I haven't been playing any REAL games for many years now. Basically since the mobile gaming took over the market.(around the time Angry Birds was out)
But after I found out about ROTN, I start digging up good games that I haven't played yet.
I don't know about you guys here but for me it's like : "Gaming is back!".
I'm going through Order of Ecclesia right now. It's the one I haven't finished yet. Man, this game is difficult! (Or am I getting too old? -*-)
After this maybe I'll finish all the Igavanias that I have not finished yet, which are: - Circle of the moon - harmony of dissonance
I also stumbled upon an RPG series which I've never played any of them. That is : Legend of Heroes. This seems to be a story-heavy games that will make my wait for ROTN less painful. =)
What are you guys playing / plan to play now?

I cannot say what kind of games I'll be playing because... there's so many games to play for me... well... I guess I do play TF2 quite frequently and I should get into The Witcher games (1 & 2, then 3). Maybe finish up Thief and the sequel. I also should go visit Shovel Knight again once it got some extra content added. There's also Freedom Planet with additional content that'll become available near the end of the year. I think I'm more than good enough to play all other games as I wait for RoTN...
... oh and Mighty no.9, been waiting to play that game for almost 2 years, woot!

I've never finished the Witcher 2, so I think I'll pick up my Witcher 1 import save and work on that.
I also need to finish Dawn of Sorrow Julius mode, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. I tend not to play the same game until completion. I play for a while, take a break, play something different, then go back to the same game. And I juggle a few different games like that.

Currently Playing: Shovel Knight
In Que: (and not necessarily in this order) Rogue Legacy Dungeon Of The Endless Axiom Verge Dust (again but on PC vs. XB360) Portal Portal 2 Deus Ex Deus Ex: Human Revolution Deus Ex: Invisible War Deus Ex: The Fall Shadowrun Returns & Dragonfall Project Zomboid CV: Dracula X Chronicles (Need to finish it) Which leads to... CV: SotN (Again. It's been TOO long.) CV: CoD (XB360)
Games I still need to get: All the DS Castlevania titles. All the PS Castlevania titles. ( I have Lament but I've never finished it) And I do want to Get LoS, LoS 2, and Mirror of Fate just so I say that I gave them a chance. Still debating on Mighty No. 9 Still debating on Guacamellee.
Other than that I'm just keeping my eyes open.

There have been pretty good games out there, I don't know what you mean that the mobile scene has taken over the game industry, sure some companies now dedicate to mobile gaming *cough konami *cough, but there has been good games throughout this past years.
I don't know what year angry birds came out, but I can tell you what good games have come out since last year, to mention some we have, smash bros, hyrule warriors, ToZ a link between worlds, bloodborne, Shadows of Mordor, Bayonetta, PT (even if it was a teaser it was awsome to play), Shovel Knight, Mario Kart 8 and the list can go on and on.
This are only from last year and the ones I think people will agree with me, I have many other that I really enjoyed. I think you just got disappointed with the rise on mobile game market but the console game industry is still pretty alive.

Arkham Knight (Huge fan of the Batman comics), Morrowind, Metal Gear Solid 5, and Bloodborne (Heard there was going to be DLC for it sometime in the future)!
I also plan on finishing up some of the older CV games that I hadn't tried out yet.
Other than that, just focusing on my studies and comics.

Other than that I'm just keeping my eyes open. - Guacamelee is a pretty good game and has lots of fun references to other game series, though I do recommend playing it with a controller. I first played it on the PC using mouse/keyboard controls and man it got painful (hand cramps) after a while - of the LoS games the first one was imo alright (not bad, but not great) , haven't played the second one (but I do plan to buy & play it eventually), and Mirror of Fate.....well I really enjoyed the first 2/3rds of the game, but by the time I got to the last third it imo really started to lose steam also collecting all the in-game collectables was definitely not worth all the trouble (all you get is a d@mn 5 -10 second "bonus" cinematic tacked onto the end of the credits) you had to go through to get it.

There are some nice titles in here. I wish I could play many of those, but I don't have any current gen systems and my laptop isn't the best for gaming...
For now, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, a replay of SotN, Dex (once it gets more updates),Terraria, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong when it comes out.

I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles. However after I complete that game I plan on moving on to The Witcher 3 and relax a bit with Splatoon. I do plan on trying to finally complete Shantae Risky's Revenge and Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls.
I have a lot to play, not to mention I still plan on getting more games very soon.

