It seems I have not been paying enough attention. Someone at kickstarter posted this a while ago. I'm not hating, I just want to know what I missed, and when this was changed:
"FAQ #13
Why is the disc $60?
The Kickstarter Edition of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night won't be sold at retail. It comes in an exclusive slipcase and it's preloaded with backer-exclusive content—the Swordwhip, the only weapon powerful enough to unite Teams Sword and Whip, and a super-secret boss who you'll have to foil to earn it."

^the iga backpack dlc for ps4 is now coming out on July 3rd, unfortunately. I understood that, but why it should also delay the content for backers (assuming it does) because they chose to extend these perks to the general public is what I don’t understand. As I said, incredibly poor business practice, if true.

Don't know. Haha, I didn’t expect you to answer for it personally. Cheer up, regardless of what happens in the first few weeks, we’re going to have a helluva game, and that’s the primary thing to keep in mind. The rest won’t matter much after that.

Ouch. I think that changed maybe based on the Google surveys (I think they were on Google) and 505 Games doing the $9.99 DLC announcement. The more everyone goes into the details of this, yeah, I can see why some feathers would be ruffled. I think the stuff like the Beta demos (which we had the chance to assist on with feedback) and the "free" Curse of the Moon were the main reasons to back at this point versus waiting once the game was going to reach its primary goals. (Of course, the basic backer slipcase is a nice touch, though I'm not personally in love with its design.)
But yeah, @bloodymiri , I kind of understand what you mean about waiting for the full release on a lot of levels, especially if that release comes sooner rather than later. In my case, I may not even play the game till next year anyway after the console I backed it for was dropped, so in some ways it makes even more sense to wait. But I wanted to support the game and enjoyed being able to provide feedback. Not sure how to feel about all this at this point. I'm not particularly upset, but I'm not particularly thrilled about it all, either.
I kind of had a similarly mixed experience with Yooka-Laylee, where I payed in when there were no plans for a physical release, and then had to get the physical release with all the fixes afterward. With Mighty No.9, I got the full benefits, more or less, by waiting it out.

It's awesome that we're getting such a cool poster, but can you please ship it rolled, not folded? It would ruin such a nice poster..............

Does anyone know if the poster dimensions are cm or inches? I'd prefer meters but I'll settle for ft.
Kidding aside it's probably inches since Angel is located in the US.
Kojima's art is excellent as always but sad to see Japanese gamers getting hit with such a sizeable delay.
Maybe IGA could visit them in person and hand each backer a signed US copy of the game.

I don't think Kojima's art is a good fit for the cover because it would be too small for someone to really be able to tell/appreciate what they were looking at. Having something simpler/obvious front and center but also beautiful is the way to go. The thing we're getting it on suits the composition best. edit: oh about the thing about when it was decided/announced for the backer exclusive stuff changing, it was talked about here, update 84 on 5/23, starting with "As many of you will remember,"

But that update doesn't say if the dlc is going to be off disc or not now. They still could have printed two versions at the time, one with and one without. I would just like some clarity on this. I understand with that it will be available to everyone now (still think it should have been exclusive for a window of time, but I digress) but the main reason for physical for me was to have the game in a "complete" form for later years. We have recently seen digital games getting removed and their servers taken without any recourse for the users.

Apologies if this has already been covered. There are suddenly many dates and changes to keep in mind. This update is saying that the backer content DLC is delayed for retail versions. And, this delay also applies to backers, even though we expected to automatically have the weapon and boss in our files? And, we're still getting the Day 1 patch which has nothing to to with the "DLC"?

RichterBIn the end since there was always going to be multiplayer, there would never have been a totally complete disc after online support was removed, but as far as single player goes yea I agree that is sucks we won't get the "whole" game, I won't mind so much if Artplay continues to expand upon the game beyond it's original concept for a year or so, that was and still is the most important thing to make a great game that would surpass expectations.

