The Gem/Jewel Sword is accessible then through legit means? Proof? Even if so it's a perfect example of missing content. My memories and these board posts: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/937723-castlevania-symphony-of-the-night?search=Jewel+sword&filter=0 That's about the only proof I have for you. I'm not trying to call you out but you are literally the first person I ever saw claim gameplay related things were missing. In fact I Google searched to double check before I answered the first time and can't find any proof of what you're saying. Basically the Saturn versions content is whats not there but someone clarified it was extra but Maria I would have liked to have playable as she was hard mode basically.

Basically the Saturn versions content is whats not there but someone clarified it was extra but Maria I would have liked to have playable as she was hard mode basically. That's a way to confuse a fella. :V The Saturn version came out a full year after the Playstation one. And the quality of the added area is... debatable. Some like it and some detest it but a running theme I've seen agreed to is that it doesn't quite match the quality and aesthetics as the rest of the game. But it's only ever been seen on the Saturn release. Not even the version seen in Dracula X Chronicles that added Maria (but a different version of Maria than her Saturn version).

Suffice to say that the Japanese exclusive of SotN may have it's interesting elements but it's not considered by most to be the official nor a needed additions to the game. While there's always a wish that they could have put more into a game there is almost always more idea's then they could possibly put into any game. Eventually they have to say STOP and finish up the game though. The content in the Satran SotN is at beast cut and partially realized content, not locked off.
However being denied locked content is never fun, imagine if you heard what a great game Sympony of the Night was or Dracula X/Rondo of Blood was and they told you that the Doppelganger or Galamoth or Succubus were exclusive to people that had backed it 20 years ago, or that playing as Maria was exclusive to those that had pre ordered the game?

I can imagine a lot of things. But those things don't change the reality. The base game is the base game. The backer content is additional content. The backer content was a promised exclusive. Going back on that means they took money on a lie.

CraniumOK let's talk reality, the reality is that any investment is a risk and that's what you made when you invested in the campaign you didn't order a product, rather you invested in an idea that was always going to change and mold as it went. Going strictly by what you say this entire campaign is a lie because, Inti Creates won't be responsible for Ritual like they were suppose to be other companies that have come and gone have changed things and how this game will turn out, several of the limited pledge levels were expanded thereby cheapening the value of autograph copies and other services, David Hayter will not voice Gebel etc. Would you insist at this point that the Wii U version be made and the Switch version dropped because thats what was promised? I personally wouldn't because it's not good for the community or the franchise, and that's why I and others want the content to be available to everyone, I personally don't even want a "special" edition sold at a higher price since that would be another "special edition" to compete with my backers edition I don't want even more patches that someday won't be available to me no matter if I'm a backer or not. But the point is as small of an issue as it might be I've never liked exclusive content whether I had it or not, and more then a few agree with me we want everyone to have the chance to fight IGA with a swordwhip. Since I've argued the point before in other threads I won't debate it here as I said all I really have to say anyways, if the loss of "exclusivity" bothers you I sincerely regret that, and I understand where you're coming from with conditions being changed on you and all, especially if you paid abit more for just for that exclusivity, but I still hope it happens, because at the end of the day you'll still get what you wanted just more people will get it too. Either way though I'll support the game. If it does happen and you want to call them liers, that's on you, but they did'nt make the promise that was other people not involved with the project anymore... that's what happens in these sorts of situation the reality (not just the reality you or I see) is fluid and always changing till the final product is out, witch is why I invested in the project to make the end game happen and for everyone possible to enjoy it like I will.

Going back on that means they took money on a lie. So, some things to consider on that imo. It doesn't per se change the situation, but is context that make it much less like lying or changing their mind. bloodstainedfanforums.com/post/53722

purifyweirdshard Unfortunately, I suppose, that does nothing for me. They may no longer be involved in the development of the main game but it was still a promise made by the Kickstarter as a whole. While Iga may have been against the idea of he himself being a boss this does not mean we know whether he was oppose to the idea of a backer exclusive boss reward. Also, the fact that Inti Creates is no longer involved in the main game's development is a very poor excuse imo as they were brought in by the Kickstarter (whoever that may have been at the time) and as we see in that original campaign video, Iga vouches for the people they brought in to work with. The idea may have been brought in by Inti, maybe, but it was an idea that the Kickstarter agreed to.

roguedragon05 No, at the end of the day I wouldn't get what I wanted, which is the content AND its exclusivity. Also, the Kickstarter as a whole agreed to that promise, not just the people who brought the idea forth.

