In all seriousness, if the latest update is accurate in that its a character nobody will guess, that can only be true if its a character that has yet to be revealed publicly. Literally every other publicly revealed character (Anne, Mysterious Man, playable characters from COTM, etc.) has been guessed over and over again (not just now but over the entire development of the game). So y'all should save your breath or try to guess the actual narrative of the game and choose from there. Maybe the last playable character is the "real villain"! Who is the real villain? Who knows but its a better guess that what everyone else is posting if the update is accurate/not misleading in that comment  |

Here follow the ranks of the daemons listed in the Ars Goetia:

So:
Kings (Sun) Marquisses (Moon) Dukes (Venus) Prelates (Jupiter) Knights (Saturn) Presidents (Mercury) Earles (Um... not Mars? This stuff is always weird)
Of these, typically the Sun is considered the greatest and in Abrahamic angelic hierarchy it gets attached to Michael, or the one who is like God, or Metatron (also one that is equal to god, though this is in some sources split with Sandalphon representing the moon), etc. Sources vary greatly in these attributions.
Belial strikes me as the likely big bad as his entry states he as created just after Lucifer:
Seems fitting.
Interestingly, there are not 7 'most high' but four, which echoes the angelic attributions to the four winds, elements, humours, etc.
So those four (Belial (Sun/South), Beleth (Sun again?), Asmoday (another Sun??), and Gaap (Mercury; don't ask me to figure that out)) stand a good chance of being the big bad or super bosses or something.

You can also approach it by gameplay variety and previous Iga game examples. Miriam - essentially, from what we know, we can solidly say she's a Soma/Alucard/Shanoa type character - all weapons. Zangetsu - from what little we have seen, draws from Julius/"sword Belmont"/Maxim/Getsu Fuuma/Alucard - sword only (assumedly). So what does that leave, character archetype and weapon styles, that we've often had in the past in these games? My logic had always been the caster was missing. The Yoko, Sypha, Charlotte type - and the most obvious equivalent to them before Alfred in CotM was Dominique, and behind her Gebel. In 2017-early 18, she was top contender for the spot, and now not. All 3 of those cast members seem to be out from Angel's comments (and this isn't the first time he's pointed out that we wouldn't be able to guess them, that goes back to over a year ago). This is part of the reason why I created an Alfred thread back then, predicting that his weapon type as a playable character would be "Tomes". |

I am curious if the Church isn't the corrupt organization as has become the trope but is in fact a Holy agent? There is art of super corrupted Miriam and 'Holy' Enochian lettering is used to allay the Crystal Curse; perhaps there is divine aid in the game?