“We also have an update for our Japanese backers on the delay for their territory. Currently we’re still working to confirm exact dates but initial estimates indicate a delay of a few months to release the game publicly in Japan. Everyone on the Bloodstained team regrets and apologizes for this inconvenience, publishing the game in Japan as soon as possible is a top priority for all of us and we’re taking the following steps to address this for our backers in the short term:
All Japan backers will receive a Steam key for the game on June 18, 2019
As soon as digital keys are ready for PS4, NSW and XB1, they will be sent to all Japan territory digital backers. We anticipate this will be before the public launch of the game.
Physical game copies will also be sent as soon as they are ready. ”
These paragraphs really confused me. So as a backer who backed PS4 JPN digital and Switch JPN physical version but living in Australia, when will/could be the dates that I could get my games? Will that be 18th Jun for PS4 digital and 25th Jun for Switch physical or "wait another few months" for both of them?

As far as the concerns from everyone go to wanting a "Complete Edition" I share your desire's however that would mean essentially delaying the game another 6 months... or year or more. Quite frankly I think that would have harmed the project far more than any good would have come from it. I remember how disappointed I was last year at hearing about the delay, I for one would have seriously been losing faith if we didn't even have a release date at this point and a great many would have given up/lost interest and/or started to tear down the project in social media (we all have seen that off and on throughout the project.) There have been and are many that will say don't release the game till it's done and in general thats a great philosophy but it's foolish to believe that after a certain point in today's environment the masses will still stay supportive and like them or not (I usually don't) the masses are going to be a huge part in whether or not this project is successful. I don't know if I'll buy the "complete edition" if it does indeed come out eventually (We know it is an idea they have however we don't know when or if it will come to be) But I do know that even if it does my backers copy will still be prized by me. Okay, I've been pretty reasonable about the various little--let's call them wrinkles--along this wacky crowdfunding ride. This one irks me. What I'm now hearing is that the backer EXCLUSIVE content (which is no longer exclusive, and I won't beat that horse again) won't even be available until a later date, something like half a month later (I'm on PS4)? So, the special perk to showing some faith and backing the game is now delayed because it was decided to be offered as DLC, and now they can't get the DLC out on time, so our completely non-DLC reward incentive is likewise being delayed? Do I have this wrong? Don't misunderstand, I'm enormously grateful to the developers of this game. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I have faith it will be nothing short of an exceptional experience. But I'm not one to dismiss poor business practices. I hold myself to that standard, and I hold others to it as well. Damaging your good will with your most faithful customers because you wanted to extend their perks to a wider audience is a big no-no, by any reasonable standard. My understanding of the situation is that the primary cause of the delay (I could be mistaken) is fixing bugs and problems with the DLC. If that's the case the only way to "fix" the delay is to delay releasing the game, someones gonna be unhappy no matter what. I too wish that they had just delayed a month or so but this game will hopefully be huge enough that a delay of a few weeks will not be too noticeable, I sincerely hope this won't be a game I'll be putting down after a couple days myself. In short it's not ideal no but it's not worth getting upset over either. Printing two different disc's still costs money and since the DLC in question is being delayed that would mean that backers wouldn't get their copies for weeks after release, like I've said no matter what someones not gonna be happy.

We have recently seen digital games getting removed and their servers taken without any recourse for the users. All discs are the same, the separation is that backers get a code for the backer content rather than paying 9.99 for it, as outlined in this update, starting with "As many of you will remember,"Apologies if this has already been covered. There are suddenly many dates and changes to keep in mind. This update is saying that the backer content DLC is delayed for retail versions. You will be getting your Japanese copies with the same timing that the Japanese people who picked that version will. It's that version specifically that's delayed for various technical approval/ratings reasons with CERO etc, rather than just a delivery issue. That being said, you would be eligible for whatever other extra measures/things they deliver to Japanese copy backers for having to wait longer - and the PS4 code should be delivered ahead of the physical ones. I imagine the "territory" part threw you off there, I think "region" would have been a better way to phrase it because it's just about the game copies and not geography.
