From what I've gathered, the two suggested options for obtaining familiars would be to either find them (via (random) monster drops I assume) or crafting them? Then I'd like to suggest the following: how about having to find them somewhere, in a room or after a special event, but not having them join you unless you accomplish some tasks for them, having to increase your bond and trust with the familiar in order for them to have a contract with you? That would make it more rewarding, and maybe would be better than "I'm a mindless spirit following you around." I was under the impression there was only one familiar, the knight. Isn't that what they said during the KS ending stream, or am I imagining things? Concerning the ending stream, yes, you didn't imagine things. However, here's a quote from Ben in the KS' comments: "I think Iga really liked the fairy... He might be able to be convinced to have her in the game. You are a backer so your opinion does matter." So there might be a way to have a fairy along with the knight, and why not, maybe more familiars? Familiars! Created magically, purified from enemy crystals, ready to help Miriam on her journey through the castle. Several types will exist in the final game, each of which will have a different ability.People, please, read the updates.

Hope he´ll brings them all.. Sure the Knight Familiar was chosen by Iga, but it would be a shame to let these Natsume Masterpieces going to waste.. Especially that damn cute Fairy with the flower wings^^

Where was this written? Crap I missed so much case I backed so late I wish I could but I have no idea how to get in contact with them lol except for Ben Judd but he rarely answers me... I wish they read our post XD Me too I wish there are going to be a bunch of familiars XD. I wonder how many types there will be... Arcueid Brunestud said something like (not exactly what was said lol): - fairy type for healing,
- ghost type dealing status ailments
- knight type for pure damage.
But I think there should be more types like helper types: - maybe one that could stop time for a bit,
- one that opens portal like holes for you,
- one that makes enemies dance (one of those WTF powers lol)
- one that turns enemies into something else like gold crystals or other enemies (like you can load an enemy card in the familiar and every time you use its power it turns it into that
- enemy.. if there is no card loaded it just turns them into the weakest enemy)
I don't like the word "enslave" I want it to be more like these demons don't want to be there anyway so they are easy to turn to your side:) Various books on the occult. A few Goetics are said to be good natured and faithful, and some "desire to return to Heaven". Interesting stuff. You are correct sir. I read up on the demons online after they were announced to be the basis for the game. Some of them I had heard about before and researched for writing an apocalyptic story.

Yeah the impression I got from the final stream is that IGA, personally, really wanted the Fairy but it's kind of hard when you have overwhelming evidence that the people financing your project have different preferences. That the Fairy came in second means it would probably be easy for IGA et al to spin it like "well a lot of people wanted this too so we were able to find a way to make it work" Fairy & Sword were the best SOTN familiars so it works for me either way - it was just that the Knight was way too cool to not be my, and most people's, first choice. I also got the sense that some people felt Miriam & Fairy was "cute overload" and thus were more interested in pairing her with the Knight Familiar. BTW, am I the only one who kind of got Cream vibes from the Knight Familiar? (When I say "Cream" I'm referring to Vanilla Ice's Stand from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part III)

I think if we are going to make some familiars they should be unique. I say equipable weapons and armor to change them into different types of the same familiar... and the player can choose how their familiar will act. That sounds good. Kind of like Pokemon, as you level you tailor it to your needs so no two Mewtwos are the same.

ok got another idea about a familiar... what about a familiar that brakes the fourth wall? of course that one familiar will be the only one that is part of the joke... anyone it interacts with will not understand the joke or just think it is part of its silliness

All they need to do in my opinion is have them like they were in SoTN, such as finding them. Perhaps you'd need certain stats in order to use a particular familiar, I could see that being implemented. And the higher the stats that pertain to that familiar, the more effective it becomes.. And maybe it could even learn new abilities depending on it.

Yes, it could be a second option for co op, but then familiars would need to have more combos and combined powers like in PoR, maybe even special equipment
