IGA has said in a interview that his current idea is that there will be five different kinds of drops, corresponding to different parts of an enemy, the heads, arms, and so on, and that even single monsters will have multiple drops. It's the latter thing that I like to hear. Well, the simple fact that there's a wider variety of armor slots should promote better itemization than we've seen before, so I can be cautiously optimistic. For instance, Amy is nothing more than a Head, so, it is probably that it only drops one thing (Head slot) and a shard. Dullahammer has arms, legs, body, shard, but has no Head. So, he maybe drops four itens. I rather hope it's a little more arbitrary than that. After all, the best weapon (arguably) in SotN was the rare drop from a sort of grotesque version of a ghost from Pac-Man. I always thought that was wonderfully random. IGA also said that the general drop chance will be higher than most of his other games, because drop materials to forge and shards are a essential part of the gamplay and, as such, they can't be that hard to get. Here I'm hoping he specifically means the materials. I seem to recall that the solution to material rarity in Curse of Darkness was to require many specimens of common materials to ultimately produce something worthwhile. I see no good reason to make items drop just as commonly. IGA also said that they wanted shards to be usable only after "maturing then", evolving then on some sort with alchemy. But we didn't see that on the demo, so maybe they gave up on that idea (He Said that the team wasn't happy with this, because it would be frustrating to get a power and not able to use it at the same time) or maybe they are re-working it. Perhaps the more demanding gameplay ideas can be salvaged and made part of the nightmare difficulty.

IGA probably referenced the 10h a while back as an average estimate of his previous games. That may have even been before this particular stretch goal was met, perhaps? Can't recall the source of the quote. Regardless, we should be looking at quite a bit of game. I wouldn't want to extend it much more, rather instead keep a potential series going. Years ago, when IGA left Konami and was talking about how to develop a game at a conference, he said that he estimate the overall dificulty of bosses by making the play test fight against a boss at a overral "normal" condition at that time of the game. The boss is considered good enough if the professional play tester can beat the boss without taking damage. I think when he said that 10h time frame, he is basing that on play testers. People capable of beating bosses without taking a single hit and that can beat the game fast and with a skilled gamplay. You can sure multiply that timeframe but 3 if you are talking about a "normal first time" player. Has there been any mention of MORE gear than previous Igavania games? ( more weapons to collect, more armor, more scarfs) If they're going for a bigger castle, you'd assume there'd be more to find right? IGA said on a interview that this game will be less equipment-dependant than Symphony of the Night. But even so, i think the number of equips will be higher, due to my answer below. My ultimate worry here is that enemies will end up with basically just a shard and a single item. I want all enemies to have a common and rare drop at least, in addition to a shard if they have one. I'd also prefer it if their alchemy drops (regardless of how rare) were kept separate from their item drops, meaning if they have an alchemy drop, it doesn't take the spot of their common/rare drop.
IGA has said in a interview that his current idea is that there will be five different kinds of drops, corresponding to different parts of an enemy, the heads, arms, and so on, and that even single monsters will have multiple drops. So, each monster would have at max five drops (probably head, arms, legs, body and shard), but not all of then will have all five. He never explained that idea very well, so, we don't know if each slot will have a drop corresponding to that (like arms dropping weapons), it is probably not. Some people (like me) assume he was talking about a general terms for drops. For instance, Amy is nothing more than a Head, so, it is probably that it only drops one thing (Head slot) and a shard. Dullahammer has arms, legs, body, shard, but has no Head. So, he maybe drops four itens. ManaIs the above still part of the plan? ( the body part drops from demons?) I remember that interview as well but it was pretty old.

Pure Miriam, thanks for bringing up that bit about different enemy parts/crafting drops. I was planning on mentioning that in my next reply, but I was going to have to search around for that particular interview to make sure I was getting the details right. I think you pretty much have it there.

OOOHHHH you're making me even more excited for this game, Pure Miriam . Why you gotta intensify my butterflies like dat? Haha :D Well, i basically read almost all interviews and such that IGA gives since early 2000's. I wasn't going to stop now. But yes, IGA said that. And he said even more. Another idea IGA has mentioned is for the drops to give different stat subeffects: for example, an enemy head drop will raise magic power, or a drop from an enemy leg/foot will raise movement speed. By using the different drop materials and the different stat subeffects, the player will be able to customize Miriam to his or her liking. He also didn't explain it how that would work, but we can guess it is some sort of small buff applied to a drop that you can equip it? Or maybe it is a buff that passes on to the crafted equipment with that material (like, bronze gives CON + 2, so, anything forged with it, will also give CON + 2). He also said that some drops will be usable on quests. So, the game will have a quest system. Wow. That's really unique even for IGA. I hope he does find some way to implement this. It would also give Bloodstained a competitive scene, too, given a vs mode is created for the game. :p

He never explained that idea very well, so, we don't know if each slot will have a drop corresponding to that (like arms dropping weapons), it is probably not. If there's going to be a Second Castle, I'd actually expect it to be relegated to DLC later on. I fully expected "IGA's Biggest Castle" right from the beginning to be a single Castle with 1,600+ rooms, thus bigger than the Castle in SotN (The Inverted Castle basically being the same rooms, just inverted with some design changes). In agreement with Arcueid Brunestud , I suspect that Bloodstained's 2nd Castle (assuming there will even be one) will be its reflection in the lake. A new ' Reflected' Castle idea, as opposed to an upside-down floating castle.

Maybe a free one, but a DLC nonetheless.

From day one there was the question in the faq about it and they basically said " We wouldn't want to spoil something big like that"... Then in the thread about features the game is considering having and an inverted castle ( or something like it) was one of the things they were/are considering. Just because they aren't talking about it doesn't mean it won't be featured, it's something they'd WANT to be a surprise.

If they intend to surpass sotn in degree of surprise. They may take it to another level by hiding another whole full game within.
Forexample, you are greeted with Bloodstained 2 title screen when you completed Bloodstained: ritual of the night.

1)I don't treat SOTN's castle as it has 1800+ room in one castle. The inverted one actually turned out to be a little lazy.So if ROTN's castle has more than 1600 rooms then they would have done a great job. 2)Personally a inverted castle is not that attractive to me.If they make one,I will happily accept it,but I think Iga himself don't wanna repeat SOTN's trick again(or he would do it in previous castlevania games).
And after playing the DEMO,it seems they probably will make some areas out of the castle and have their own maps.(Like portrait of ruin and order of ecclesia) So if the 1600+-room-castle is just one area of the world map,it would be a huge game to explore.

I would consider it lazy, and I agree, I don't think Iga will use this trick twice (partially maybe)... cause if it does happen, people will be like "yeah I saw that coming" and I doubt Iga would want that. I bet there will be a psych out of an inverted castle then he will throw a curve ball at us. So to summarize what I am trying to say is, I think Iga will have another castle and I doubt he will just do an inverted castle. His plan is to re-capture the "WOW" factor that made the inverted castle so special... Oh and I doubt the rooms will be separate it like in portrait of ruin and order of ecclesia... if wants a SotN feel I think it will be one whole map... I think he separated those maps for story reasons (or to save space) But this is pure conjecture lol, so don't take this last comment too seriously.

I believe that the Galleon Minerva will be its own separate part, as of how large the map appears, and that it'll be an area you can go back to. So yeah, I think separate areas you can go back to will be how they're gunna go about this. Otherwise I feel like the map will be too big, and areas will be harder to discern.
