Ryuko Matoi's voice for Miriam ? haha.. that is crazy man, you don't know how much I love this anime!
Hmm..according to Angel, this is the start of the many information to come but I would be lying if I said I'm not underwhelmed there.

No info on Bloodless' VA? I'm also curious as to when we'll get info on the English VA (aside from Hayter and Belgrade) which I'm more interested in though I guess that probably won't be recorded for a while; they needed to set up the Japanese VA quickly to do the demos I assume. As for the VA choices, I do think they are revealing about the characters (though of course talented VAs can usually play multiple roles). Miriam's VA choice I think certainly clues us in on the type of protagonist she is likely to be and what her personality is likely to be. I also got a good chuckle about Mami Tomoe's VA being the VA for Dominique given the similarities in their likely roles and of course the similarities in their physiques ;-) I can't say I expected VA info to be the nature of this update. Hopefully we get some gameplay related info soon. I'm also curious to what happened to the "alpha" or if that was some misunderstanding on the point of us, the media, the dev team jumped the gun when they said they were putting out soon, etc.

I guess people prefer Bloodstained themed alphabets over something substantial to talk about.

It's understandable that people would still be upset about a rumor. Whether or not Mana Ikeda herself mentioned it once or twice, she didn't mention it whilst translating for IGA, and an "Alpha" release has never been officially discussed or announced to backers. If we're going to get an Alpha, we'd need word from Angel-Corlux or IGA himself first (if not anyone else at 505 or Artplay). Redogan We still don't know if they're going to show up at TGS, for one thing. That particular event might be a good time to show some gameplay. Okay look I get the argument that, "Well it was never officially stated in an update".... but to some if it's put out their in interviews by people in the team or IGA himself that is official. Angel pretty much confirmed that they are working out details on it. It's a real thing, there's no fake aspect about this unless they changed their mind on it but all the more better to mention that. Was that comment spoken about too early? Was it an accident to let it slip early? Maybe, but even then it was never requested to be taken out of either article as far as I'm aware. The point is people pay attention and they get curious. Don't blame the person who happens to see an interview from people working on the game and they choose to believe what was said. However, my issue isn't with the lack of mention on the alpha/beta/or what have you. It's that this update is clearly for a very specific audience. Not everyone knows japanese let alone japanese voice actors. The people that do are excited and sweet, I'm happy for them. Had this been an update with both the American voice actors and Japanese actors maybe some of the negative comments wouldn't be here. The build to this update is what builds the anticipation and we all thought it was coming sooner originally, so when it felt like it was pushed back the perception was an update about a variety of topics. It wasn't though. It covered one and teased a new character and basically threw out another "soon". Had that mysterious man been revealed with a blurb about his character in this update, maybe a few of those negative people might be more positive. Why? because it'd be something for a bigger audience of fans. It was a long wait for a perceived meaty update that ended up being something angled at a specific group of fans. This is not to the fault of the dev team, not to the fault of anyone working on the game. It's just the downsides of passionate fans in a kickstarter campaign. People have different things they care about, different things they want to learn more about, and they interpret things people say differently. In other words people are bound to be disappointed if they hover around the project as closely as some of us do. I think i'll probably stop posting here until something major happens, I love the people on this site, I love the people working on this game, Mana, Angel, everyone is awesome. I just know me and I get obsessive and excited about things and my hype always lets me down. I know one thing, the game won't let me down but i'll have to wait until then. Alright, I get it. It's that this update is clearly for a very specific audience, if you are not part of that specific audience then this is not an update for you, thanks for the clarification. People have different things they care about, but I am sure everyone cares about the demo/alpha.

