Well, they pretty much guaranteed(cheated) the success of Shenmue 3 by showing it in E3 of all places. Bloodstained had no such publicity. If it did, the funds would be twice the amount. Being annoyed is understandable, even though we got every stretch goal anyways. At any rate, it doesn't seem like Shenmue 3 will have any ingame backer exclusive content, just collectables like artbooks if you pledge enough money. You won't miss out on much if you don't back it. Actually it does have a few in game backer exclusive items/content in the way of an Arcane Scroll, an Advanced Techniques Scroll, and Ryo's Jacket costume. The catch though is that you have to back at the $160 tier or higher to get them ($300 for all of them) which honestly kinda sucks. |

I'm thinking there was insider info. Ben Judd, Iga and team all stated that they picked their funding time specifically to end right before E3. Legendary game makers don't wanna step on each other's toes lol. Ohh, that makes sense. Well done! Something else to think about though is that we may not have gotten the E3 press but there will be plenty of folks who just emptied their wallets on Bloodstained. And while they may have another month to "save up" they may not be able to make as much of a contribution. We kinda got first dibs on the open wallets by running before E3. :S |

Well you do have to consider that because of the E3 hype that there was going to be a HUGE rush at the beginning because of how well that news carries. But the consequences of that may be that the press is TOO good and as a result everyone will get in at the beginning, the donations will plateau, and there may not be any huge spike/rush at the end. Or at least not as big of a spike/rush as there could have been. |

Probably since that project already hit 2.5 million in less than a day. It still had a whole month ahead of them so I wouldn't be surprised if it surpassed or not.

I just seen the shenmue kickstarter, and the stretch goals amuses me
since they are going to make the original shenmue and shenmue 2 into a cinema shorts, is it going to explain at least the story for new people?
I always want to try new game, but with shenmue 3, I got my doubts, since it's a sequel to the old game, that I never played

I posted (in the cross-thread) that i'd only feel comfortable backing this if they included HD remakes (i'd probably settle for non HD remakes, but playable copies) of Shenmue 1&2 available _and_ there were physical copies available for PS4... though i guess i could also settle for physical PC copies. |
