Here's a couple of my Primary character from Dark Souls 3 I had to time these just right, and I'm happy I did! I present Sigrun: EDIT: Just took this, since I found all the Secrets of London and unlocked the game's best armor! Too bad a screenshot can't show off the cool flicker effect the gear has.

Wow, I guess there are no real mega fans here, to a hard core anime fan that statement would be "blasphemy" ...and I'm done here. I enjoy anime quite a bit, but this is exactly the sort of elitism that drives people away. As much as I'd like to continue, I have to agree with Scars Unseen here (by the way, I love that Skull Knight gif mate). Even if you don't mean too, you are REALLY coming off as an elitist in a lot of your responses. Telling someone they can't be a real fan because of the way they view the medium is not the way to encourage cordial discussion. Its actually a lot like the Comic Book fandom: its very difficult to break into the medium, and the fanbases can frequently make it very off putting for newcomers. If I had a nickel for every time I heard "you're not a true fan if you haven't read such-and-such run by so-and-so, I'd have been able to buy my own house by now.

The difference is not really with the medium itself but with cultural perception. Generally, in the West, the average citizen considered anything animated to be "for kids" or "something I put on to keep my kids from bugging me for an hour", whereas in the East, its considered perfectly valid for animated mediums to tackle mature content or complex themes. Now, as the Millennials take over I expect the current shift in Western attitudes to continue, well, shifting.
So really, the difference in content is caused simply because Western Civilization does not value its animated media as highly as Eastern civilization does (and secondarily, the West does not believe nearly as much in exposing its youth to the darker/more complex aspects of life, such as sexuality, grey morality and ESPECIALLY death), but as time goes on and more animated media gets spotlit over here, this will change, and it really will just come down to "this was made in Japan, this was made in America".
tl;dr: while our parents may believe animated material should not be taken seriously, and may have raised us to think this way, the current generation is throwing this away and will very likely raise the next generation to believe that taking animated media seriously is perfectly acceptable.

Oooh, a nice follow-up to a thread I made a while back, wherein the community was pretty universal in their desire to see things like this.
I'm in a bit of an "other" category. I think Artwork and Music should be in galleries unlocked upon completion of the game, but I'd like the Bestiary to update in real-time as we encounter enemies. Staggering it out might not be a bad idea though: have the sound test unlocked upon beating any difficulty, but the art gallery requires NG+ or Nightmare, etc.
Collecting the art and music discs, I feel, would tip the game into collection overload: we've already got dozens and dozens of shards, crafting materials, weapons, armor sets, accessories, health/mana upgrades etc.
(PS. Don't worry about merging this or anything, the old thread served its purpose: we decided we want a gallery XD.)

While the difference really is that simple, I do like that Western animation is getting more bold and complex. Batman: TheAnimated Series and Justice League were fantastic shows that really knew the material, understood the characters and were not afraid to gut punch you (Ace's Death never fails to turn me into a weepy mess). The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra duology was a landmark in terms of proving Western shows could be just as character and story driven. And while I don't care about it personally, Steven universe is doing some pretty groundbreaking stuff too (I have a friend who is a megafan, and he keeps me abreast on it whether I like it or not :3).

There is one quality I'm interested in regarding Heavy Weapons like Greatswords, Battle Axes and Warhammers: and that's impact. In the 2D games of the past I always felt like Soma/Jonathan/Whoever swinging big weapons didnt have an impact. The weapon just swung slower and did more damage.
So what am I looking for to improve this feeling? I'll use an example:
One of my favorite moves of the Greatax weapons in Curse of Darkness was a move where Hector would scrape the weapon across the ground and hurl debris at his target, or the greatswords, where he would spin and slam the ground: sending up clouds of dust and rubble. Later entries in the Dark Souls franchise also took this approach and I loved it.
I would love it if, when Miriam swung a big weapon, there would be an actual impact with the ground and some visual effects, maybe have enemies go flying when she deals the deathblow. I want the big weapons to have more of an impact besides swing speed and the numbers on the screen. I want to FEEL like I'm crushing something with a giant Zweihander.

