You know, when I first heard the news, I thought there might be some backlash, too. I was really encouraged by this thread, though. Then I looked at the likes for the video on YouTube: 1713 thumbs up, vs 40 thumbs down. I mean, that's 2.3% of people who disapprove. 2.3 percent. In other words, 97.7 percent of us approve. How do you get better numbers than that? The backer community's really behind IGA. I'd wager most of the negative remarks you'll find are from people who are neither backing nor have any interest in the project in the first place. They'll just jump on any kickstarter project bashing bandwagon they come accross. Best ignore them.

Yes!! I got to enjoy the monthly backer updates for another year. Also this give me more time to finish my original Bloodstained music track and hope for that 1 in a milloin chance that they'll use it in some stage in the final game. are you part of the Iga dev team or somthing? Yes. I remember the other day when I was working alongside Michiru Yamane san making a theme for clock tower zone in the castle. Then Ippo Yamada san entered the room and told me he'd let me do the boss theme too. Then my wife broke into my bedroom, woke me up, then ordered me to put away the trashes and go to work. Part of that sweet dream could seriously come true if I broke my piggy bank and go for "Igaventure" tier. I'd surely ask him if he can bring Yamane san over too. Atleast I'll get to meet them for real. =)

[there was another post of mine here, i deleted due to something more important that came into my mind]I just had a insight of why they postponed the game's release. Mana recently said that it was going to take the recent feedback on the demo to sent it to the developers. The Demo's official post had A LOT of things there. If they actually listened to everything, it is most probably that they need to do some rebuilt on the game, to meet the demo's feedback. So, it makes sense to postpone the game's release to better match what was said on the demo's feedback. Of course that is not the only reason, but i firmly believe that has something to do with it too.

im completely ok with this, wouldve been a cool bonus if the ks required placeholder we bulldozed through on our way to 5.5mil had been doable, but a great game takes time and a good team, and Igas willing to take that time to let him and his team work their magic ^_^

That would actually be unfortunate because some of the feedback goes against what igavanias are known for. Like some people asking her to be faster. She's the perfect speed for the beginning of the game I'm not saying they will acept everything that the feedback had. I'm saying that they will listen to what people said on the Demo feedback and will react accordingly. IGA already said that he is open for opinions, discussions and new ideas, but that, in the end, the game will be based around his own, personal vision and that he really thinks that this is what most fans and backers want. I think we don't need to worry about this. They will listen and will surely do some small changes on the game regarding the feedback, but nothing more than that. Even so, that requires more time to implement, wich also makes sense for the postponed release.

I have a ton of faith in IGA and his trusty team and I understand that this kind of game is really difficult to design and develop. So, I have no problem with this announcement.

She's the perfect speed for the beginning of the game I'm sorry, but I just couldn't read that without thinking about the guy from Annie Hall who argues with an author over what their work was really about. Nobody played older IGA games and thought "Oh boy, moderate walking speed!" I'd rather see IGA and his team make the game they wanted to make, even if it meant changing things from older games they worked on like the walking speed because they tested feedback and went "Oh yeah, this actually is better. I want this now."

Now that is out of my system... I'm okay with the delay and for a number of reasons. 1) I knew from the get-go that March 2017 was improbable even just for making the base game. Delays always (not could) happen. 2) Adding the extra year is a safe move. Given how we Zerg rushed through all the tiers, sorry Iga and team for putting thousands of hours of work on your plate. 3) I can actually take my time playing Persona 5 when it comes out in February. As a 9-to-5er, marathoning a J-RPG is just impossible. Take all the time you need Iga.

