I hope not. I think CV series will just go in a worse direction. It had it's time, let's not desecrate the memory.

I remember MANY people being against 2.5D, instead imploring for a 2D "vania". What was their reasoning again? Iga's vision? I would think that a 2D game would have been MUCH easier to code and meet said stretch goals. Edit: Has anyone actually got Mac version unofficially running? I tried a few different things and couldn't get the Demo or actual game to run on a Mac. Wineskin be damned.

I am surprised people even consider buying a non-funded game by Igarashi again.

Not very promising.
By the sounds of it, we will be getting Zangetsu when we get the next update, so that's great, but on the other hand I feel not having a regular update schedule will hurt. Even if it is just "Let's update you about the update", I felt we were still being heard. It doesn't seem all spelled out as of yet, and I hope I am wrong. Basically now we are just waiting for the big roadmap of 2020. A structured timeline to adhere to would make many fans less anxious.

4 times. 1: 100% Normal. 2: 100% Hard. 3: 100% Nightmare. 4: Speedrun glitch-less. 4hr.
I only have max level Miriam for normal. Am working on Max level Miriam and Familiars for all saves.

Just purchase commercial virtualization software, and possibly pay for additional licenses for Windows apps. There Mac works at a measly additional cost of several hundred dollars (Sarcasm). People don't understand what Macs require to run Windows (I don't blame them), but even then the slowdown you are going to get isn't worth it. Why go through third parties to use your own system at a reduced effectiveness?

It's a hard balance. Most people think adding difficulty requires making you 1-hit KO and dropping your damage to 1. I prefer changing timing and adding additional mechanics.
In this case I don't feel the nerf was significant. It doesn't change the nature of the game, but rather it slows it down. That being said, I don't understand the point of some of the nerfs. I will explain my thoughts on each nerf.
Familiars: Grade nerf. Understandable. Farming for power is what they want, but I feel this was aimed at Dullahammer Head specifically. Nightmare mode has them placed on the ship. I maxed them out and killed Vepar without attacking. Increased strength based on level. An actual buff. And one that makes sense, I need to do tests but I felt that levelling Familiars was pointless. Dullahammer Head has been nerfed. Doesn't really explain much. Was it a flat damage nerf, %, less heads? Needs testing.
Shard Adjustments (Decreased Power): Riga Storaema - No opinion. Craftwork - My guess is low MP free damage essentially early on. Bunnymorphosis - Kinda broken. Speed run tactic. Not sure if they are targeting to slow down speed runs or if it was just a way to bypass most other abilities. Flame Cannon - Early cheap powerhouse. Either slow down speed runs or they realized that it had a lot of bang for it's buck. Straight Arrow - OP. I basically got through the first half of the game spamming this. Chase Arrow - Genuinely surprised. I feel it has low damage and poor tracking. Heretical Grinder - Again, either the glitches make it OP or that any Shard that does rapid spam damage for low MP. Might need to rewrite code for sustained shards. Circle Ripper - Need to test more. In all my playthroughs I found it underwhelming, but maybe it was better than I thought. Shooting Dagger - Early version of Chisel Barrage? Riga Dohin - I'll admit it was better than Tis Rozain and Void Ray in some instances. The DoT aspect combined with the element type made it extremely useful against a lot of enemies. The fact that it stacked and had cheap upgrades probably also influenced the decision. Welcome Company (nerfed significantly - starting from 3 portraits instead of 5) - Major nerf. It is all around useful, cheap, and necessary for speed running. I am glad I haven't devoted time to speed running yet.
Weapon Adjustments (Decreased Power): Flying Edge - A must have weapon early game. No recoil, high range makes it great to fight with while moving. I didn't find the damage too high, but I relied on Shards for my damage. Maybe with a physical damage build it was OP. I liked it for candle breaking. Rhava Bural - Doesn't hold a candle to Shards for damage. My guess is yet again their problem was that it had so much utility attached to it. They won't nerf the idea behind it (Fast, multihit, no recoil, early weapon) so they nerf the damage. Rhava Velar - Same as above. But this one is late game. I feel this one needs to not be nerfed. It's a costly, late game weapon to craft, you want a moment of feeling OP (even though it doesn't do thousands of damage like certain shards).
Enemy HP Increases: I am going to critique both at once. My guess is that since any attack could kill these enemies that you just picked the fastest or biggest AoE attack and made them trivial. If they buffed it so Welcome Company, or Spiked Breastplate doesn't kill them one hit, I feel their decision was to make them an in game obstacle more than an enemy. OR it goes back to the Familiar Dullahammer Head being a go to for Nightmare, and they wanted to make Vepar an actual challenge. Dullahammer Head Malediction
Overall I feel other items and abilities warranted nerfs more than these (except Welcome Company and Bunnymorphosis). We will have to see how this plays out.