What if any difficulty settings can we expect other than normal and nightmare. Do they plan on preventing mods from being made? Not caring about it? Or encouraging it? Will we get to explore mini keeps outside the castle like on that concept art? The second question here has actually come up, and Mana (our community manager) has addressed it, at least in regards to the demo (and presumably the main game in due time): The team is okay with mods, but they have requested that anything dealing with copyright material not be shared on the official forums. AKA: They know someone will turn Miriam into Alucard, but lets do our best to make sure Konami doesn't find a way to trace it to IGA and give him trouble. EDIT: I tried to find Mana's official statement in the "Bloodstained Modded" thread but I can't seem to track it down. Did she delete her post?

I'm mostly jumping back and forth between Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven and Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Jojo is getting a lot of hate, but I'm enjoying it a great deal. The combat feels good and has a lot more to it than I initially thought. It also helps that a lot of my favorite characters range from "pretty good" like Trish to "good god the combos" like Jonathan. Except DIO. DIO doesnt feel great and that sucks . Oh well, at least they remembered Diego this time, because SCARY MONSTERS. I'm on my...I think fifth replay of VTMB. I've beaten the game as a Brujah and Toreadore, as well as gotten to the final boss with a Tremere (didnt beat the Sheriff here. I was out of blood with nothing to feed on and just kept getting pounded into mulch so I gave up). I also got most of the way through with a Nosferatu but the conversion to Windows 10 buggerd the files and I had to wait for the community to update the patch to make it compatible again. Currently a good ways into a Malkavian run and they are FUN with their dementia powers. I also want to play a Gangrel, but I gotta say I'm not very interested in playing a Ventrue.

I'll keep an eye on this when it comes to PS4. I'm a bit leery of the "survival" elements since *survival games* are EVERYWHERE at the moment, but the art style and the awesome bosses could easily win me over.

Damn crocodile , i want to have a Playstation 3/4/vita now! About transformations, i'm all for it! Transformation is a must on Japanese pop culture (just look how many anime/manga/sentai have transformations) so transforming powers is something that i think Bloodstained will have. Iga said on one of those answer videos that he likes transformation, but that requires a lot of resources, so, he needed to see how kickstarter would end, to have a better grasp on how to do that kind of power. The best type of transformation Igavanis had, in my opinion, was on Order of Ecclesia, with Werebat and Black Panther. You transformed and had some exclusive attacks at that form. Now, let me give some ideas of how transformation powers could work on Order of Ecclesia: TRANSFORMATION AS A SET OF POWERS
More or less like Order of Ecclesia, you get a Shard (maybe EFFECTIVE) and when you use it, Miriam changes her form to something else. All her shards and her weapon are locked, and each shard command gains a power instead. So, at Trigger button you have a power coming from that transformation, the same at the Directional command and such. TRANSFORMATION AS A SET OF SHARDS
In order to transform, you need to collect specific shards, equip all of them at the same time, and maybe activate one (probably EFFECTIVE). Alone, this Effective transformation shard just changes some stats and such, but when combined with everthing else, Miriam changes.
A fun, provoking side note: if Bloodstained show us some transformation powers, akin to Order of Ecclesia or something, a thread is bound to show up, complaining about oversexualization... After all, werebat form was naked I actually really dig the idea of Set of Powers. crocodile's idea could be incorporated here too. Maybe the forms could have a set time or a slow mana drain, for the sake of making use of the "Effective" slot in a way that isn't just "end form" (or perhaps another button entirely) Just for a quick example: Transformation shard: Vampire. Miriam's hair turns white, and her attire changes either to a black coat or Victorian-era dress -Her standard attack is a straight-line blood projectile -Bullet Power: Miriam conurs a dark magic orb, which slowly floats forwards and deals constant damage while in contact with enemies -Directional Power: Miriam directs a swarm of bats in the indicated direction. They deal damage and heal her -Effective Power: Miriam turns into Mist, briefly becoming incorporeal and immune to damage. -Familiar: Miriam summons and undead servant to aid her in battle. -Passive: Miriam is immune to dark damage, but takes bonus damage from holy attacks Just a quick idea that came to me, and the template Pure Miriam proposes would also work just fine for more elaborate transformations than what I made up.

