the tutorial master... yes, better than Johannes. (more thoughts coming soon!)

These (for now) are just elements in the background to make you feel it's not flat. Having uniform walls as a background only is not acceptable anymore these days. It's also why I love games with parallax, it makes things alive, wishing to explore the background.
Sadly this principle didn't cling (in my opinion) when I started to play 3D games, due to less precision in hit and miss... this is also why games got a crosshair, lock-on system or tank controls.
Of course you want to see what's hidden in some pathways you can't explore normally. It's also why many games got that "press up to enter that room" and then you enter a new corridor. It's a system I like, even if mapping can become tedious. Valkyrie Profile did that, a 3D map.
DLCs... yes, maybe we will get expansions once the game is over, but when it comes to the castle and core content, it ought to be finished and ready at the right time.

You seriously should write books "in which you're the hero". These ideas are great for it.
As for trap rooms, I'm sure they'd be more fitting of a dynamic survival-horror game or a rogue-like. That said, nightmare mode could just incorporate such elements and be true to its name!

When it comes to items, I'd want them to be found in the most varied ways possible. Some would be on the floor, others in treasure chests or bags (with them being visible Order of Ecclesia-style), some dropping from defeated monsters, some you need to break items for, some you just loot from (like static armors)...
For quests, I'd rather have tiers of them (all available from the start, as long as one is not a prerequisite of another) meaning that at one point you can be able to finish a higher-level one then later on an easier one just because you didn't feel like farming back then.

Hey Enkeria,
Of the metroidvanias I got, one strangely weren't cited yet. Dust: An Elysian Tail, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (I've got the Gold one as well) and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse but also Risky's Revenge. I love them to bits.
Dust is fast-paced and requires a little puzzle-solving. There is a bit of crafting in there, it has a leveling system. You can reach combos rather fast... It can be light-hearted and sad at times. Guacamelee relies a LOT on abilities you learn during your quest... There are techniques like a flaming shoryuken, a vertical dropkick, a headbutt... all wrestling-themed. You'll even have to switch forms and worlds to progress further. Shantae is quite more relaxed and no less fun.
I could say much more about them.
I also acquired Axiom Verge, Aquaria, Cally's Caves 3, the Shadow Complex, Owlboy but I haven't tried them yet. I tried the demo version of Valdis Story as well and backed for Indivisible.

Hello my friend, it sure has been a while.
Well, I'd say, overall low generally, with a higher rate for more basic shards given that you won't get too strong by gathering several of them. Strong shards definitely should be rare and bosses should give shards automatically.
Low is fine, low to mid is fine (got to know what mid's value is, though). How many shards in total, how many truly give you an edge... There are still so many factors to discover.
Farewell for now~

Hey Enkeria,
I love your ideas. It's true that the demo gameplay made Miriam find a lot of shards thus making her go into quite a bout of agony. It would get pretty tiresome to hear her screaming the same way all the adventure... your idea of intensity of suffering depending on the shard's tier I fully approve of.
We know she is a cursed young lady and she reluctantly needs power since all she wants is to get rid of it for good. To seek Gebel to find a cure, to be closer to death each time, hope vs helplessness vs power in exchange of excrutiating pain...
Let's make so she does share her pain with us... but not too much. ^^

E3 crazy entrance fee... Got to justify it a little with promos.
I'm a bit wondering on the matter... collectible mostly means exclusive.
Miriam and Bloodless (what an ironic name) are awesome on these.
Edit: shirts of Bloodstained with such imagery. Yes yes yes, one thousand times yes.

Wow, my thread is still alive. Thanks, I had given up on it out of not visiting the forums.
Not so compelled for purchasable cheat codes.
As for the ticket to the shop, I thought of a warp point in the village. That should be sufficient enough.

Bloodstained Hype Revival June 2017... Success! That said, I'll wait to play the demo to say anything, since I don't want to spoil myself.
Needless to say, I'm so glad it's finally here. All haters and doubters will have something to calm them down a little, not to say convert some!
Let's hope the future of the game will be bright!