Galamoth I don't care about the Alpha. Its the update itself that people are unhappy about. Let's not blow this out of proportion there's plenty of people happy about it too. I think my original post summed it up in as fair a way as you can get. The update IS for a specific group of people, and hey maybe that specific group is a LARGE amount of people. That's great it's just a bummer for those that it's not. Those people just like the ones that love the update were getting hyped over the prospect of the update too. That's why managing expectations is so important. You allow yourself to get too hyped and you might get a rug pulled out from under you at no fault but your own. At the same time, plenty of people are not happy about it. The fact that they have a working E3 demo but refuse to release to backer. After 3 months, they haven't say a word about alpha, no ETA given. I strongly believe when there is no ETA then there is no commitment. I think I have enough reason to worry about the state of the game and my confidence in IGA is decreasing day by day. Managing expectation is important, it goes both way. I think my expectation to get an demo which is already available or an update on the alpha is totally reasonable. On the other hand, the dev refuse to release the demo and keep quiet about the alpha for 3 months is unacceptable, they need to have a higher standard.

Don't get me wrong, this is certainly good stuff to know (hopefully the game is dual audio), and I'm glad we're getting such skilled voice actors and actresses to work on this game, but I really did think that the update would be something bigger. I thought we were going to get a solid date regarding the early access with this update, since there were rumors it was coming out last month anyways. The fact that it has been 3 months since the last substantial update only for us to get this is worrisome. Is everything going okay on the development side? Do they just not have enough done right now to show us footage of areas we've never seen before, or do they just not want to spoil any more areas until the early access releases? We got info on the Japanese voice acting, and that's good...what about the English voice acting? Is that just not finished yet? I realize that I have a clear precedent of criticizing this game a lot more than praising it, and I really don't like having that precedent. I don't want to be remembered as "that guy who only spouted negativity" on these forums. However, when we get an update like this after 3 months...I can't truthfully say I'm feeling particularly positive. Well, I for one don't think you're being too negative, Zerosbr. Remember, the whole point of this forum, and the responsibility of not just mods and admins like me and Mike, but staff members like Mana and Angel-Corlux , is to pay attention to the concerns of our members. We ultimately answer to the Army of the Night, after all. So, as long as your worries are expressed respectfully, we won't criticize you--quite the opposite. You've definitely provided us good information and considerations to help us make the next update even better, so you won't be remembered as a negative guy, you'll be remembered as someone who contributed to the success of this game! Secondly, and to be open and transparent, I share your concerns. I've chatted with Angel and my fellow staff members on Discord about how scanty this update seems to be. However, listening to their responses and taking a wider view of things, I think there is something to be said for it if you "read between the lines," so to speak. First, note that they said "we've finished recording the Japanese voices for the characters." This is a pretty significant step, from what I understand--I think things get started on the voice acting front when a significant amount of assets have been completed for the game, and if they've got voices done for all these characters, they must have made some hefty progress on not just what we've seen, but also bosses, levels, plot, and that sort of thing. So even if they haven't shown us any new footage or screenshots, this should be evidence that development is proceeding well. Now, you may ask, as folks have legitimately asked ITT already, why didn't they show off any of the new assets they're working on? Well, I think they may have a good reason for that. Hear me out. I'm not sure how many of you guys go to other anime forums like I do, but everywhere I've went (and you can see this in the Kickstarter comments page), people are FLIPPING OUT over Ami Koshimizu. She's really one of the most famous and beloved voice actresses in Japan, thanks to Macross Delta and Kill La Kill. The other VAs, like the fellow behind Jonathan Joestar (!!!!) are also very well known. To announce those folks doing the voices for Bloodstained is pretty significant, so much so that I'd wager it would overshadow anything else they put into the update. For us hardcore IGA fans, we'd pay more attention to gameplay, sure, but the rest of the world would be too busy gushing about Ms. Koshimizu to even look at any new stages, weapons, footage, etc.! So from the public relations perspective, I think an update like this makes sense--give the gaming audience as a whole something to get super excited about (Ami Koshimizu!!!!!), and then maybe another more gameplay oriented update a little later.

I'm sorry your expectations for the update were bigger than the update it's self. Look, the update took a long time and some of us thought it would be for a good reason. We have heard more news from interviews about the music team and the E3 2017 demo than we have through the KS update. I do understand completely how someone would feel a wee bit let down. Don't get too entitled though, and please respect the other fans.

