With IGA and company deeper into the development process than ever there had been less time to devote to carving out new pieces of the game for backer updates, but the drought is over—there's still tons of Bloodstained to discover before it comes out. (And then even more to not discover until after it comes out, and you lock yourself in a spoiler-free room for a couple of days to finish it.) For that matter, your between-updates options have never been better: If you haven't been visiting the Bloodstained Forums and the Bloodstained Discord, you're missing direct access to 505 Games' own Angel-Corlux. (A couple of us from the Kickstarter team at Fangamer finally got to meet him [and Mana] at PAX West this year, and I can confirm that he is somehow even more enthusiastic about Bloodstained in person.) Are you kidding me? Maybe they forgot we don't speak Japanese. 3 months without an update for this? Technically, the last update was just last month, but as for [non-Japanese] voice-acting, I wouldn't worry about it too much. In this update, they also hinted at more information coming soon about the "Mysterious Man" (besides just his voice-actor, of course). I strongly suspect that the Mysterious Man's English voice-actor is none other than Robbie Belgrade. |

I think it's the downside of being a regular on a website and constantly hyping yourself up for something. Some people are good at managing hype. Some are bound to be disappointed. We all have different expectations for things. Just like you were pumped with this information estebant is confused with it. I know I should probably visit the forums less because I always hype myself up too much. its better to be on the outside and be surprised by info that does excite me than linger and talk here and build up anticipation to be let down by my own hype. |

It's not because I'm let down by my own hype it's because there's been talk about an alpha for quite some time and teased that it's coming soooon....and now when we finally get an update...not a single word about it.

Proceeds to show us voice actors that we won't be hearing in our first play through because we don't speak Japanese.
Was it too much for them to add 3 second snippets of dialogue so we can at least hear what they sound like? To give us something to talk about? Or are we just supposed to talk about that amorphous silhouette for the next few months?
So what if Alucards japanese voice actor is in the game? We've known Robbie Belgrade was going to do voice acting since the first few weeks of the kickstarter.
See you guys next month. Or in three, depends on whenever they feel like updating again.

Really? That was the entirety of the update? I am disappoint.
The back and forth with Angel-Corlux made it seem like blow-you-out-of-the-water stuff was coming. Japanese voice acting is cool and all--if you speak Japanese and will be playing it in said language. Otherwise, it's just a side note. And I know that more stuff is supposed to be coming "soon;" however, soon could mean another three months.
I don't like to be all negative about stuff because I love this project. Sorry. I don't know what else to say. Fair warning! Incoming rant: <rant>
I guess I was hoping for some gameplay snippets, screenshots, backgrounds, or music samples. Or at least some information about beta testing. Or alpha testing. Instead we got some information about actors/actresses that were hired and not a single piece of information about the game itself outside of a "Mysterious Man" character who will apparently have in-game dialogue. Sheesh. I've really got to stop getting my hopes up for these things.

Don't get me wrong, this is certainly good stuff to know (hopefully the game is dual audio), and I'm glad we're getting such skilled voice actors and actresses to work on this game, but I really did think that the update would be something bigger. I thought we were going to get a solid date regarding the early access with this update, since there were rumors it was coming out last month anyways.
The fact that it has been 3 months since the last substantial update only for us to get this is worrisome. Is everything going okay on the development side? Do they just not have enough done right now to show us footage of areas we've never seen before, or do they just not want to spoil any more areas until the early access releases? We got info on the Japanese voice acting, and that's good...what about the English voice acting? Is that just not finished yet?
I realize that I have a clear precedent of criticizing this game a lot more than praising it, and I really don't like having that precedent. I don't want to be remembered as "that guy who only spouted negativity" on these forums. However, when we get an update like this after 3 months...I can't truthfully say I'm feeling particularly positive.

ZeroSbr Everything seems more intensive on the development side, judging from the first two sentences of this current update. I wouldn't put any faith in rumors at all, personally. Not until the actual developers confirm or say something about it that doesn't debunk them.

Well... Can't say that I particularily care about the japanese voices myself - would've been a cool update if they had shown us little voice sequences of each character (nothing story-heavy, just to get to know what characters will sound like). Now we don't really know much more than before the update except that everything kind of points towards Robbie Belgrade acting for a yet unrevealed character (since the Japanese voice actor is apparently the Japanese voice actor for Alucard).
Also interesting to me was that Gremory is listed among the other members of the cast - will she have a proper role in the plot? That'd be cool!
I hope that the next wait will be shorter again and with less "hype for nothing".

Yeah, I keep saying it, but that early access/beta stuff was not announced/promised/confirmed outside of being mentioned as a tentative plan or thought in 2 interviews out of dozens around the time of E3. They wanted to do that and that's about the gist of it.
A lot of us play games primarily in Japanese. I usually do these days because the majority of time English dubbing doesn't sit right for me along with JP assets. I have always had English acting for Castlevania games (when there was acting), so it might be good to hear it in my own language for Bloodstained, but I'm more hyped and interested by the Japanese talent than the English. Those actors will develop and bring out the personality of the characters in their natively developed form, and will be able to work more closely with IGA and the other native speakers to achieve that. The English teams will more or less adapt to what the originals did, like usual.
It's big news, and the team looks really good. Gremori having an actress pointed out this way is interesting news to me, too, which makes me wonder even further now if the character is the new Death (just as I pointed out with the "crescent moon knives" she attacks with that was mentioned in an earlier update).

Not everyone knows japanese let alone japanese voice actors. The people that do are excited and sweet, I'm happy for them. Had this been an update with both the American voice actors and Japanese actors maybe some of the negative comments wouldn't be here. The build to this update is what builds the anticipation and we all thought it was coming sooner originally, so when it felt like it was pushed back the perception was an update about a variety of topics. It wasn't though. It covered one and teased a new character and basically threw out another "soon". Had that mysterious man been revealed with a blurb about his character in this update, maybe a few of those negative people might be more positive. Why? because it'd be something for a bigger audience of fans. It was a long wait for a perceived meaty update that ended up being something angled at a specific group of fans. This is not to the fault of the dev team, not to the fault of anyone working on the game. It's just the downsides of passionate fans in a kickstarter campaign. People have different things they care about, different things they want to learn more about, and they interpret things people say differently. In other words people are bound to be disappointed if they hover around the project as closely as some of us do. I think i'll probably stop posting here until something major happens, I love the people on this site, I love the people working on this game, Mana, Angel, everyone is awesome. I just know me and I get obsessive and excited about things and my hype always lets me down. I know one thing, the game won't let me down but i'll have to wait until then. |

im happy, this is awesome news cause it means i get to watch some anime and get a feel for the voices, im gonna be torn between jp audio and hayter/belgrade, hoping for a second update with the english cast soon with some more info on alpha/gameplay maybe

I even watch US stuff with subs/CC on whenever possible because I don't want to miss anything. Might be a habit from Metal Gear Solid or something.
