I wasn't planning on coming back to this forum after the launch window announcement because as some may know I was really disappointed in how this Kickstarter project has been handled ever since the Linux and Mac cancellation, but I gotta say a few things and this thread makes the most sense to post my comment.
First, I'll concede that there are clear improvements being made to this game and that I was too critical of it before, partially because of my frustration with the project. Second, my interest in this game has been rekindled, though not that much. I will wait for reviews before I buy it and if the reviews of this game aren't mostly positive I'll wait for a discount. Third, some Linux backers just crossed the line and started verbally attacking 505 Games staff on the Kickstarter page and that's just completely ridiculous, and because of that I don't stand with them anymore. If they were superbackers I would understand their frustration because it would mean they spent a considerable amount of money only to get nothing in return, but those people are just out of their minds right now. There's simply no excuse to being so aggressive like they're being now. And them spreading lies about how the game is going to be a flop when it's the 3rd best selling game on the Switch and the overall reception of the game is highly positive doesn't really help their cause as well.
So now I'm cautiosly optimistic about this game and will keep an eye on the following updates until release.

What's stopping me from getting excited? Just plain experience. So many good games have gone down the drain, plenty recently too. Not that I'm expecting a flop, but the past is keeping me anchored to the ground.
While I realize it's a pipe dream, I'm honestly still hoping that Linux support might be implemented post-launch. Taking the update at face value, it seems like the Linux and Mac ports kept running into middleware issues and budget and schedule was too tight to allow that and they were cut. So maybe once the game is out and at least the schedule won't be as tight, they could have another crack at it. Or hire a company to port it. It won't matter to me much now, but I'm planning switch fully to Linux when Windows 7 support finally ends.

I'm afraid the strange/weird/cheesy lips movement when characters talk will make me lose my excitement for this game. Also, other weird things like that. lol

The Superbacker title next to someone's name does not denote a higher pledge than other backers, only amount of campaigns involved with, per the official description: help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005132773-How-can-I-get-a-Superbacker-badge-So essentially, they just back a lot of things. They could very well have less or more than average invested, but in general spread themselves out a lot of places.

But still, as far as I know not a single Linux / Mac backer has come out and said they backed this project at a high tier. From what I've seen, most of the Linux backers has backed at the $28 and $60 tier, which to be honest is not enough to warrant the shit show they're causing in the Kickstater page.

I understand what you mean by that, though everyone that invested in this project should be treated equally and have their voice heard regardless of amounts. If Mac/Linux fans are not breaking any rules, here/elsewhere, they are within a fair capacity to state how they feel. Ostracizing or silencing/cenosring them otherwise would be a net negative over the initial perceived positive of throwing a legitimate issue under the rug. Anyway though, I'm offering to buy their copies of the game they think they can't sell and they aren't biting.

Well, if telling the staff to go f*ck themselves and other stuff along those lines isn't breaking any rules then it's fine, I guess. But I wouldn't call removing comments like that "silencing / censoring", it's just plain old good moderation. In forums that I'm a member of if someone steps out of line and starts verbally attacking other users they get a soft ban and if they do it to a staff member then it's a perma ban. But yeah, if those kinds of comments are really not breaking any rules then nothing can be done.

Oh @konodiada , that would definitely be a problem here and constitute moderation for sure. The thing is, Kickstarter doesn't have moderation. The only semblance of a feature like that is that the project's official accounts can "report" a comment and sometimes that works and sometimes not. Otherwise, there's nothing at all we can do, and the reason for that is likely to prevent abuse from project runners in the manner of such silencing. All said, what it amounts to is a really terrible communication platform with not even searchable posts, sorting, tagging, linking a post, any basic editing, etc etc. It's more or less the home of the project, though, so we (by we I mean the official people and a volunteer like me) do our best to keep up with it the best we can. Other projects might not, but we are fairly sizable and it's an important responsibility. I had a mini rant about all that stuff in another post here if you're interested ;p bloodstained.forums.net/post/62694

At best, ignore negativity on the web. General. Do not engage, but you can read and draw thoughts from anything really. Nobody is right or wrong in any case, because its always personal references and feelings behind them. Or just lack of them sometimes.
Anyway, if there is any feedback for Bloodstained, good and bad, let it be knows. Be as constructive as you can, mostly touch upon subjects like why, how and when. And if anything maybe suggest solutions or ask for answers if its too confusing.
Everyone has the right to be heard. Logically, in a calm and, like I said, constructive way. If you are sad, angry about something, just state what it is.
Everything above goes for any thought, not just Mac / Linux.

