I'm fully supportive of the decision to push back the estimated release day, as I've said on Twitter and the Kickstarter comments. I want Bloodstained to be known for being a good game, not just a punctual one.
That said, I do hope that they address the concerns of people who backed the Wii U version. By the time this game comes out now, that system is pretty much going to be EoL. I think it would be prudent to offer those who backed for that version of the game the option to switch to another tier of equal value.

Meh we all knew this would happen, it's perfectly normal and expected delay, I have waited 10 years for FFXV, a few months for the next good igavania is nothing.

I've got complete confidence in IGA and i'm pleased that he's willing to do whatever it takes to deliver his vision for the Bloodstained Project. I really appreciate his honesty in this update, it's obvious that he really cares deeply about both the game and what we think.
The "delay" does not matter in the slightest, but i'm interested to see who the new developers are and possibly how the workload will be split between them and the current dev team. Bloodstained is planned to be a HUGE game so more people on board is a positive step. I hope that IGA knows that we all believe in the Project and his ability to deliver what was promised.
I'll happily tolerate more delays if necessary, i dont mind as long as stretch-goals are completed and the game is well-crafted. Take as long as you need IGA, you cant rush when creating a masterpiece.

Just a short word of advice and encouragement for us fans out there: there will be a lot of uninformed negativity out there, especially if you're out on the internet looking for comments. Keep your cool and remember that there's not much reason to be upset logically at this whole thing. If you say anything, keep it concise and factual, but remember that some folks will just argue and be negative outside of reason.
Try not to delve too deep into the comment culture. There's never much good waiting for you there.

I'm REALLY curious who these devs even are, and what they will be bringing to the table. I mean, Igavania's are typically already made with small teams and are usually shot out the door but maybe they really want to take care of the castle design, and bring everything to the next level as much as possible.
I can respect that but it also lends to me even further supporting the staggered release approach because without it WHO KNOWS how long this game will be in development. It's obvious IGA wants this to be his ultimate igavania title, and whatever helps him achieve that I support.

My main points regarding the new estimated release: - I have zero problems with the new estimate for release. IGA and team need that much time to make the game great. - I hope with an extra year that the full game (including all content) will be released in one package. No staggered release please now that there is an extra year to work with to get all those extra modes, etc finished up. - I hope there won't be additional delays. Three years in development should be enough time, I would think. Three years is more than half of the typical home console life span! - I trust IGA on all things 'Vania. (maybe this should have been my only bullet point...lol)

Damn, I think that castle needs a serious plumber. Mario Confirmed. NX port.
Re: the developers, among my hopefuls would be: If US: WayForward, Yacht Club If Japan: anybody they could wrangle from Konami's past, M2, Platinum, From, Arc System Works

I have no problem with it really, and was expecting it anyway since it was mentioned in the FAQ that this might happen. Most people dont read the FAQ by the way , I think an FAQ should always be linked at the top of any project, website, etc and it should be in BIG BOLD LETTERS, even if they have to put a tacky gif or something to call attention to it. Crowdfunding projects would sail a lot smoother if they always did that. Anyway, back to Bloodstained, what I would really like to know is three things: if there is a deadline for pledging through fangamer (because I wanna see if I can up my pledge a little more when I get some dosh) , if the prequel game has also been delayed too, and who are the people that IGA is hiring to help with the development. Best of luck to IGA and all his team EDIT: in fact, it was mentioned at the end of the kickstarter, not on the FAQ, I guess its me who should read better

Ok, so I just need to say this: people need to STOP comparing Bloodstained to Mighty No. 9. I saw a few tweets and other comparative posts on other social media saying things like "Oh, I smell another Mighty No. 9..." or "Mighty No. 9, anyone?"
Mighty No. 9 and Bloodstained will be NOTHING alike. The difference between IGA and the creators of the later, is that IGA would NEVER publish something that was lackluster, or in some way lacking of the quality and work that he is renowned for.
Everyone needs to calm the f*ck down, look at things rationally, and move on with their lives. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be the best damn game of 2018.
Hands down.

I'm a little late to the party:
Just like everyone else, I saw update 43 in my inbox, was immediately filled with glee and sunk my fangs right into it. Watching IGA's video announcement, my heart sank a little at the 'delay' but mere seconds after, as IGA pledged to deliver us what is very likely to be his best game to date making no compromises (something all too common within the last decade of game development), I gained a new level of respect in not just IGA but for our community as well. Seeing how everyone is taking this so well, responding positively and with such level heads, confirms to me that this is truly something special. History in the making folks!
I'm honored to be part of this adventure and share it with you all.
Thank you IGA. And, thank you everyone!

I remember reading somewhere that SOTN took 4 years to make(someone please confirm this). So even with the new deadline, it'll be 3 years for Bloodstained. One whole year less than SOTN to make a bigger game that launch on xxx platforms.
With this in mind, March 2017 release is never a true release date from the beginning. For me personally I'd not even mind if they take 4 years like SOTN.

(maybe this should have been my only bullet point...lol) Chances are it's still staggered release, they're building everything from the ground up. Even SOTN still used a lot of sprites from a previous game. This is literally EVERYTHING from scratch in the biggest castle they've ever created. I wouldn't be surprised it's still a staggered release and if it is and they're getting it out at early 2018 because of it. GOOD. Any longer would start getting crazy, and that's the flaw in the argument about not doing a staggered release. We all warned that without it, this game would be baking for an EXTREMELY long time, to a ridiculous point where systems would be changing on us. I mean EVEN 2018 is basically the death of the WiiU and Vita. Any longer? ...eh. Staggered release ensures we are playing the game we are meant to truly be playing while releasing it at a time that makes sense for a game like this. Now, if they're bringing on developers to help with all the extra modes so that a FULL content game is released by 2018? Then fine, but again if not... I'm all for a staggered release. 3 years is already a long time for this. 4 years is scary long....

i think i can argue that delaying to first half of 2018 would mean adding SOME stretch goal content in the game(minus the console port) which is LESS stagger content. the only thing i can think of is ROUGELIKE and ONLINE FEATURES as part of the stagger content because they add nothing to the single player experience other than just fun features. my ADVICE for IGA is DO NOT ADD rouge-like and online features(look at mighty no. 9 as an example) prior to release but instead put it as a POST RELEASE FUTURE CONTENT so that you dont have to keep on delaying in the future. as for the console port, do it after STEAM RELEASE like 6-12 months later because you are going to have problems when you do simultaneous console port release route(again look at mighty no. 9 as an example). i know that you are a PERFECTIONIST like KOJIMA and some other devs but sometimes you just have leave something out that's not needed YET or balance. that said, i hope you are reading this IGA as i've been on many kickstarter projects before and sometimes not all stretch goals will be ALL IN ONE PACKAGE in release. good luck with the NEW DEV TEAM that brings beneficial to you.

Am actually very glad and relieved to hear this even though am sure many people will be annoyed. I was not a fan at all of something like a staggered release that a lot of people in the forums thought for sure it would happen and am very happy IGA while caring aout our feelings is doing first what's best for the game. I will admit it does sting especially since it's a bigger delay than I had anticipated if a delay happened but this is good. I want them to take their time and not be under any more stress (am sure IGA must have been under pressure) and enjoy their time making this game along with the scenario.I'd be interested to know who the additional developers will be.

I'm glad to see it get delayed. I didn't realistically believe it would release in the original release estimate, seemed unlikely. Hopefully everyone understands why it's happening and doesn't lose their minds over this.