Yeah, I am also on the boat that this should only be exclusive for a while before being available to everyone else. My thought process is thinking in the long term. One example that has always annoyed me as a completionist is that it is virtually impossible to collect all of the pokemon in some of the generations since some pokemon would only be available through special events or time sensitive intervals (Celebi is an example in gen 2). Going back on these games on a retrospective angle, it is just unfortunate to be locked to content like that FOREVER. Some people weren't even born when gen 2 was released and it seems like an unfair restriction to put on the future audiences who never actually had a chance of getting Celebi legally in the first place. I do not want the same to happen to Bloodstained.
A more recent example is Shantae: Half Genie Hero. I have only ever heard of that game after the game was released, and there is similarly backer exclusive content (although it is now open to the public as a deluxe edition of sorts). It can just give the impression that someone like me is screwed if the marketing never reached me until it was too late, and there wasn't really anything I could do except be at the right place at the right time, which seems unrealistic for everyone.

The survey was open to everyone. It was put on every media outlet and even had some external articles written about it. Anyone that had a Google account and was interested could take it. THink they should've come out with this survey before the Pledgemanager closed, Bet many (like me) Bought a cpl extra copies of the Kickstarter exclusive version of the game. Of course for collecting/future value. Oh well Of course I rather have a good game, But doesn't hurt to think in a business orientated way at the same time (it's a habit) How do you mean? The survey was taken while the pledge manager was still up. It ran from 4/19 to 5/1. Pledging closed 5/14, platform change 5/18. They actually announced that the slacker backing would be closing during the survey period. Also, "items with special effects" "meet Dominique" I'm interested in this I mean, The result from the survey came now, pledgemanager ended 2 weeks ago. That means that probably a lot of people had to consider the fact that quite important things might change AFTER you buy some extra copies or not. Ie. The BACKER EXCLUSIVE digital bonuses that was suppose to be only for backers, as the name for that bonus is quite obvious. I mean that me personally, I made the choice even though the Survey wasn't out yet, hoping that people would vote to keep the Exclusive content exclusive to backers only. Because that would make future "Collectibles" of the game much more valuable, like NES games of Caslevania are today for example (if boxed and all) I purchased 3extra Alchemy pledges with this hope in mind, as it was the promise all a long, and that was part of the deal from the Kickstarter and until now. Sure they might not let all that content free anyways, but it looks like they will. So my point is, they should've released the results before the pledgemanager closed so people could make a choice based on the info that's out now. It's a bit cheeky imo

Tried to quote but not working,
I mean the obvious. If you purchase something you usually know what you're paying for. If they now changing the "Kickstarter exclusives" to be free for all AFTER the pledgemanager is closed, well then you have been fooled/tricked to believe it would be locked to backers only. That's what they went out with during the kickstarter, that's what it's been saying on the pledgemanager all along. KICKSTARTER backer exclusive content ONLY.
Now the survey came out 2 weeks AFTER the pledgemanager closed, so people like me who bought 3 extra alchemy boxes of the game, might be regretting it quite a bit. As the special/nich collectible future value of those boxes are not going to have the same touch anymore. Hopefully they'll let me refund those extra 3,
Can't see how this was difficult to see, my point I mean. The survey came before the Pledgemanager ended, and the result not until it had already ended meaning you can't make decisions on your purchases based on the results from the survey. Very cheeky/stupid move imo.

UngweLiantiI could be wrong but, I honestly don't know how much sympathy your going to get arguing that your scalping profits will be cut into if they decide to make this content public, I know it was brought up before by someone that we should actually work to PREVENT scalpers hoarding copies of the game for collectors that will never open the box. It isn't really helping the cause so much as it is helping your bank account. To be clear you payed for it and what you do with it is your choice. But speaking personally I don't really see it as a point against making the content public. Buying and trading goods at a mark up is a risk and the markets not going to flow just to keep you rich. You should still have some goodies like keychains and tats and buttons to include with your purchase to temp any collectors.