I learned to stay away from Reddit a long time ago. Even creative posts and wonderful ideas have in the past gotten downvoted to oblivion when I helped and wrote about another game, which I won't talk about here.
That's how I feel about the Kickstarter comment section - to call it toxic is an understatement. If I were Angel or Question, I would find it very demoralizing to have to read that bile day after day. Even great updates such as the release date reveal and the more recent graphical improvement comparisons were met with negative feedback from a very vocal minority who seem to enjoy drowning out anything positive. I really don't get it; backing on Kickstarter is like investing in many ways. Why the hell would anyone want to see something they invested in fail when it's in their best interest to see that the project succeeds? I could be wrong but it feels as if a few of the posters on the Kickstarter page almost display a certain level of schadenfreude sometimes.

Because, for most of them, tossing a few bucks entitles them? That's the only way I can take it. They're entitled little....'whips' I'll say for now, that think backing at $10-25(I understand, with 2 kids and a car that has problems every other day, that money can be rough at times) automagickally assume that entitles them to have it all their way or no way.

I think it's just the first outlet for all their anger that they have an actual justification for using, flimsy as it might be. For the most part you can't show or express your anger elsewhere since it wouldn't be proper and you wouldn't have an excuse for it, but now they have at least a sliver of justification and they're milking it for all it's worth, insisting that it's about fraud and unfullfilled promises and what not. It's weird how a few units of currency thrown at something can become so important to some people.
Or they're just the angriest subset of (former?) backers, ones that would cause the stories of such places as IDontWorkHereLady and MaliciousCompliance when they're not clinging to complaints on the internet.
Whatever the case may be, their existence is certainly no reason to be ambivalent about Bloodstained.

I just want to come here and say for the record as the one who was "verbally attacking [...] staff" that I have been discussing this issue with 505 for two months and getting nowhere. If you read the entire conversation you will see that I was very upset about yet another revelation they decided to drop on Mac / Linux users out of nowhere, the closing of the platform exchange window without prior notice. I have already apologized for said outburst. If there was moderation on KS I would ask them to remove the post in question myself, but there isn't. One post does not suddenly make us wrong. I personally have been verbally assaulted and had swear words thrown at me many times since this situation started and have for the most part kept a level head, but sometimes as people we get pushed too far. We have been badly treated, if these actions were pulled with pretty much any other platform there would be an immediate outrage on a level that makes ours look civilized. Imagine if they canceled PS4 with no refunds, do you think you would be all kumbaya with 505? Anyway, that's all I have to say on the matter come to your own conclusions. - Our platform canceled
- They claim it has to be canceled to finish the project, but refuse to commit to releasing our platform after the project is finished
- No refunds or any other mitigation offered, other than to switch to another platform
- They do not even attempt to follow the KS TOS requirements which are 1) refund; 2) explain how the money was spent; and 3) explain why they couldn't complete the project
- They admit they have money, but claim it is not for backers, and explain it is possibly/probably hidden in another legal entity
- They give single sentence excuses "middleware and staffing issues"
- No explanation what middleware, what staffing issues, they claim this is sufficient to meet monetary obligations
- Do not explain why they didn't see this middleware as a potential issue from the beginning, and why they still chose to adopt it
- They add an entirely new platform that wasn't even part of the KS, using resources that should have gone to platforms in the original KS
- For a month their answer to the issue is that we should go sell our non-transferable digital licenses, possibly illegally, and certainly with us accepting all liability
- The platform change mitigation is withdrawn without notice, or any indication there was a specific window within which it had to be requested
- etc. etc. etc.

Time 4 Tea Sometimes people need help. And they use internet to show the world that they aren't feeling well. Everyone has issues, but "trolls" and alike are stuck in some kind of evil spiral. And frustration leads to more frustration if someone ask them whats wrong, that they are wrong or that someone agrees that the trolls are right and the rest are wrong. There is really no right or wrong, just happy thoughts - or evil spirals. Best way to avoid spirals like that, is not to participate. Surround yourself with positive people, creative ones! As a community responsive person (talking about general here, not me) - you really gain a whole lot from being around a good and kind team. Whenever there are troll-posts or angry posts, you simply answer with facts if you have them. Or a answer like "we will look into it" or similar. Even though someone is angry, sometimes they have a good point. But if people keeps on looping the same stuff over and over again, its best to leave it alone, unless you want full control which is never any good idea, and that by blocking, deleating or changing stuff around. Something that can become a corporate nightmare. You want to avoid such things. This forum here started out as unofficial, but became official which is excellent. This thanks to passionate people, surrounded my like-minded. And this forum have had some angry posts, right? But at the end of the day, everyone have shared creative and good ways to talk about different topics. This to allow discussions, but respect to grow. Not only between members but only to the companies that handle this IP. It might take some energy, but being a community manager, marketing strategic master of some kind, you really can pick and choose what to say, not say, fix and take into consideration before posting an answer. If some fan, are wrong, the mentality of "this guy is really passionate about this project, and while he is wrong, we see no harm in it. He will see when the product is ready how that game, feature or whatnot works. In the meanwhile, I will share facts". Mentality to see challenges instead of issues is key. 505 Games does a hell of a good job. While I do not speak for them, this is how I see things around any kind of project that are handled with great care and a huge fanbase behind it.

