Really stoked for what they are coming up with VISUALLY as that's hugely important in a IGAVANIA. The atmosphere and the look is what helps absorb you into the world. With the promise ( potentially?) of showing us the shaders in the next update it'll be exciting to finally get a glimpse at the game. My personal hopes with the shader is to get the game to look as close to a 2d look as possible. I want it to feel drawn, i want it to look like it's just artwork assets in a game with a lot of attention to details. I know some out there want a more realistic grit to it but I worry that the charm of IGAVANIA games will be lost and it will resemble more of Lords of shadow in comparison. Thoughts? Share your excitement? what do you hope in terms of visual style. ( btw i love the above concept art, the visuals there look really nice in some places) I think the sample video they first showed us wasn't a bad style in fact, but the character still had to much of a 3d look and feel down to her idle animation...However, working on that as a base would not be a bad idea.

Oh, I agree, I think that the revelation of what will end up being the visual style will be huge, maybe even our most important update. However, I get the feeling that it will be an ongoing process of feedback and adjustments to really get it down. Have you been following Indivisible and how they've given insight into their shading/layering? Modern polishing of 2D effects is pretty interesting.
Even in Guilty Gear Xrd's case, -Revelator- has updated the already excellent visual design of that game. The lighting and detail on the models have improved while still keeping to the original 2D feel. Even further, the console version of Revelator updates the graphics again.
It gives me hope for the future if the look and feel of classic gaming can be preserved beautifully in the modern age.

Thanks for sharing what to expect with the shader situation and the heads-up about the delay! It sounds like you're making the right choice. I'd rather take a bit more time to do something right than just rush something out.

Thanks guys for giving us an update and some confirmation on the shaders. It's something I've been very excited about.
So is the shader being applied to real assets? ( dumb question but I'm not understanding of game design)

I'm actually not too picky about shader choice. Back ground art with the stained glass and whatnot is more important to me...But it would be really cool if they make it so you can see 'rays' of light shine thru the stained glass.. I'm still happy to hear/see more news though, so I'm not complaining!
I am more interested in what kind of hair-style Miriam is wearing there though. The forehead looks similar but the side hair doesn't seem to match how I see her otherwise.. not quite.

I'm very curious about the shaders, it'll give the game the look that defines the style. I'm very excited to see the two shaders and how different they are. For me the winning shader will be the shader that gets the closest to the look of IGA's previous 2d games
