So I just watched this video (yes, I'm way behind the times; I'm sorry) and couldn't help but note that Iga said to keep a little tilt in the camera angle because he liked being able to see the floor. So I think that the final product will be sticking with the perspective view. I feel silly because I didn't remember IGA directly addressing the perspective in this video. Probably because I was more than fine with the way it all looked and what he said. Natsume san "We've currently got the camera view set straight-on, but we're not sure about the angle. Right now you can see the surface of the floor slightly tilted toward you." IGA "Well, it's good having the floor in view like that. Side-scrolling games feel great with that depth of view integrated into the scrolling. Let's keep a little tilt so we can see the surface and set some parallax scrolling effects. All we have to do is avoid really difficult jumps that require extreme precision. I hate that stuff." Natsume san"Okay, so we'll leave the angle a little tilted like that. It gets tough in side-scrollers when you have to angle items properly, too." LunaClefairy, thanks for reminding me. Dangamer or Fangamer Steve, can I update my submission to the form? I'm not on team ortho anymore.

(Quoting Iga) "All we have to do is avoid really difficult jumps that require extreme precision. I hate that stuff." Bah, I forgot he said that. I hope this doesn't mean the game is going to be a cakewalk. Precision platforming is not a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with asking your players to develop a little skill.

=/ you make it sound like everyone who hates platforming has no skill...somehow I doubt you think that, but that's how that comes across..
In any case precision platforming is something I too hate. If I want 2d platforming fun I'll play prince of persia.. I mean the original 2 games, not sands of time and newer.

I apologize if it came off that way. It's just the way Iga said he wants to avoid tricky platforming, when his previous games each had at least a few instances of tricky platforming, set off the alarm bells in my head. I just don't want him to make the game too easy, or to rely solely on enemies with huge health pools for difficulty or something. Platforming played a big part in his previous games and it'd be nice if the platforming in Bloodstained wasn't extremely easy. I'm not talking Super Meat Boy type stuff, but just something in line with his older games or even the classic Castlevanias.

The platforming has rarely been the strength of IGA games unfortunately. That being said, there have been some strong spots - the Training Grounds in Order of Ecclesia comes to mind. I do hope we get some/alot of that in this game. Like obviously I'm not expecting Mario nor am I interested in pixel perfect jumps but that still leaves a lot of room for good stuff. No ledge grabbing though - that hurts pacing and it was unfortunate it ended up in Mighty No. 9.

I'd prefer Orthographic, but I'll take either as long as the game play is solid. Here's to hoping it is fluid and not clunky like Dracula X Chronicles.

I have marginal preference for orthographic because it's reminiscent of the SotN days and I long for those magcial moments to come around again. Having said that, perspective worked wickedly with Mirror of Fate and so wouldn't be disappointed at all if this projection was employed. It kinda borders on the flip of a coin. Heads or tails, it'd be a win-win situation for me.

I like it when there are not-entirely-obvious ways to traverse jump gaps that are otherwise impossible (or just extremely hard) with things like timing a familiar transformation at the right time, etc, just to reach an item/extra earlier than you would have otherwise. Iga seems to like making hard to reach spots for items, secrets and extras, but having them in the way of actual progression I can agree with avoiding. I'd rather it be a matter of using an ability/relic correctly than standing on the pixel edge of a platform...unless again, managing to make that jump just means you get some gear or something a little before you would have normally after acquiring double jump, whatever "bat" ends up being, etc.
Jumps have their place, you just don't want them to frustrate you in a part of a game where you -have- to make the jump D: ...even Souls games are good about this. The jumps are almost always to side areas.

I do agree with this, Having difficult jumps to secret areas or out of the way items doesnt detract from the enjoyment of the main game, and provides an extra bit of satisfaction when you make it, in fact i think it would be a good thing if some areas meant for after you get a movement power could still be traversed with precicion platformingwithout it, that way people who want to give themselves extra challenges could do no doublejump runs, attention to things like that and the speedrun community greatly extend the lifespan of a game once youve beaten it a few times and are looking for new ways to play it

Well, side by side, I still like perspective, and that's a surprise to me. I'm a fan of Orthographic. The second one looks like a diorama; like I am sitting here looking into a box, it makes me feel removed from the game.

Ciel I don't know, they may be able to, but I would imagine there would be reasons. I think this shader update has been the best update yet. It has reminded me though that you can't please everyone. I'm going to have to get used to people being angry about the game and choosing how I let it affect me. I feel bad when someone doesn't like something about the game, but it's just gonna happen.

Yeah it's true, the gam can't please everyone, and everyone is entitled to have their reasons for disliking it. But I really think some of the 'shitstormers' in THIS case are ranting about something that should have been obvious all along IMO. For those who think the perspectiveness grew since the proof of concenpt, that's ok... provided you mention that instead of acting like it was going to be strict 2D all along, which obviously never ever was the case.

XD I know you're joking because you mean to tease people who are opposed to 3d who wanted 2d...but May I kill you because I like lament of innocence and curse of darkness alot but cared not for lords of shadow and used LoS as your definitive 3d castlevania? GRRRR, MURDER!!! GRAWRR.