"Mysterious Man" voiced by Alucard
is this for real
I feel like we're all on candid camera or something
The real prize in this update is Yasumoto as Zangetsu though, the dude has an amazingly expressive voice despite how he usually gets typecast. Part of why Raven is such an enjoyable character in Guilty Gear is to hear Yasumoto switch between soft brooding and being giddy about being ignored.

I love your response it's understanding yet tries to explain the other side of it. I respect the hell out of that. And while you weren't directing this comment at me all i was saying in regards to this update - I am in no way saying the content within this update isn't worthy of being IN an update nor was I saying like some implied that no one is happy about this update. I'm just saying it's for a particular audience, there's a LOT of fans out there that aren't japanese and don't pay attention to subbed anime's or japanese VA's. There's also fans that do, but the point is it's focused purely on that. So fans who have been waiting for this update for what seems like months and all the hype surrounding it and people throwing around the word meaty...it just felt a bit misleading. This would have been fine if they showed BOTH the Japanese voice actors and the American voice actors because at least it's not focused on one part of the audience. I wasn't expecting gameplay footage, I didn't care about the alpha although it would have been nice to find out if that's even a thing, it just would have been nice to have a well rounded update because I felt as though that was what was teased....and the push back of it's release felt like that's what was implied. Angel's IGA business card hinted at a variety of things. You can't dismiss the fact that maybe some of us thought it was hinting at the next update and it felt like it would be showing off a few different things about the game itself. Regardless, thanks for being very understanding in your post. Happy for the people that this interests but here's hoping for an update that addresses all fans sometime "soon" When that happens I'll be back to join in on the discussions it creates

From my totally different perspective: I am relatively unfamiliar with anime. Therefore, when the update appeared, I found it interesting. The voice actors are well known and respected. My initial reaction was,"Nice! IGA and Bloodstained found really good people for the game." Perhaps it was an atypical update, but variety and breadth of focus can be refreshing. I have greatly enjoyed every single one of IGA's past games. He and all of the other awesome people involved with Bloodstained are bringing a great work to life. They are working hard to create something that will give us many hours of enjoyment, and this is the news that they chose to share with us this time. I appreciate it.

Not gonna say I'm a little dissapointed in the size of the update, considering it has been almost 3 months on hiatus. Glad to hear they are important persons in the industry tho, if the english cast isn't as stacked I might play the game on japanese now.

Well, I can see how people would be disappointed by having an update about things they don't really care about, seeing as how they likely won't experience in the game to begin with. That said, I don't think there's any reason to lose faith in the project at this point. They're in the mass production crunch right now - they're super-focused putting all the elements together so that the game can enter the final phase of development, where they make adjustments, debug, refine and polish. It's probably not the best time to release information on features, seeing as how those features are still being worked on and only just starting to settle into their final form. As for the E3 demo not being available... well, that would probably require losing a good chunk of development time, time they're trying to make the absolute most of. See, developing a demo exclusively for E3 and releasing it to backers are two very different things. For one, for the E3 demo you have fixed hardware - no need to test, rewrite placeholder code so that it works with most hardware configurations. If they were to release a demo to backers, that would take up both the programmers and the game designers' time, not to mention Mana 's time going through all of the feedback in the demo - feedback given on a product that's still unfinished but too far into development to make some of the changes people may demand (and which may become moot once they play the finished product). So relax - no news is good news. It means the development team is focused on what it should be focusing on at this point. Soon enough, they'll get to the final phase of development and then the floodgates will open. Remember: most games aren't even announced until they're well into mass production and probably done with most, if not all of it. This is normal. Peace.

That line-up is a VA gold mine. I have to give props to Iga + crew for getting talent like them. This is also a smart marketing move. This update wil have the attention of the entire anime community in Japan thus leading to better sales upon release.
Shrewed move, Iga.

estebant , my main mac man. It pains me that you didn't consider the other update for the Bloodstained Community Broadcast. An interview directly with the game's publisher? How can we overlook this so easily. Only silence for months at a time? This is the place to be! We share any article from anywhere in the world. You have a direct connection to the official staff here. YOUR'RE TEARING ME APART LISA!