1. Who is Miriam's Voice Actress? 2. Are they going to hold physical copies until everything is released,or will they launch physical and digital together? I'd infinitely prefer the latter but I seem to be the minority 3. Will there be outdoor areas of the castle, like open air courtyards, gardens and balconies, or will the entire game be indoors?

I'd be down for it if we didn't have to track down the dyes. Between all the crystal powers, weapons, armor sets, accessories and crafting materials, the game is already an explorer's dream game. Now if we had to, say, go to Miriam's room and use a magic mirror to customize it, that'd be fine. I rather like that concept art of Miriam looking in the mirror and putting on costumes.
On a more practical note: a dye system would give the artists something to do while the programmers bug test the game prior to release. A lot of cosmetic DLC for games is actually the result of the company wanting the artists to have something to do even though the game is at a stage where they cant otherwise contribute.
The main counter someone might use is the idea that the artists are creating a very specific gothic/stained glass aesthetic, and letting the player dye the outfits all kinds of colors could clash with the rest of the game's aforementioned aesthetic. I'm not saying it *would* but it *could*. I'd like them to get creative with the fact that, aside from Alucard's capes in SOTN we've never been able to alter the looks of a character before, BUT if the devs announced they don't want a dye system because they want to make sure everything regarding the art style stays consistent I wouldn't be mad.

There is another thing to consider: online balance. If there are indeed very special powers that need, essentially, a lengthy collect-a-thon side-quest to track down, assemble and forge, and the justification for said depth is that the powers are crazy strong, you run into the issue of everyone nabbing those powers to use online, thus stagnating the online outside of people who either dont know how to get them or people who explicitly avoid using them due to how powerful they are.
Now, a very easy solution to that problem would be to disable those powers when entering multiplayer, but telling people they cant use their big gun because its not fair to the other players can frustrate even the people who aren't out to stomp people and ruin their days. "I did all this work for these uber shards and now I cant use them?"
The idea of there being a set of uber-powers that turn Miriam into a goddess of destruction is certainly appealing from a "I'm as strong as the game gets" completion feeling. Aria of Sorrow has this via the: Claihm Solais, Eversing/Dracula's Tunic, Chaos Ring setup being the best and thus you get that "this is Soma at his strongest" feeling, and it feels good.
But the existence of online multiplayer is a very new and delicate consideration. I'm sure we all remember Harmony of Despair. Great game, I love it a lot, but it just turned into YatsuSoma, BlenderCard and the occasional Spike Boot/Berserker armor Belmont. I just dont want that to happen to Bloodstained too.

1. I agree with Pure Miriam about the "Effective" slot. I fully expect "buff" skills like Winestaind and Magic Throne to appear here, as well as "Stance" powers like Jonathan to either tank hits or buff specific stats temporarily. The only power from the concept art I still cant figure is the Voltaic Chain. It really seems like an Item Crash or the Dual Crush powers from the Belmont days and Ecclesia, respectively. 2. I agree with Croc here. Making us collect shards of crystals to make into the crystals would be too much "busywork" in-between the player finding out a power exists and then needing to hit up google. Finding the Crystals ready to use is simple and still has PLENTY of "go find the secret room with the chest or enemy" gameplay to keep people hunting without making it more complicated.

I'd want to see him as a boss, it'd be really funny if it happened. His shard should grant Miriam a Kappa as a Familiar!
Granted Bismark is such an in-joke that I dont even know if he'd be wise if they did include him. How many people would buy this off the shelf, find him and go "what in the blazes is this!" That'd be the only real reason to be "against" his inclusion. I've always been all-for Castlevania having silly monsters. Its not exactly some dark, gritty, deadly serious franchise. Heck, Bloodstained is already leaning towards the lighthearted scale, I cant wait to see what nonsense we can have Miriam wear XD
