Aselia Witcher 3 is amazing. I didn't play the other Witcher games, but that one is now an all time favorite. The area you start in has some quests, and depending on how you like to play, you may later find that you wish you had completed whatever quests you have come across there so they are off your quest list as you aren't likely to go back to that area. Not that you can't go back, just that you probably won't. In that area there are places of power you can find that will give you skill points. They are worth your time finding. Man... I really need to play Bloodborne.

I was excited to learn the Voynich Manuscript has had a breakthrough in translating it. Kinda ruins the mystery for it, but still.
Miriam's crystals were embedded, but that's not what she's selling. She is selling the shards which get bound to the crystals. Somehow she must be able to remove the shards from the crystals to sell them off. It sounds like just a game mechanic, but I find it untidy that I can't have some reason for it in the game world.

Ooo, I like the sound of that. Selling shards must be part of the opposite process somehow. Of course, it's a game mechanic more than anything, bit can you wrap the mechanic of selling shards in real world lore? Once the ink has crystallized, there is no removing it and leaving behind the paper that was consumed.

Well, the Ars Paulina reveals a demon cam be in a pleasant and comfy form perfectly in a crystal. However Johannes says the demon's power is transmuted. This may be a simplified answer for Miriam and the player. Some even suspect Johannes is evil, but I don't believe so. I just think the lore of the game here is inspired but not direct. This is evident in how the demons are named from the Ars Goetia, but creative liberty is obvious. Just like the whole gender discussion.
From what we can observe in game so far, it appears the power of the demon is transmuted into a shard form. (Reminds me of Innuyasha) Miriam has been previously embedded with the magnetic like crystals that draw demons to her and also their shards. Once bound to the embedded crystal that power is accessable to Miriam. This apparently can cause the crystals to grow over more of her body. Gebel's body is almost completely covered. The shards can be unbound and sold though, and Dominique warns about not carrying too many. That's what Gebel wants Miriam to do though, as he must think once she strays farther from natural humanity she will see his perspective and join him.

In the latest demo, Johannes says to Miriam, "The demons power was transmuted into that shard, then forceably bonded to the crystal embedded in your body."
I'll have to go back and get Gebel's quote.
I think the power is transmuted, not that it actually contains the actual demon.
I like the thought of the residue though, as shards like Vepar use her tenticles. As if the demon still remains somewhat intact.

I'm pretty sure it's Gremory.She turned into the Moon before taking Gebel away in the cutscene, and when she did it looked just like that. Gotta be intentional to clue in those who have a sharp eye.

I think it's important atmosphere to make it feel lived in. On the other hand, its a new castle Gebel made for Miriam if older info holds true. So... new place looks new because it may be new.
I'd rather have a well lived in castle though. Making the setting feel like something that was there and has a history long before the main character experiences it lends to the world building. CV has always been about that.

I'm so glad you brought this here. I do plan on looking more into the history and enigmatic puzzles that inspired IGA not only in Bloodstained, but in his Castlevania games as well. He really loved his birthday gift, although it was in English. Mana said he wanted to learn English just so he could read it.
Do you happen to know of any Japanese translations of these tomes? Birthday or not, I'd love to get them to IGA. They are obviously important inspirations.
When I can, I will link you to a few existing threads where I think you will like reading. A good number of us here are interested in these theories revolving around the Goetia and alchemy.
As for Alfred, I think his motivations are probably evil. He's responsible for the rituals that summoned the demons according to Johannes in the demo. He certainly wants the book from Gebel, and probably not just to prevent Gebel from using it. He likely wishes to resurrect the guild and continue his place of status in society. The plan to bring fear to the public to show the guild was necessary worked way too well. Of course, with your knowledge about the 49 seals and what the ultimate use of them could mean, this could get way more interesting! Excellent new layer you've added to the lore here.
Oh, and look at the symbols around Miriam's cursed skin. I bet you can decode them.

