Kim Lambert on Kickstarter wanted to bring up the difference in Miriam's costume from the concept art to the shader comparisons. It appears to be a bit different.

I think I like it better without the extra shoulder pieces. It feels like they just add more clutter to the design.

Changeable costumes are a feature in the game, so I'm betting if we ask for it we can have the option for either. That's just an assumption though.

I like the original design without the extra piece on the shoulder, not because I think it "clutters" the design or anything, but because the bare shoulder shows more of the crystals on Miriam's skin.

Id like it better with her chest not exposed like that. Looks less in the style of the times and less believable. I think the infection should be shown more elsewhere instead... The face or more on the legs

Looks less in the style of the times and less believable. Yeah because when running around a totally believable and real demon-infested castle it's important to wear period-accurate clothing. With a mini-skirt and bare back.

I like the tweak to her outfit. Seeing the crystallization coming through from beneath the clothes on her shoulder rather than being in plain sight has a more believable feel and gives the impression she's trying to cover it up.

Right well I don't really care for her costume as is because of it feeling out of place. I think it'd be nicer if it fit the times better and wasn't so sexualized. Well I guess you'll like the pure Miriam costume a bit more, then. You know, this one.

Both are nice, if i remember right Iga said he wanted to show her curse, so only because of that i would prefer the original, but both of them are great. The explanation about her trying to hide the curse with that piece of clothing doesn't seems right, so how to explain the whole boob curse crystals exposed?
By the way, i hope we have some bad ass armors to make Miriam wears as outfits, i mean real armor (protective), which means no exposed body parts at all (for realism purposes).

I kinda see both sides of the issue here. At first I was "team no shoulder cover" in order to show more of the crystals and look less cluttered, but the idea of Miriam trying to cover the crystals or having them stick out from underneath her clothes is giving me second thoughts. I also noticed you can see a bit more of the markings around Miriam's boob crystal on the character model than you can on the artwork. I don't think it's sexual or trying to be sexual, I just didn't see anyone else point it out yet.

I'd prefer the team to stay with the original design, for those who have different tastes there will be customization anyway. BUT its looks to me that it wasn't a question of design, I suspect the purpose is to hide the shoulder articulation, maybe they have a hard time with "armpit programming" I hope its temporary. XombieMikeThank you for the post, I know you most have lot of requests, but if possible could you find an answer? A change in character design is worth an explanation to me.

Id like it better with her chest not exposed like that. Looks less in the style of the times and less believable. I think the infection should be shown more elsewhere instead... The face or more on the legs A plot point from the beginning has been the proximity of the curse to her heart. This is the best way to show this as well as actually draw attention to it in art/cutscenes, etc. The burlap (?) covering on the right side of her chest is more the odd part though it also serves to highlight the curse on the left side. If you wanted to go with a more "realistic" design (though this game - see Gebel and Zangetsu - and even previous Castlevanias are no stranger to flare) that still makes the heart curse apparent, you'd probably have to give her a long tube top or a tube dress since those are clothes women frequently wear even back in the past (dresses more so for the past). It would also be a bit of a simpler design - I think the asymmetry of her clothing is contributing to it being a bit busy when the variable placement of curse (her left breast, shoulders, legs, etc.) would already serve to give the design an appropriate degree of asymmetry. As for "so sexualized" I'm not seeing it. Which doesn't mean anyone isn't entitled that opinion of course. I just feel (not talking to you specifically but in general), that in the aim to push back against the oversexualization of female characters and lack of variety in their character design across gaming (which is a good thing don't get me wrong) people have gotten very polarized on the subject. Like anything above an A-Cup and even a peak of skin will set some people off which always feels like an overreaction to me.

I agree about the overreaction thing. Pretty sure 'period' clothing included corsets with low necklines anyway. Not saying I want that but im thinking calling foul is really accurate here

Sorry if it bugs people if I don't think the design fits the era and if it seems a bit over sexualized. That's just my opinion I think the pure costume is much better though.

I hadn't considered that. That's a good point too. Thank you. I'm trying to figure out how that would apply to her legs though since her outfit leaves them exposed. I can only assume the crystallization down to her legs would be a recent development.

Not saying I want that but im thinking calling foul is really accurate here I like to think that, since this game has a gothic / dark fantasy theme, that a tweak to the history of the game itself can include a different every day kind of clothing. Maybe even go as far to say it's an alternate version of history.
