Shenmue 3

My wallet is going to have a heart attack. First Igarashi, and then Yu right after that?

i wanted more of a discussion, which is why i put it in offtopic. i think the threads kinda serve different purposes, but the Mods can do as they please :-)

My take was that the Kickstarter forum was intended for sharing other KS projects that folks might be interested in and relevant info. I mean if a discussion pops up here that's ok, but I my take was that it was mainly for info sharing. So the second thread in the Off-Topic forum makes sense to me.

Well to start off: Igarashi's Kickstarter was probably the best I've seen ever in terms of community engagement, so yeah, tough to beat as far as presentation goes. We don't know how Yu's is going to go yet as it's only been a single day so far, but I doubt he'll be able to match Igarashi's showmanship or approachability. Bloodstained's KS page was clearly set up for that from the start, which Shenmue's is not.

That said, Shenmue is also much less conducive to having its gameplay parceled out over stretch goals the way Bloodstained was. Just like Bloodstained would never be able to match Star Citizen's ability to keep designing and selling ships to make the funds skyrocket the way RSI did. Shenmue is a very narrative game, so the stretch goals are going to be less impressive by nature as there are fewer extensible gameplay elements. At most I could see a dojo mode where players could play a sort of Virtua Fighter Light versus mode. Wouldn't be bad, but it's not going to appeal to the fans in quite the same way as multiple modes in Bloodstained does.

Pretty much explained how that was inevitable up above.  If you're a fan of Shenmue, then what Yu is offering is a miracle.  I not....  well you can't parcel out Shenmue into definable gameplay options and upgrades like you can with an action platformer likd Bloodstained. 

And like I said above, there's really not much I can think of that would be a good stretch goal for a game like Shenmue in the way that Bloodstained was able to offer. It's just not that kind of a game. Maybe limited edition physical copies could a later revealed stretch goal; it's not like Bloodstained laid all its cards on the table up front either.

no biggie just hope they do paypal since i did my best today to buy a sealed copy of shenmue 2 for xbox before the game goes up in price and man it looks like it will go up for a while atleast.