Actually this does bring the pay to win idea to the table. They are suggesting not only 5 cosmetic items, but shards as well per DLC pack. Shards change how you play the game. If they have a DLC pack with a shard that is good, or even buggy it could interfere with speed runners. Imagine another Summon Chair like shard, that allows zips. You might have new tech where you beat the WR by 2 minutes because one of these DLC shards.
This should be taken seriously, DLC could become Pay-To-Win on a global scale.

Not voting doesn't represent people against something. People assume no one voted or that they don't care enough to be against something. You have to be very, VERY forward when making your opinion clear.

Well Linux may work, but I doubt Mac does, and that is after third-party programs being used. That being said, how many people who wanted it on Linux had to change to a different platform that the knew would 100% work? I hope none of them had to buy a new console, only to find out it would have worked on their original choice, thus wasting money to play.

I believe SOTN regular castle is 942 AND inverted doubles for about 1890 rooms. BSROTN without inversion is just shy of 1600. Everyone is right! It just depends on how you want to count. We'll just have to make a second game with an even bigger castle so there's no debate. But how many squares will be devoid of enemies or content, such as Tower of Twin Dragons winding, empty tower, Bridge of Evil and the corridors of background, or Den of Behemoths and the 20+ squares of empty sky to high jump through?

purifyweirdshard Brent, I wholeheartedly hope that you're right and I won't argue against what you said. That's not what I'm here for. I have said what I needed to say and will leave it at that. I'm still not happy about the choice and about how and when they communicated it but I can appreciate your viewpoint of hoping for more RotN content than originally promised even if I personally would have preferred it if they wrapped it up after completing the stretch goals so they could start making that sequel ^^ I learned a while ago that discussion here about ethics, or even respect to the backers goes out the window as soon as money is brought up. It's well you have said your peace, and even better that you realize that you will only be met with criticism in the face of the all-mighty dollar. The game still isn't complete and they are already asking for more money through micro-transactions. They could have had the decency to at least wait until the game was released in all regions and the promised content that hasn't been axed was released. But i digress, we have seen time and again what surveys result in. Having an opinion on any matter seems fruitless, and even worse, any disagreement will be either met with silence or condescending convincing that we are getting a valuable deal.

All points that I agree with, was going to do an in-depth review when I got the time, but this sums it up nicely. The last half of the game felt incredibly rushed and copy/pasted. The castle itself looks very bland and early CGI days. You get glimpses of potential only for the game to drop something just as you start it. A few mechanics are introduced only to be a one time event.

Well, I am not surprised. I won't be writing any scathing retorts to this update. But I am sad to see the community divided so. I hope everyone enjoys the game and what not, but I can't deal with this company anymore. Good luck to you all, guess I'm done here.

Yea, because you didn't back at the tier for Special Backer Edition? I am pretty sure the campaign stated that only the $60+ tiers got the Backer Exclusive... If you wanted it why didn't you back at that tier? The pirates get whatever they want anyway, they have nothing to do with you getting additional content or not. Why do backers that paid an extra $32 just for the Backer Exclusive get a 300% mark-up for things that other people are paying $10 for? The terms were spelled out at the start of the campaign, changing the terms after already paying is dishonest. Wrong. I backed $175, so the rest of your argument is invalid You is a general use referring to a person who backed at less than $60, if you think I mean YOU specifically DSLevantine, then you have the wrong impression. My point is completely valid. People had the option to back at the tier, they didn't.
