The "Update #46 (November): Get To Know The Developers" is a bit underwhelming.
I personally am 100% OK with it because I'm already more than happy that this game is happening at all. =)
But I can understand why people maybe a bit upset about the latest update. Even though this is the best gamer community ever (imo).
Here's a fun point:
- When Iga announced back in September 2016 that he need to delay the release to first half of 2018. The backers were hardly upset at all. Instead they gave him incredible support.
- But with "Update #46 (November): Get To Know The Developers", backers are (a bit) upset.
In normal gaming community, the delay announcement would more likely cause backlashes than "get to know the developers".
I'm running a 2-sided marketplace website where I need to maintain good relationship both with the sellers and buyers. The important point is that people do not get mad at you when you run into problems (as long as you told them openly that you're having problems and also tell them what kind of problems). They however do not like being left in the dark.
Back on topic of this poll: I noticed that the 'Fan Art Spotlight' is present in each and every update. So it might be a good idea to include something that...
- The backers would be happy to see every month. - Is not difficult / don't take much time for the dev team to prepare and include in the updates - Won't spoil the game
Another fun point: Just imagine "Update #46 (November): Get To Know The Developers" but with just one single screenshot that we've never seen before. It'd be another atmosphere altogether. We'd be talking, making new topics and speculating the hell out of that screenshot. If the game is released on June 2018, then the dev only have to prepare 18 screenshots total (1 screenshot per month).

Voted for the Q&A, perhaps it build answers, and the shape of the game towards ideas brought upon them with questions.
And if not Q&A perhaps information brought on by the community. By talking about changes and what to expect without going into much details. This is how development updates come to us that plays for example Overwatch. A very great way to interact and to build up speculations and theories, ideas and to actually know something is going on.

Good topic, Kitti! I was just thinking about this subject. I agree, I noticed a lil disappointment about the previous update but for the most part people are understanding around here. I bet December's update is gonna be great, I have faith in IGA and our team members But I think having a never before seen screenie on even a small update would be a great idea for keeping up the hype on the forum. Speculation and hunting for little details in little hints is pretty fun, after all!

I voted for Q&A, mostly because I feel like I wont get to spoiled from that. I also understand that having a Q&A every update is kinda pointless due to the fact that when IGA goes to an event and gets interviewed we get the new info from there as well. It still would be nice to have everything in an update, but I shouldn't get to greedy and ruin to much for myself in spoilers.

While being true, I believe fans are in most cases better to actually bring good questions. It is very rare that "random" interviewers really invest much time into whoever they are about to talk to. For example, have people asked about the engine? The different tiers? The soundtrack? Or given a question which would be a reaponse: "Never though of that, that is indeed a very good question". I think we can make a change (for the better). If we speak out, keep it constructive and ask questions with thought, a Q&A can go very far in terms of being satisfied. Sorry for spelling. Every update should include a new episode of Iga's food adventure. The pilot for the show was killer and I really want to see him try new and mysterious food after the iconic mac and cheese made its appearance.
Oh and every update being a bit more decorated wouldn't hurt. Throw a scribble or a super deformed/chibi character in there to lighten up everyone's mood as they go through the update.

There is so much we still don't know about the game that I think there is a lot of material they could put into updates that would go a long way towards informing the backer base and keeping them content: -Concept Art and Game Assets: Weapon designs, Monster designs, Character designs, Location designs. They have so many options here and they could still leave plenty of stuff hidden for the final game. It also offers opportunities for voting if the devs want to involve the backers or legit can't choose between two+ options for something in particular. -New Screenshots: I don't think you need many but a few new screenshots per update, especially of parts of the castle we hadn't seen yet, could generate a lot of conversation. -Short Gameplay Videos: I think all the ones shown off, even the ones with blank backgrounds, have been appreciated as long as they showed off something/anything new. -Gameplay Info: There are a lot of gameplay systems we are still in the dark about. Just going by things were already know due to the demo, maybe more info on the shard system could be shared? We still have no idea what a few of them do. -Characters and Narrative Insight: I feel there is a lot you could talk about here without spoiling much of significance. Presently, the world of the game feels pretty small. We started the campaign learning about 3 characters and then a month or so after the campaign we were introduced to Zangetsu. Over a year later and we've learned of nobody else. No way this game only has 4 named characters of significance. I doubt there are tons more of the left to reveal but I'd like to see a few more of them already Obviously you wouldn't see all of the above each update but those are the types of things I'd like to see across the updates and I think that the most recent update lacked all of those is why many felt kind of "meh" about it. I'd also be in support of Q&A sessions though I figure those would take more time to produce/record and have diminishing results if the above aren't happening too?

I don't know, Jeff...the extra playable characters were always surprises in the IGA games before, so I would be fine with not knowing until the game is out personally ;p
It's too bad I couldn't vote for multiple things here. I went with the screenshot option (i.e. selective content, not too much, better than nothing >_>), but also the forum question thing would be good every now and then. Perhaps alternate one and the other.

Perhaps alternate one and the other. not looking for the"extra" playable character just looking for the playable characters in the KS campaign, they promised three playable characters... one is Miriam... people assume Johannes is the second and the third, many people say is Zangetsu... but he has never actually confirmed any of that. I just want confirmation, is all... I do like the forum question thing too though...

Well, Richter/sisters/Albus mode might be exactly how the 2nd/3rd playable characters are selectable though, as a bonus after the game's completion. That's what I meant by an "extra", because they are more or less still extra characters. We have no reason to believe that these other two will be used like CV3 characters, Jonathan/Charlotte or...well...I guess those are the only examples. If it was a hot swap two character game like PoR, I think we would have well known that by now.

Yeah I see what your saying Pure, but wouldn't it be interesting if there were character specific bosses... or places only a certain character can enter... or I might be wrong and the other characters are just available for multiplayer mode. Also, I think Gebel will be the "extra" character (among others... not yet know to us)

You get a look into what things will look like without getting spoiled by seeing the real deal. They produce so much art that it seems like the best way to keep people happy without sharing too much actual content.

Even though one wins, you still have the other 2 more higher requests. A combination out of those three "most" requested would be the best solution. Even though I enjoy Q&A, I understand the effort in making those videos.
If a concept art is shown, it could be a part of an area update, a monster update. Perhaps even focus on just one enemy, giving us lore and a "from concept to game results". Pictures and blog so to speak.
Other thing to reflect upon is that all these should really be part of the updates no matter how you see it, if you want to satisfy the fans. The top most voted requests are those I would put more effort to, but not exclusivly.
Edit: Different updates makes it better. Keeps the flow going.

I will be honest that this early December update will revolve mostly around what I explained on the forums about the procedural generation. I think the progress needs more clarity for all backers and those who don't read the forums as often. We'll also have a new content to share in December so stay tune! I'll be gathering questions for Q&A very soon.