Kawaii af, man. I think it looks better than last time, but that might be just the cut scenes showing off more detail. Looks nice and bright. Crisp. Of course, last time the ribbons were pink, but you're not done.
I hope you can figure out the physics again. I wonder if what changed is final anyway. The fact we can still replace assets makes me very happy with this build and gives me hope for extending the life of the game though mods.
All these complaints about textures and graphics shows people want to control how it looks. Well if they want it bad ebough, they can make it look exactly how they want!

No, it being backer only in the Kickstarter was to get people them to give more money, so putting it out there for everyone would make a lot of backers very angry.
There will be no legitimate way to download the beta if you aren't a backer.

Why does Alfred want the book? Most likely power for himself. Simply keeping it out of Gebel's hands is probably also enough motivation for him, though. Alfred is easily portrayed as a confrontational antagonist, but I'd like to see his views of using such power for what he believes is for a greater good. Zangetsu is extremely ridged in his quest to destroy all things demonic, and seeing these two interact will be interesting for sure.
It's always been odd to me to think of this spell stopping time for her. Does that mean she was 10 years older than Gebel and Johannes and now they have caught up to her? Does it mean she was the same age as them and is now 10 years younger? Does it mean it stopped time for the progression of her curse only and her body aged along with her friends? They were all supposed to be the same age, and I think it's weird now. Also, it seems from her dialogue that she was trained to fight before her sleep. I had always wanted her training to be in another realm during her slumber in this world, but oh well. As for the source of the spell and it's timing, it's obviously linked with the summoning of the castle. That was done by Gebel for Miriam according to previous interviews. I think Gebel cast the spell to preserve Miriam, but fell to his corruption before he could cure her. Now he wishes to have her join him.
In SotN, IGA wanted Alucard's ending to change depending on how much he used his dark magical abilities vs using weapons. I think IGA will be doing this with Miriam, and certain story elements will change as she is corrupted. Either it will be obvious with a meter we track or it will just happen at the end. Keeping it hidden would be interesting and make you really worried about how much you use your abilities, but it would also make it tough to ensure the ending you want to get.
I have always thought people look to Johannes being anything but a good friend is silly. People should be asking this of Dominique with her role in the church instead. The church stands to lose just as much credit in a scientific age of awaking as the alchemist guild did.
Zangetsu doesn't trust shardbinders, and will destroy anything demonic. His war against the demonic is a natural alignment with the church. It seems Dominique is the contact who got everyone to the castle, and Zangetsu is part of her plans.
Oh, yeah for the bad I think. See my previous answer on question 4.
No, I think those were the only two then. However, could the ritual be used again? I don't see why not.
Gebel has been corrupted and Gremory has convinced him that it's time to change the world as he sees fit. As with most evil alliances, there has to be a benefit for both parties for it to work out. I would like to think Gremory is more opportunistic with her relationship with Gebel rather than the full reason he is acting as he is. She doesn't want him to stop, so getting him away from Miriam for now is a good move.
Knives are also in there. I think we have enough weapon types, but I'd love to see a dual sword or dual whip mechanic.
The more customization the better. Having the vanity slots will help a lot. I can't wait to see how the costume changes will look. I love that it still looks like we will be able to mod models and textures. All is looking great on this front.
I think they should be in the item descriptions or something, otherwise it will be hard to figure out. That would be different than SotN, but that wouldn't bother me. I don't think all weapons need this.
I like all of them. I think the pig is a bit goofy, but that's ok. I think basic morte can be killed too easily before it has a chance to attack. The archers are similar. Renaming Amy to Ghost is good because they probably used Amy elsewhere. The demons that are named after the Goetia should be the best ones, and that was an odd choice to use Amy on that enemy last time.
They all were interesting. Playing around and upgrading them will be fun and add a lot of variety. I love the frog can be summoned on the ceiling or toward the camera. That makes it my favorite shard.
I love all of it. I think the background look great. I was fine with the graphics overall until I saw shots of previous builds and was reminded of how good it could be. They should strive for something better than we have ever seen for the project. Move forward, not backwards! |