You guys who think that nothing should be cut from a game should be glad that you (apparently) don't know much about the process of making a game. There's so much stuff that doesn't make the final cut in almost every single game for one reason or another. Either way I don't care too much for total exclusivity myself. If others can have fun with the stuff that I enjoy too, that's even better in my book

I was going to go through this thread and reply to the a lot of what I've read here... but then my internet went out for over an hour... and now I don't have much time left before I gotta get to bed. Guess I'll just do what I can, and the thread will be like twice as long by the time I wake up that's FINEI'm also mostly sure that succubus got 3rd because Castlevania always had those in game. I picked it because I like Miriam's skin. And I don't mean in a sexual way (but also that), but because it fascinates me seeing all the flower designs and where they are on her body. Wish there was a censored image just to see where they all are on her design. I also just like skin in general. But that sounds creepy and pervy and I have no idea how to make it not sound creepy so I'm just going to move on...
This threw me off myself, and I had no idea what answer to put. I'm not sure what answer I did put. I might have left it blank, if possible. I have zero regrets backing $125 for the game, but I think $40 seems about the ballpark for what the game is. $10,000,000 is just not the sort of budget that gets the AAA $60 price tag. But it's still higher priced than most indies which tend to hang around $15 - 20. The $40 price range for lower end mainstream games and handheld games seems to fit Bloodstained quite well. I don't think they'll have much issue recouping the cost of development if the game is as successful as Curse of the Moon seems to be. [This response was about Vepar, but seeing many pages later that XombieMike moved a bunch of Vepar related posts apparently, I've removed this portion of my post. Bummer.] My "other" idea was to combine two. Timed exclusive and paid DLC. But tbh, pay a lot less than Deluxe Edition. $20 for it seems overkill for me. I would have been satisfied with it being a $2 - $5 DLC that's released a few weeks later, like how pre-order bonuses tend to be handled. And I chose that answer as well. I understood some of the other references but none of them really made sense in context to me, so the "correct" answer was my go to. The rest just kinda felt like non-sequitors. Not sure Succubus does either. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who absolutely loves lorebreaking extras in games. Put Miriam in Mighty No. 9's outfit for all I care, it's all for fun! This is a callback to when games were fun and not all trying to be super immersive no fun completely serious worlds. As such, I think it's okay to get away with things that don't make too much sense, at least for items not central to the plot. And Valkyries are awesome! They're angels... with armor!
Originally, console users weren't getting beta access at all. GOG users were promised beta access steam keys, but not beta access through GOG. It says Beta Access next to GOG because GOG claimers were going to be granted Steam keys like Steam users, not that the beta would be on GOG. Wheras console users originally were to have no beta access at all. I've heard they've now changed it though so that all users will receive a steam key regardless of their platform choice. So GOG's "Beta Access" is an artifact of the original plan. But GOG hosting the beta was never part of the plan.
Even lower than the Vita! That is what surprised me.
Oh. I guess you had that covered then!
Your posts always trigger me... I'm not going to retaliate, but I just want to point it out I'm like 99.99% it has nothing to do with your actual arguments and pretty much everything to do with your profile picture. The gif of a huffing, puffing, angry man in glasses gives the subconscious impression that you're always unleashing a magnificent keyboard warrior fury every time you post your distaste with something, despite how rational your arguments tend to be. It's not a big deal or anything, but I do wonder if you have that effect on others you argue with on the forum. I think the avatar just kind of gives a false impression behind your sentiments. Trying to say this in a respectful manner— I have nothing against you. I just tried to break down why I was feeling the way I was about something and thought it might help you to know of that side effect.
This shard honestly worries me. In SotN, almost every single breakable wall/hidden room in the game had something in the level design to help guide your eye in there and make the astute want to investigate. Later Castlevania games seem to have some if not most of these areas placed at random, with things like Peeping Eye to make up for it. And that's so much less fun to me. My favorite part of SotN was the exploration but it felt like in later games it was more about trial and error than any genuine knack for picking up clues in exploration. And it feels like Bloodstained will largely go the same route.
Me too. It's precisely why despite backing the game and being granted access to it, I still want to make the content available in some way to non-backers. Primarily through delayed/paid DLC. They shouldn't just be handed it but I can't stand the thought of any game permalocking content, much less this one. But promises are promises so we'll see.
As for the Jewel Sword, that's in the 360 game too It's one of the most hidden rooms in the game but you can still get it. It requires more than just whacking the wall. But it's definitely there. And as for the Garden, it's not a cut area. It wasn't in the PS1 game either. It was an all new area added to the JP Sega Saturn version, and only that version. And it wasn't brought back even for the PSP DXC game because it was considered a pretty low quality area that Iga and co. weren't really proud of anyway. They also added a Cursed Prison in that game, with the same issues. But now I see everyone else already told you that part I don't agree with cranium, but to his credit, people were able to opt out and get refunds for the Wii U debacle. But this is way too late in the game to allow for that kind of thing now. So those are very different situations. If no one was allowed to back out after the Wii U version was cancelled, you bet there'd be a huge problem to be had.
Wew. That is definitely the longest response I've ever posted here. I don't even know if this forum allows stuff like this but ... YOLO I guess. Free "good fellow" points to anyone who actually reads this entire thing lmao

