I'm all for this as long as it's optional and it's implemented after the core game is finished. Well yeah naturally it would be optional AI controlled unless controller 2 is enabled.

I, Galamoth, could help Miriam with that. Maybe even make her immune to enemies' attacks that could stop time.
That...or something similar to me could just be a Boss, and give her a Time-related ability upon defeat.

what if they make a set of Familiars that are akin to the sub weapons in the old castlevania.
like:
Dagger: Shadow - it should look like a small ninja. Axe: A ghost, inhabiting an armor's arm (yes only the arm) the full ghost will fade in and out from time to time. Cross: is doesn't need to be a cross maybe a boomerang welding... monster? (sorry didn't think this one all the way through... I can only think boomerang welding skeleton lol) Holy water: again it doesn't need to be holy water, it could be just a hooded demon with a lantern to throw Pocket Watch: Creature that could stop time for an instant (the stronger it gets the longer the time)... Maybe a top hat that follows you and when it uses it's power it hops out and attacks things Bible: it doesn't need to be a bible... maybe a wind demon that spins around you quickly. Rebound Stone: this one is easy... a crystal being that shoots out ricocheting crystals Agunea: again another easy one... a lightning demon Vibhuti's Ashes: This could be a simple demon (or angel) that throws purifying salt
so what do you guys think?

To me, basically a familiar is a servant bound to you by either magic, or some sort of contract. Who would willingly give their entire life to someone unless it's love or slavery? And I doubt that a floating suit of armor can feel love. I am looking at you Iron Man!Well that is just not true, I clearly remember that Iron Man had a strong love towards alcohol!

Too close to the original series. If such types would be implemented it'd be better to make them carry new features, such as:
Rock Golem: Forms a shield in front of you, with size and damage absorption increasing with leveling. Ice Spirit: Appears before you, vibrates for half a second and explodes in a forward direction, reassembles afterwards. Basically an ice shotgun, with the reassembly sequence being the gun loading. Leveling improves shard count, size, vibration length and reload time. Thunder Demon: Stays at close range and gives off an electric aura. Range and damage increase massively in water, electrifies water surfaces (such as puddles). Multihit and range are the factors that improve. Glass Portrait: Appears behind an enemy and envelops them in stained glass, basically fancy petrification. Speed of encasing the enemy and the size of the enemy that can be affected by this develops with level.
I do think, however, that these kinds of familiars would be better as magic skills.

Nice familiars XD but I don't think familiars should be magic skills imo, they should equippable relics... much like SotN. I didn't like the way Soma's familiars were... they were like spell (kinda') and the familiars I came up with, were supposed to be a nod to the original (so of course they are like the original game)... but the player won't have full control of these "sub-weapon" familiars. oh and on a side note how about this familiar? Naked Eyeball: this eyeball is just an eye that floats around the player and highlights breakable walls or secrets... the draw back is it will highlight any breakable item... if there is a place with too many breakable items the familiar will get dizzy lol

I'd personally also like to see a possessed as a Familiar...a "Poltergeist", if you will. The floating possessed wine-glass could give passive buffs to some of Miriam's stats, in addition to providing support-attacks with silly animations. (Including, but not limited to, burning enemies with wine). Maybe this Familiar itself could throw different alchoholic beverages at enemies too...like the Skeleton Bartender in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. "This one's for you!"

A familiar or familiar ability that helps with acquiring gold/hearts (or rather whatever the Bloodstained parallels are) or one that influences luck and item/crystal drops would probably be super helpful, especially for those trying to go for 100%+ completion runs of the game or trying to collect all the items/weapons/etc..
