This is the most Ayami Kojima piece out of everything released so far and it's from the original artist. Now, the important part in this is that as you said it's a spiritual successor and spiritual successors are meant to evoke the game it's clearly influenced by. You see it with THAT GAME THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED, you see it with The Evil Within, and you see it here. I thought this piece was by Yuji Natsume, Inti Creates. Ayami Kojima only had time to make 1 piece, and that has not been revealed yet - and it will be used for the slip cover / cover case you get in higher tiers.

valtiel I don't know what you are talking about, the characters don't look desaturated of color and there's enough expression being shown to show this is a fresh new beginning while making clear the setting. Its gothic, but it's got color, adventure, a vibrant cast! That is what I see in Mana's picture, loud and clear.

As far as the game's vision and direction and what Iga wants for it, in even the most recent interview material he has said he's focusing on answering the fan demand of delivering the classic experience he's known for, and appealing to that nostalgia directly. Such as seen in the first two questions here: www.gamasutra.com/view/news/304100/QA_Bloodstained_creators_keys_to_making_a_great_Igavania_game.phpThis might come as a disappointing point for some, and I am partly with you there, but the success of this project so far has been built on the fame and legacy of Castlevania, so that's what is expected. Besides all that, I don't see Mana's style in the new art any more or less derivative of Castlevania's than Natsume's original work. They both have a vague but distinct Castlevania flavor to them enough that backers could identify with the style. Right?: images.eurogamer.net/2015/usgamer/BloodstainedSpot3.jpgI think this was the first piece of art I saw when I looked at the page, and I immediately thought "huh...that's not Ayami Kojima I don't think, but it's similar and looks great!" We also know that it's not necessarily his natural style or standard preference to draw that way. A while back, left more to his own devices, he drew this cute Miriam for their booth: ...and before all of this he was known primarily for designing Gunvolt and Mighty no. 9 characters. A supplemental point I just thought of, Mana's Bloodstained work here is very close to what she usually does anyway (it didn't strike me as more/less Kojima in how it was drawn), so that's also a plus. The roses, arrangement of characters and the castle/red sun in the background certainly said "SotN" to me, but those things are all equally identifiable to Bloodstained. The roses moreso, because of the curse. As is, I'm seeing what I feel like is a great mix of new and old, presented in a fresh way for a new game that still delivers what it promised.

Oh lol I see that CastleDan and I kind of made the same post at the same time there. haha Enkeria, what he's saying is, similar to myself, that the concept image of Miriam is the most "Ayami Kojima" style that we have seen so far. He wasn't saying she did it.

It is by him, I"m saying it's the most Ayami Kojima looking piece of all the art we have for this game. You nailed it purifyweirdshard . Although with me it was the opposite, when I saw that first art I thought it was Kojima it was the other pieces that were posted that made me think that it's a different person. We agree that it does have her style though. Mana's is very distinct but I think it has a more ( don't want to mean this in a mean way to the original artist ) mature look to her art? There's a darker quality to her style that I prefer for gothic games such as this. Whereas this original artist had a more playful look to his art, and it felt more geared to a younger audience. A good example would be it reminded me of good art we'd get from the handheld vania' games but less like the more mature and gothic look we'd get out of the major console titles. It's not so much the look of the designs as the way a person draws them....for instance I wasn't a huge fan of Gebel from the art pieces we had, but Mana's depiction in that design makes me a fan.

Simply astonishing. She's very talented, I'll love to see what this can turn into if she's more deeply involved in the art of the game.

You may not see it, but I can. Regardless, I feel it's a downgrade and yet another disappointment with this project. Edit: I better add some clarification before someone jumps on that last sentence. There have been some disappointments with this project (for me at least), such as the delay and especially how the developer switcheroo was handled. I am not disappointed with the game's progress overall however. Some stuff, such as the recent E3 build, were very impressive. I'm still 100% behind the game. Just wanted to make that clear because the way I worded that last post might cause some confusion.

I really like Mana's work, she is very talented and it fits perfectly with the target style in my opinion and I voted yes. But I don't think this poll affects much (it's october 2017 - c'mon guys). Since Mana works for Artplay and is not just there as a kickstarter goal for this very project, it would be a great idea to let her be more involved art-wise in Bloodstained projects (since it should become a franchise). But that is not in the least our decision. For example I know nothing about wage differences in that case (will it be a substantial raise or more work for same money). But hey, now they know that the community would stand behind Mana, getting more work. Let's just not blow this up too much...

i actually see it the opposite way, ayami kojimas art is more indicative of an iga game than castlevania because it was iga who approached kojima after deciding to take sotns art style away from the more boris vallejo/ravenloft art style of classicvania and seeing her artwork in manga, she didnt create a new style for castlevania, she lent her existing one to the igavanias (semantics i know, but still an important distinction ) manas piece does have references to kojimas art, that i wont argue (in fact remember this was a piece done for a comiccon, that it has references to kojimas igavania work and invokes every nostalgia boner imaginable probably isnt pure coincidence, its genius), but it also fits being part of an iga game very well, and whos to say if mana makes future marketing artwork for bloodstained it doesnt take on a life of its own with manas strengths in full force?

I think a lot of people got very confused like myself because for example in Facebook, some pages says Mana´s art is going to replace Natsume-san / DICO art, others says is just for marketing, others even says that the Mana´s art piece is already chosen as the official cover art of the game, so people come here and vote without even knowing what it´s really going on and i find that a bit unfair for all of us because we were given different information, i also read that the OP says that DICO did all what we are seeing lately, like the characters and monsters, but then the official staff says that all of that were done years ago when the KickStarter began, so... i don´t get it, are a lot of contradictions, if that´s true why even the official BloodStained page in Facebook and the official Youtube channel says before that all were new characters and designs, why if they "did" that artwork years ago they never show it until now? the information is just very different.

Yeah, good point ValtielEX. The reorganization with DICO and with 505 games being brought on recently is a complicated matter, since there are so many companies involved with disclosure agreements and so on. I'll ping Angel-Corlux so he can give us a comprehensive and easily understandable rundown about the art, that should clear some things up.

I'll be honest, The background is awesome, Gebel is awesome (probably my favorite part) all the characters on the left are awesome, BUT Miriam looks sooo wrong to me, her face looks too happy and childish, her head looks too big compared to her body, proportions looks wrong.
I'm sorry if I sound rude, but games artworks are something I really like, especially games like Castlevania and Bloodstained, so I wanted to share my opinion, no offense.

The proportion on Miriam looks fine for me. It's the perspective angle that gives impression that the head is bigger.

Yeah it's due to the perspective, as far as smiling Miriam. I dig it because we don't see it much. Although if Mana does do the box art I'm kinda hoping for a very dark moody piece for the cover. The less kiddish it feels the better. ( not that the OP art is kiddish I just mean more in the moody side ) A good example if I had to point to a direction of vania coverart -

I wish Ayami Kojima could do the arts, I know she will make an art for Bloodstained, I hope it will be the cover art.
