I think there is one flaw from the start, it being that these "classic Castlevania enemies" are [only] from Castlevania. Castlevania didn't invent or own the rights of these monsters. I mean, you can't really have a gothic styled game without at least one skeleton and other beings (and non-beings) of the night, right?
So I'm for including them along with all the other monsters that IGA will think of.

Classic in this case would mean things like the flying Medusa heads, which are replaced with demon star things in Bloodstained. No reason to exclude bats, skeletons, etc. The more the merrier.

Considering IGA said it himself that his focus is on the demons of the Lessor Key of Solomon...how will these "classic" enemies even fit into the theme? Don't get me wrong now..I have played Castlevania since it was in the arcade and love it..favorite title of all time. I don't really want to run into the same old one-hit kill enemies of ancient times. What I do want is to be surprised at seeing the new IP enemies in all of their fresh pixels and saying wow these guys are tough to take down unlike a horde of zombies that pose absolutely no challenge destroying unless you have no equipment on running a low level challenge. The only skeleton I really care to see is the Waxing Bone.

Definitely include simple enemies like skeletons and bats. Include all sorts of misc animals and creatures from real life and fiction. Just don't include iconic enemies like medusa heads or axe knights.

"I always make sure to use enemies and weapons from a wide variety of mythologies and cultures. Confining everything to a single mythology can really limit potential. This time I'm basing the monsters on the Lesser Key of Solomon, while still keeping the general "Gothic action" world and lore open to other inspiration." It's not limited to the Lesser Key of Solomon. Yes, it's the focus, but not limited to it.

If I remember correctly, IGA said the Lesser Key of Solomon is a big inspiration for the monsters that will appear in Bloodstained, a focus of sorts. But that's the thing, a focus, not exclusively monsters from the Ars Goetia but other things as well. I think I also remember him saying that he likes to mix several mythologies and folklore monsters so he's not too restricted on the choice of monsters. Plus you don't need any of that monster stuff to include animals like bats.
Edit: Damn it Arc stop ninjaing me! ;-; (Also it's scary how we keep saying the same things, almost using the same words too...)

Anybody know how many skeleton type enemies there were in Symphony? Like 3 or 4, with many recolored reviving skeletons that only appeared in one section of the map.

I don't think it matters how many there are in Symphony, but rather, how many (if several) there will be in Bloodstained. Well, that's what I think anyway.

Haha your sarcasm is definitely showing tonight. Or was that not a joke-have you played Symphony? I was just curious to know because I really don't know. I do own the game though. I would like to see Stolas in Bloodstained. I think Buer is almost 100% coming back too. As far as real animals go: Ravens, crows, hawks...does anyone want these birds in game?

Especially skeletons since they're like the weakest, second to zombies. As for birds, I say why not. Is there a limit to the type of enemies they can have in the game? Genuine question.

If the setting goes along (forests and whatnot) then I don't see why not. But they don't have to be normal animals, they could be crystal-infected. I'm saying this because of this artwork: Of course, it's fanmade, but the idea is essentially there and can be used.

As long as the enemies are challenging then that's what I will be entertained by the most. Castlevania & Dracula's Curse had challenging elements where you time your jumps and attacks correctly or suffer greatly. I hope the classic level in Bloodstained has that vibe. I'm sure the game will be amazing. Also, I'm hoping that team IGA take some of this community's ideas and throw them in. I guess 1 vampire won't hurt either...as long as it's not a childish one heh heh

It'll be nice to have the skeletons and bats again, but hopefully there's quite a bit more variety for them since this castle will be huge. Overall, most enemy types should hopefully have a place in the castle, and we don't start seeing things that are questionable. (Lame example: Skeletons in the library.) Not trying to discriminate against scholarly skeletons, but hopefully they at least look like they fit the theme of the region haha. I think that's what Igarashi was worrying about most.
I personally would like to see some classics again, as long as we get a good variety of everything else though. And for New Game+ I also hope that the enemies get extra tricks up their sleeves. Maybe skeletons will learn to backdash or something?

Let's see...I've got just 1 normal enemy idea for right now. I may come up with more later on. Here goes! Arahabaki (anagram of "Akihabara" / alternatively can be called "Dogū") - Based partly on the similarly-named enemy from Harmony of Dissonance, which moves like a "Schmoo" from Symphony of the Night. (Of course, this enemy's design should also include stained-glass crystals on it...despite basically being a floating ancient clay figurine.) Attack Pattern = Why not have this demon-possessed Dogu enemy teleport around Miriam, firing lasers ( Holy-Attribute) either directly at her or on the ground beneath it? (Causing flames to rise from the ground for a short time) The Arahabaki could either nullify or absorb Holy/Light damage, and be weak against the Ice and/or Wind element. Abilities that Miriam could have a chance to gain from defeating an Arahabaki? (and collecting magi-crystals that it may drop & use them in crafting) 1. A " Piercing Beam"-esque ability, or like the " Nitesco" that Nova Skeletons of past Castlevania games used. 2. A short-range teleportation ability. (Perhaps it would drop magi-crystals which you would then have to refine for this ability)

Meh don't care just make sure it has variety. I am ok with palette swaps as long as animations change. Man remembering some of the death animations of the enemy sprites in SotN stillamazesme tothis day. That attention to detail, ugh, so nice.

I like monsters with their own hierchy. For example, instead of just goblins, you will have goblin chiefs, goblin knight, goblin medic, goblin barbarian, etc. Not just to provide a number of enemies using little imagination, but to also have them come in squads or whatever later on and have the player appreciate how they act differently under different leadership and stuff.
