I really like this thread. I think it's important to have something that speaks specifically about the visuals, even if these visuals are early. I'm sure as much feedback as possible will only help the dev team.

Or a littlebit less red, more darker into the background? CastleDanI think the dev-team don't read the forum. If yes, its nice.

Or a littlebit less red, more darker into the background? CastleDan I think the dev-team don't read the forum. If yes, its nice. They don't read the forums directly, but the best of the discussion gets compiled, translated to Japanese, and sent their way. So they DO get the feedback from this community. Also I do like how you've made the dark corners darker, getting more of a contrast with the light sources.

Also kinda shows that the less bright and happy it looks the better it looks. It's a demon castle, it should look spooky not inviting and that darker look looks great

I agree, keep the really nice colors but they should go for a moodier overall look like that image. Looks way more pleasing visually

It looks good a appropriately moody. I like this a lot. Goes to show you what a bit more darkness, and color can do for something

Looks way more pleasing visually When the background is darker, its dosen't look more as the 3d game. I don't like soooo the 3d style, like much more the 2d style from the first gameplay video. Hope they goes back to the roots.

Not sure I have a concrete opinion on the darker lines some of these shader modifications have. I feel in some shots it makes things look better and in other shots it makes things look worse. The fog is fine as an occasional weather effect but that room doesn't seem the appropriate place for fog. That's more for any exterior locales or places within the castle very close to the exterior.

Add some fog... that was nice... a comparison: i agree that color scheme gives that area a very unified look, i dont think a red fog fits the area but it looks like it could be used nicely in an area closer to water or outside, im really torn between the darker room, on one hand it is very moody and rthe grayer, more weatherworn stone would be perfect for the starting area, accompanied by a storm outside where lightning flashes occasionally and illuminates the room briefly, allowing all the exquisite detail to still show before the room fades back into darkness, while the lighter marble and rich wood textures would be at home in a library further inside the castle, where the lighter tones would work with the candles and to create more ambient light i have the feeling the precise reason why this room looks the way it does and why it seems to be somewhat random is to mesh different looks together into a single room and see how the shaders will end up impacting the full game, i have the feeling theyve made other rooms with a similar mashup of assets and were just seeing one of them ^_^

I think the darker background without the extra fog looks good though. It doesn't look as kid like. It looks more.....spooky? I much prefer the shielding of the over 3d look and making the game much more moody

I like wavetraxx's take. The original screenshots look too bright, too flat and not gritty enough. Anyway, I think the best reference would be Guilty Gear Xrd. I mean, look at this:

I think I like that pic even better than the one I submitted with my opinions. Great job. Fangamer reads this forum and they can relay messages to the design team. When we get an official community manager, communication will get more proficient.

Yeah kinda shows that the shader is fine just needs slight adjustments. Darker colors, darker edges around everything, less of a tilt...and it'd be gold

As close to no tilt as possible. The preferred look is to try and get it as close to the sample video as possible. I think that was the perfect look for this game ( except the character model which has greatly improved since then)... The look of what you did plus the darker background in the recent fix up to me looks really close to the sample, however like I said the tilt needs to be greatly reduced. If they did that, it'd honestly look almost perfect. Could the other 2 shaders be even greater? Sure, but such little changes can do much for what they already have.

Make it darker, more atmospheric: Way too dark, but the fog was a cool bonus, I like it, fangamer should send these suggestions to the development team. About the tilt, I agree with CastleDan.

I think the key points to send to INTI -
- A bit more moody, lower the brightness a bit - Add a more cell shaded outline over everything. Gives it a bit more of a nice style and gives the environment a more drawn and gritty look - Lessen the tilt as much as possible
With those three points it'll already look vastly better which is obvious by the edits you guys made. Good work!