Effective Shard? I was thinking. I think the mystery of what the Effect Shard is has been solved. Since the beginning, at the first demo back on 2016, no Effective Shard (Blue Shard) has ever shown in the game. We know there are 6 types of Shards. Detective Eye doesn't seem to fit in all types we known so far: It can't be Trigger Shard, because all trigger shards so far has been "instant" effects and attacks. It isn't Directional Shard, you can clearly see it can't be aimed. It could be Enchant Shard, since Enchant Shard automatically works when you equip it, but i'm guessing Enchant Shards are more like stats bonuses and gameplay changes, without visual effects. It isn't a Familiar Shard, because, as far as we know, Familiars are the only Shard type whose name is the same of the demon itself. (Dullahammer Head demon gives the Familiar Shard named "Dullahammer Head"). Unless the demon is really called "Detective Eye" (a expy of Peeping Eye?) and the Blue Aura is actually the demon itself, maybe a ethereal creature that is amplyfing Miriam's visual capacities (that would be cool, actually, in concept). It isn't Skill Shard. I believe they are way more focused on game progress, such as Double Jump, High Jump and such. So, it could be Effective Shard. Most of us had guessed that Effective Shards would work by toggling effects or holding effects, a bit like Guardian Souls from Aria/Dawn of Sorrow. I may be wrong, but i believe we just saw the first Effective Shard revealed in the game. Any thoughts?

lovelydumplingI see what your saying however I was actually trying to point out other matters... 1. That plan's change not whether or not there is/was overall approval for the change or not, I agree that it is good that IGA and crew offered refunds but regardless it's good that the original promise wasn't kept because it would be bad for the game to come out on the Wii U now in 2018, hence my second point. 2. If the original promise had been kept, that investment into the Wii U and all the backer money and development would have been by and large wasted. It would have really hurt the sales of the game and cut off an entire market, alot of people are only going to be playing on their Switch this year, if the original promise had been kept though, few of them would have likely played it. Nintendo YouTubers wouldn't be advertising it and of all the Youtubers I've seen streaming/reviewing and in essence selling CotM, only one has not been on a Switch that I know of. So while your correct there would have been alot of upset people if they weren't allowed there money back, That had nothing to do with the point I was making, and there is a difference from the Wii U's situation and the exclusive not staying exclusive, With Wii U they literally don't have anything in return THEY have to buy a new system if they want the game, while people that invested in the exclusive content no matter what the decision ends up being are still getting what they paid for the question is whether or not others should be allowed to get it as well.

Regarding backer exclusives I too chose "Other", and I wrote something along the lines of making smaller things backer exclusive. I think a boss is too much, and a weapon possibly, but at the same time I think something should be backer exclusive. It could be a weapon, a costume, a hat, a unique icon in the menu, extra tracks in sound select ("thansk for being a backer" or something) or something visible when playing multiplayer fx., or some combinations thereof. If it's gear that affects anything (weapon/stats) I'd probably make sure it's not the undisputed best item in the game in its category, because I don't want non-backers to feel like they missed a highly significant part of the game.
TLDR: Keep something exclusive but make it less than a boss + a weapon.
Edit: It could also be a skin, but a (single) skin would be on the lighter side of exclusives. Still much better than nothing though.