I felt for a fact this game was not hitting March 2017, and forget the notions this is a new IP. That was a target date for nostalgia, not a genuine release: March 2017 is the 20th anniversary of SotN, and that's the only reason it was pitched in the Kickstarter.
That said, I am surprised it's missing 2017 in full. You would have figured that by E3 they would have a floorplan of when features, systems, ideas, and implementations on how they're going about it and have a timeline available in some capacity. Being able to even showcase the opening location, almost as if it's complete, makes missing 2017 even more surprising to me. The current target date gives the impression something is weird with development, like a huge offshoot of issues, or they've finally hit an "oh shit" moment with having to make the game in full and its promised features. Especially as they've only announced they're aiming for it now. Adding apparently another development team only points in this way, as well...
I mean, consider how one of the goals was a fully-orchestrated soundtrack. We've heard no song yet that shows this. Things like that are going to add up, and I imagine they're now in the phase to really start seeing this.

Things like that are going to add up, and I imagine they're now in the phase to really start seeing this. We'll probably get a better idea of what the issue is once the new developer is announced. But it's nothing really weird at this point. This happens a lot in gave development - we just never hear about it. In fact, games are delayed even more than people think. When development starts, the team will have an internal target release date. This one is never revealed to the public. I'm willing to bet hardly any game nowadays meets this date. The public only learns of delays when they happen after the publisher has given a date. What happens with Kickstarters is not that they get delayed more often than other games, it's that, since they're forced to put out a release date at the start of a project, they reveal the equivalent to an internal target release date. So comparing them to publisher backed projects is not really fair. I know of big games that have missed their internal release date several times, made their developers pull their hair out, and come out to glowing reviews and healthy sales numbers; and the public never even knew of the delays (seeing as how the games were only announced after suffering several delays), much less the internal drama at the developer. With Kickstarters we get to see part of this - that's the difference.

Hey ya'll,thought I'd stop by and say howdy since I not been here in awhile Just wanted to say I expected this delay in fact I am sure I wrote somewhere around these forums months ago I expected a delay, and unlike FF15 which notified people like me 6 weeks before release irritating me IGA has let us know months ahead and has even hired additional staff
With the Demo seen,I am confident this game is in good hands,Just be sure someone tells IGA to not let deep silver produce any game trailers for this game and I think we will be ok,if your confused by what I mean...well check out the mighty number 9 trailer they did and prepare to cry like an anime fan on prom night

They themselves said it's a speed similar to Alucard in SOTN, and they're going for that feel. So I feel like, saying " I hope they don't change things due to people not realizing how Igavania's work" is perfectly fine There's always powerups and abilities in these games that allow you to move faster, so you don't want a quick moving character otherwise there isn't good contrast.

Q4 2019 to Q1 2020 is my ideal release date. 2018 for me is the main campaign what with all the assets major and small having to be built from the ground up as well as a fluid combat system and a serviceable plot. Where as a 2019-2020 release will also include extensive game testing and major tweaks on the bonus content such as the asynchronous multiplayer mode, rogue like mode, the two extra playable characters and finally NG+.
Anything longer then Q3 2020 seems like the devs have wasted time in earlier years. Exceptions maybe scraping major components of the game but by year 4-5 I imagine the funds running dry. My head is budgeting around 1.2 mil per year being spent on this game.
I am also on the boat for "all in one package" on release date. So I may be a bit miffed at a 2018 campaign release followed by promised content down the road. The 4-5 year dev time is my personal timeline of how an extremely polished igavania will be created.

Geez, the stuff you miss when you're getting your soul sucked out by your Advanced College Writing professor.
Anyways, yeah, I have to agree with most of the people here. I think its perfectly fine that its coming out in 2018. It was a pretty advanced announcement, about 6 months before the filler "March" release date, so it wasn't last minute or anything. I have to say, I'm kind of relieved they decided to delay it. The 6 month frame they were working with was starting to get me anxious. It seemed rather "boxed" in to accomplish everything.
Also, this community...probably the best one I've seen. You guys are rare breeds.

It's because you are looking at a community of people who play a certain game 20 years ago, loved it, and still love it 20 years after. Now those people gather together to support the guy who made that game in his attempt to make an even better game. It took 20 years to forge this community. No wonder it's one of the best. Maybe the people here can even handle a 2019 release if Iga really need it.