I'll just reply to the OP before reading the rest of the thread because I have strong opinions on this alone, and the quote mechanics of these boards still look like they are being fleshed out, so I don't want to lead myself to any potential multiquotes or whatever. First off, you mention how 'gaming is back', you say that this is what it feels like for you, rather than being a simple fact or whatever, this is good, and I'm aware of it, so don't think I'm trying to argue that point directly. However your feeling is in fact what far too many 'gamers' claim these days in my experience. All too often I see misguided gamers claim things like we are in the dark ages of gaming, that gaming needs a 2nd crash, yada yada blah blah. Frankly, while I can respect you and anyone else who feels like they haven't had anything to enjoy in the gaming department as of late, I have nothing but bullocks to say to the people who feel that this is in fact a market phenomenon. Gaming is in fact practically having a golden age right now IMO. However many people fail to recognize it as such because they are too heavily influenced by media and advertising. In other words, they seldom look past the AAA titles, and the select few indie games that have some kind of media connection, or for the very odd lucky indie game that managed to get the attention of someone like totalbiscuit. Since the dawn of time gaming has in fact had Shovelware, and it just so turns out that today's shovelware is often the ones with the most media attention. So people who are lazy in researching games that suit their personal tastes are often led to believe that the entire gaming industry is somehow stuck in a bad place. When in fact we now have more access to a larger variety of games than ever before. I personally have been a fan of JRPGS (I personally hate referring to RPGS as JRPGS and WRPGs btw, but I use it just to communicate a point atm) since final fantasy 1, and let me tell you, all the way up to the playstation 1, the wait time between RPG games was nuts. There was no selection to choose from, there was final fantasy and dragon warrior and that's pretty much it...until phantasy star. Point is selection was REALLY low, nowdays, there are probably 10X more JRPG games released each year than there were before, and JRPG isn't the only genre with such a huge variety to select from. Granted, many games nowdays are bad, but many are good too, and I frankly don't think it's that hard to tell which to get. Don't just look at reviews and buy them based on score, look at reviews, and look at the pros and cons, at the comments, etc. If you like hard games and the reviewer is complaining the game is too hard, then that's a good thing than a bad. If you like super moe cute dating sim style games and the reviewer is complaining how creepy it is that fictonal girls are sexy, than that's a good thing. If you dislike liscenced music and the reviewer is praising that they hired some popular hiphop band for the music, than that's a bad thing, score means squat. And for the love of god, don't dismiss the doujin gaming market. The indie gaming market has suddenly spiked with attention thanks to steam and such, but doujin games are still all too often ignored unless a localization company puts it on steam too. However Doujin games (Japanese for indie pretty much) are IMO often better than their indie counterparts, and I'm not some weeaboo. I don't care about anime or manga, and I don't know japanese, I just know I love games, and I widened my horizons to the Japanese indie market, and my god am I glad I did. As for OoE, I didn't think the game was THAT hard but I have nothing but respect for people who can enjoy something even if they find it difficult. It's a weak character that only enjoys what they have an easy time with IMO. I personally love bowling, but struggle to get even 100 points. I'm god-awful at it! =P Now Legend of heroes.. That's a big series, and if you can read Japanese, that's a great place to start. I can't read Japanese so I'm unfortunately left with little avenues in this series. I've only played Trails in the sky, but good god is the story good. I say this as a person who often doesn't play RPG games for stories.. Visual novels and actual novels are just superior at providing a good story IMO. But I can see that Trails in the sky/kiseki is simply a league beyond RPG games that are often praised for their stories such as chrono trigger. There is the gagrav series or whatever it's called but I've heard bad things about its localization so I'll hold off for now, I'll try it if my gaming backlog is ever empty or close to it but I don't think that'll happen. But that being said, if you mean the Kiseki series (trails and the sky FC and everything afterwards), be warned that the ending is a pretty torturous cliffhanger...and not your typical oh noes everyone is going to die unless some miracle happens, whatever will happen? No, it's a cliffhanger that does NOT leave you knowing that things will work out in the next scene because the heroes can't die or anything, for that reason, it's one of the most torturous cliffhangers I've seen... I wish SC would hurry up and release ='( Anyway, I play a huge variety of games, I like nearly every genre (except fighting games, though I do like melee action games like ninja gaiden, devil may cry, etc.. I just don't like street fighter/mortal combat/dead or alive/etc style fighting games. I also enjoy every platform, console, pc, portable. I also don't play to get a platinum on every game, or to 100% it or anything. I generally play it for maximum fun, and if I start losing some interest, I'll put it off until later, so I really do try too darn many games in such a short period of time to list. But for this particular moment, I'm currently playing Creeper world 3, Devil of Decline, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Tales of Xillia 2, and intend to boot up Etrian mystery dungeon as soon as amazon delivers it to me. I'm sure there are a gajillion more I'll play or be interested in playing before this game's release but ones I am aware that I hope to try before such for sure are: Halycon 6 (another kickstarter game that was funded a few months before BS) Trails in the sky SC (dear god I HOPE it gets released before BS!) Galactic civilizations 3 (waiting for a price drop) GTA5 PC (again, price drop please, I never played teh console versions yet, been waiting for pc but I'm not gonna pay full $60 price for a digital copy of a game that is like 2 years old, gg) Etrian odyssey 5 (I think I recall someone saying it was under development) Dungeon travellers 2 I know there's more, but nobody is probably even rading anymore. blah. I'm sure there are a gajillion more I'll play or be interested in playing before this game's release but ones I am aware that I hope to try before such for sure are: Halycon 6 (another kickstarter game that was funded a few months before BS) Trails in the sky SC (dear god I HOPE it gets released before BS!) Galactic civilizations 3 (waiting for a price drop) GTA5 PC (again, price drop please, I never played teh console versions yet, been waiting for pc but I'm not gonna pay full $60 price for a digital copy of a game that is like 2 years old, gg) Etrian odyssey 5 (I think I recall someone saying it was under development) Dungeon travellers 2 I know there's more, but nobody is probably even rading anymore. blah. Finished playing that a month ago. WAS SO BLOOMING ANGRY about the ending of the first chapter. That has not happened in a very long time.

Yeah, I say with absolutely no hyperbole or exageration or sarcasm... most maddening cliffhanger ever...it's a masterpiece.

I just replayed most of the game recently cuz I thought they would announce SC pretty soon since they had the gall to announce trails of cold steel recently, why would they do that if not SC as well? cruel @#%@#%ers =P.
Anyway I stopped just after the final boss, I'm going to wait until I get a date for SC before I proceed.
