Is the artwork for the characters of this game made by Mana or an artist internal to Inti? I think it's Yuji Natsume again, but he changed his style a little bit.

The health bar looks shorter than it could potentially be. I wonder if they've got power ups that will extend that hidden in the game. It also looks like you'll start as Zangetsu and then need to find the other character. I'm wondering if there will be any backtracking in this one because of that. The one thing that I missed was that there doesn't seem to be a health bar for the bosses.

Don't know if this has been asked or not, but does anyone know if this is gonna get a physical release down the road? I’ve tried to get an answer for this question, as well. Would love for Fangamer to do a vita release, as they’ve done with Undertale, and if they need someone to publish it outside of NA there’re lots of awesome publishers to do it. East Asia Soft comes to mind... or Strictly Limited Games. Considering these two publishers, there would be no ESRB/PEGI/CERO rating on the cover as well.

Busterific I believe that is the case because each character has its own life bar, with specific sizes. As you can see at this screenshot, Zangetsu has the largest health bar in the game. Due to the fact that they tried to make each character unique and useful on their own way, i don't see the health bar getting upgrades.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to mention that, since i believe they did that on a really interesting way. By mixing all the articles and translations talking about the game so far, it seems the characters will work like this: ZANGETSU Highest HP and highest attack power. Regular range. No downsides.
MIRIAM Second best fighter in the game. Range is higher than Zangetsu but damage and HP is lower.
ALFRED Lowest Health and damage, but highest damage when using special attacks.
Gebel More like a "gimmick" character with a higher focus on mobility and anti-air attacks.

Yes there will be some sort of backtracking each of the characters will have unique skills like Miriam can jump higher Gebel can turn into a bat and they will let you obtain multiple endings after you free them from bosses, I guess it could be multiple endings like Castlevania 3 depending on who you have in your party to watch the castle crumble with you and whether there still alive. Is the artwork for the characters of this game made by Mana or an artist internal to Inti? I'm certain it's still Natsume, their usual artist. He has several very different styles though, pretty darn talented guy.

There are no rare items to be found on different routes, so if there are power ups, they won't be hidden and will apply equally to all characters. More likely, though, is a fixed health bar. 2. There'll be no backtracking. The characters have been turned into bosses. You defeat a boss, it turns into a character. 3. The endings depend on how you interact with the characters at this point (or at least that's what it says). 4. This seems to imply you'll always get the characters in the same order. 5. Different characters let you take different short-cuts in a level. These appear just that: short-cuts. There doesn't seem to be any exploration. There is also no mention of different paths like in Castlevania 3 (level 1 - level 2 - level 3a - level 5 - level 6, for example). So it's a linear action game with short-cuts, which implies the individual levels themselves are pretty long.

Also noticed something you guys might wanna know:
The English version of the site isn't very clear on whether you can get items by going through different routes or using other allies and such.
First it says there are no special items to be found by going the long way around (i.e., not using short-cuts), and then it says that "allies can also provide you access to special items", showing Miriam using her sliding skill to obtain a potion.
Well, the Japanese version is quite clear: there are no rare items (i.e., the kind you keep in your inventory or permanently upgrade your stats) to be found by using short cuts. There are regular items (like MP/HP replenishment items and such) you can only obtain by using certain characters.
So, again, this looks to be a straight-forward action game with shortcuts; no backtracking.

Maybe you can, but - going by the description's suggestion that you won't miss out on any power-ups by taking short-cuts - if that's the case then it would be by some other means, rather than collecting items.

I personally doubt that there will be a physical disc for now, but I suspect that there may be a "complete edition" within a few years and I'm sure that it would include Curse of the Moon on it and in that way we could get a physical edition I know I'll be annoyed I wasn't offered the choice of a physical release for my copy if they release it sometime this summer or fall.

I just read that we will be getting different endings in Curse of the Moon. "The choices you make when encountering the other adventureres for the first time are key". Makes me believe there are 4 different endings.
The bigger group, the worse ending.
If Zangetsu, solo goes all the way without the aid of these people - it will be the true ending, which would go well with the official lore we have so far. It would make sense, but only if Zangetsu goes on his journey by himself. It would mean that Miriam, technically could have been in coma, and wake up to enbark on her journey outside of this. She haven't met Zangetsu that I know of before she got her curse, and even so, she do have the curse when she meets Zangetsu in the spin off. Its a detail I can't really add up. It is almost that the spin off would be Zangetsus version how it played out, and Miriam will be her version. But that would make less sense if Zangetsu is playable in the main game.
My brain goes into melt-mode soon. Spin off or not, I am having a real hard time seeing this game as canon.

As far as i know (specially as a diehard anime fan and fan of JRPGs and overall japanese games, culture etc), japanese developers are much more loose on what we call canon. They develop stuff and doesn't worrry too much if it is canon or not. And yes, as said before, IGA repeatedly said on interviews that his worst decision was mistakenly publicizing Castlevania's timeline because it made official and they had to work around with it (and answer why some games wasn't there). Castlevania Judgment is a good example. The game uses characters from different timelines, even from the same game (Trevor and Grant are from 3 years after Castlevania 3, while Sypha is from 3 years before Castlevania 3. Trevor even mentions that she "looks so young" since she is from before they met and got married). And has Cornell, from Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, that Castlevania canon considers it to be non-canon, implying that Judgment reunited people from different universes too. Castlevania Legends, Castlevania 64, Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon and the Lords of Shadow games are disconnected from the main Castlevania Canon. They all happen at different universes, inside the Castlevania Metaverse. So, the BEST i can come up with Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is the same: Curse of the Moon is a game from a different universe, completely disconnected from Ritual of the Night. If Bloodstained turns into a big franchise, we can start talking about a "Bloodstained Metaverse" where Ritual of the Night is inside the main universe and Curse of the Moon is from a alternative universe.

this is so amazing but let me vent about Alfred being picked over Dominique lol So, this is clearly a CV3 inspired game, quite heavily. They picked Alfred to be the Sypha expy while I think she's quite clearly a Belnades character (esp. Yoko vibes - from the church, uses magic including fire, runs a shop), and on top of that, her last name is Baldwin, which would complete the Circle of the Moon tribute here. Same acronym. arg. I hope she's DLC or something. During the stream, I was hoping Gebel's portrait was her too, but nah... I like Dominique but I against locking any character behind DLC

Has anyone got the codes for this yet? I was reading an article on Curse of the Moon and the writer said that backers should already have their codes. I know I haven't got them, I'm guessing that this is just early, but wanted to make sure that I didn't miss my codes. I assume they will be released after the 18 when you can't change your selection anymore.