I wanted to say this to you in the Kickstarter comments section but since I paid via paypal it wouldn't let me, so I'll say this here--*please* keep in mind that Fangamer isn't a huge company. They're dealing with thousands of emails for a variety of issues, since Bloodstained was so successful, and at this point (especially as the release date nears), they're deluged with folks wanting to update addresses, making sure backer information is accurate, dealing with Inti Creates' publishing problems with Curse of the Moon, and so on, and so forth. I know it's tough waiting, but considering how overworked they are (I can't say too much, but take it from someone with a bit of 'behind the scenes' knowledge, Fangamer staff like Steve and the others have been putting HERCULEAN amounts of effort into dealing with the problems we've run into), 2 weeks isn't a massive amount of time to wait. Angel is still paying close attention to you guys (and he has a lot of his own stuff to deal with, remember that as a 505 employee he also has to keep on top of Indivisible and other games) and I know purify has also offered to buy your copies. Nobody's happy about the misfortune regarding Mac and Linux backers, but please be patient before accusing the staff of scamming you or similar malfeasance. Stuff like this is indeed disheartening and a huge inconvenience for everyone, but the team is fervently trying to find solutions and make things right.

It's completely understandable to be upset in your position, but verbally attacking the staff of a project is inexcusable no matter how upset you are. I have backed my fair share of Kickstarter projects, some of which were handled even worse than Bloodstained, but I never stooped low when voicing my grievances with the projects. And that's also why I didn't back this project, at this point I know better than throwing money at promises that may very well not be fulfilled. But that's not the point of this discussion, so forgive my digression. Also, I'm not saying you're in the wrong, I just said that you crossed a line that I would never cross and that I can't stand behind that. I have been following this whole debacle very close and I know very well how you've been treated by other users in the KS page, especially two particular individuals whom I know have verbally attacked you and some other backers who share your sentiments on this project. I'm not asking for people to be silenced either here or in the KS page, just that we maintain a certain level of decency and that those who do not comply with it have their comments rightfully moderated. But apparently that's going over people's heads and I'm being painted as the "Censor Devil" here.
And I think you may be mistaken about this "exchange window closing" thing. The closing of the platform exchange window, as far as I understood, is not about the change to physical copies that was proposed to Linux backers recently, but the one that was offered when the cancellation was announced. Back then, you were also given the opportunity to change platforms and I believe that that was the exchange window that closed. If this was about the change to physical copies then Angel would've explicitly said that, at least that's what we hope / expect.
That said, I hope you get something out of this whole mess, be it through official means (refund or lawsuit) or through the suggested options that Angel and other members came up with.

Am I that shallow, or, I really just want a game? If it was possible, I would've backed a long time ago even if I didn't have a proper console, just for the sake of having a new game. With this much pessimism happening like, months ago, it's really weird seeing people suddenly being excited for the game because of the window release trailer. I feel neither glad nor disappointed. Just this: "仕方がない", as Japanese folk say. It's hard to symphatize when you're not really affected, eh? Is that the same as the mentality of "the end justifies the means"? I hope not. I religiously watch the trailer once a day to admire the updates and improvements

@konodiada I totally understood what you were saying, and agree with all your points. I just wanted to point that out about Kickstarter and mention our values for communication publicly. I definitely stand for well treatment and decency, no intention to label you a proponent of censorship and all that. That was me talking higher level/more abstractly than the issue itself as well. A direct insult to anyone isn't standing here. Otherwise I agree with some of you guys' general sentiments here, but absorbnix/jph is not one such depressed troll or any of the like. I think those types are out there, but if you read his list there, you can see that he has a clear head of concern about all of this legitimately and is mindful of his conduct. Like I've said before regarding this issue, please give it space. Thanks

I missed something then, sorry. Whoever was saying that had to either not mean it or they aren't being fair. Carry on :x
