Perhaps he meant like how the cape colors were visible? But also that the different customizations are tied to in-game effects and stats, whether silly, Easter eggs or actual significant boosts. It's not just headgear, either, as you'll notice they changed the colors of the outfit around as well, skin color (though they didn't outright say it), etc.

There's a section of equipment called head gear that changes you appearance and will have different stat boosts and such.
Also they said you will be able to change the color of what you're wearing or even details like your hair.

I paused it to talk on the phone and then i came back and it was gone. What was the surprise reveal? That?

IGA has to do the autograph session at PAX right after the panel, then the questions and answers need to be translated, filmed, and edited. |

Gotta say, I'm super happy because of the customize system. I don't really care to change every aspect of her like it's some sorta create a character. That takes me out of the reality of the experience. I DO however love that you can get equipment that changes your looks. Hopefully that extends to other areas besides just your head.
Fantastic reveal. I always said for an IGAVANIA to top SOTN for me it has to expand upon the gameplay that game presented and this is doing just that. Not only are familiars are back but they will have a good role in it, and not only is equipment changing your looks back but they've expanded how it will be used also.
That's how you top a game people. Not by taking some ideas away and putting in new ideas, but expanding on what made a previous game great AND putting new additions in.

A lot of the panel was going into what it took to run this campaign and make it an actual success. I transcribed most of the key points below: Before the Campaign
[*]Miriam was Frakenstien/Golem/Homonculous type creature > moved to a Human but Cursed to make it easier to relate to her
[*]Miriam was more "sexy" to show off skin for the Crystal Curse > moved to more moderate design as seen
[*]Game was a globetrotting event (in part because it was a more publisher friendly model to add DLC) > moved to Castle (for the fans)
[*]Success of Mighty No. 9 helped Ben convince Iga to jump Konami ship
[*]Went to all sorts of publishers for a year > got the runaround
[*]Kickstarter model works for games that appeal to small but rabid fanbases
[*]Were worried that 2014 was a down year for Kickstarter
Campaign Tips
[*]Try/consider weird stuff, but don't get attached to anything
[*]Stuff for campaigns should make things better for the backers
[*]All sides have to work together to make enticing but realistic stretch goals
[*]Plan MONTHS ahead
[*]Make meaningful updates
[*]Respect the backers – fans take curs from you
[*]Help build the fandom (something in place for the game to launch into)
[*]Talk to fans, make them feel appreciated and happy

[*]Ended up being key in getting feedback to adjust campaign before it even launched.
[*]Discussion that followed was watched & influenced stretch goals and manner in which campaign was written.
The Campaign Launches!

Customize!
[*]“Customize” system for Bloodstained announced (see art posted already), may influence stats as well
[*]More creative collaborations in game are teased, especially with regards to the Customize system (note that the bottom right outfit in the art is a Gunvolt reference)

I hope costume pieces aren't tied to character stats. It's frustrating when you get equipment you like but it has low defense/isn't practical to wear, or when you want to have high defense but don't like how the equipment looks. EDIT: crocodile, that's a great write-up! You could make it its own thread. |
