Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is undoubtedly IGA's largest work, and arguably IGA's BEST work. While he did say that yes, Dawn of Sorrow, and Aria of Sorrow were games created at the peak of his, and his dev team's creativity, I do think that Symphony of the night is his best game. I also think that just having one 1,600 room castle is more than enough. I do NOT want an inverted castle. Here's why. I just recently finished SotN, and I must say that the inverted castle left a little something to be desired. The first thing that I noticed, was that the castle is (obviously) inverted. Snide comments aside, I bring this point up to say that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night did NOT have more than 900 rooms. The reason I say this is that the rooms were no different than the original castle. In fact I would say that at least 80% of the inverted castle was just like going through the original. (10% difference from change in items/enemies, and the other 10% from a stage in the inverted castle called the Floating Catacombs, which not only had integral changes, but changes to aesthetics as well) Think about it, how much easier would it be to idealize more 'rooms' for another castle, when a huge chunk of the work is already done? Nah, I don't want an inverted castle. I'd rather go through a big castle once, than go through the same smaller castle twice. I mean, it changes in the sense that all the platforming is inverted now, and enemies are tougher in the inverted castle, different enemies, different bosses. I don't see the inverted castle as a bad thing, if they didn't have it in the game it'd be a less special game. That moment of discovery and all the crap crammed in that version of the castle puts the game over the top. If anything, Bloodstained could build on it. Make MORE changes, do more things that stand out and make it unique.

The inverted castle is something I'd rather stay original to just SotN. And I don't mean to say the Inverted Castle was a bad thing, I just wouldn't go as far as to say that SotN had more than say...1,000 rooms. Maybe this is what IGA meant when he said that '1,600 rooms will be my biggest castle yet' cause technically, it would be. :p

yea im not crazy bout the inverted castle but if this castle hes making turns out to be like 3200 rooms or higher then if it is the case where he does go the inverted route...... thats a crap ton of exploration. it would be a cool DLC idea thou. introducing new enemies, gear and such i would be ok with that.

Call me crazy but im expecting 1600ish rooms in a single castle PLUS a bonus castle.
Its not because of hype or optimism. But so far IGA always seems so humble, polite, and genuinely gracious.
Point is he doesnt strike me as someone who will meet his promises on a TECHNICALITY rather than what one would initially suspect. Even if he wouldntbe bad or wrong to do it that way.

I would enjoy an inverted castle, but I think I would enjoy other things just was well if not more so.
I'll leave it to Iga to realize what he wants and I'll try to enjoy the heck out of it.

I actually would prefer 3200 rooms in one castle than 2 1600 ones or whatever distribution of #s you like. But I'd greatly prefer 1600X2 than 'just' 1600 as well, so they are good in that sense.
Honestly though I found exploring SoTn's 'normal' castle for the first time to be cooler than the inverted one just cuz the design was...you know... more properly designed. Upside down kinda doesn't make you go ooh and ahh as much beyond the initial weird novelty. Though I did prefer that enemies are more of a threat in the 2nd one.

I think my love for the inverted castle is it takes a location you already love and flips your perception of how it should be structured. Which changes the platforming, changes the enemies, and gives a very well designed location a new feel to it.
As I already said, just putting another additional location wouldn't be as massive or as crazy. Nothing has topped the inverted castle for a reason imo.
I get that some people don't want the game to copy but jesus, are we denying the game is not already copying a lot anyways? It's a spirtual successor but it's obvious it's trying t be a castlevania because we can't have a castlevania. I just think personally speaking it'd be cool for it to return with newer tech, and maybe to be able to take it into a crazier direction somehow.

As long as IGA stays true to his words(as I am confident he will), there is nothing to worry about. He said biggest castle and that's what we'll get. I too agree there should not be an inverted castle because that's "Castlevania" and IGA has such a creative mind. I do believe there will be some type of alternate castle, maybe inside a glass portal. That would probably be a type of hell or abyss but with a different twist on it. I know we'll have an amazing hand regardless of castle size.

1\ No, what IGA said is what we get. I'm pretty confident dev team won't trick us with some kind of wordplay (and a really lame one, I'd say).
2\ If you're asking the inverted castle, no, although this is a genius design (and executed very well in SoTN), but it's like a one-time-blast. If I'm gonna make a SoTN clone so to speak, I probably won't use that mechanism again, that's SoTN's trademark and more importantly people might won't feel anything excited while seeing this. But if we do have the second castle or subordinate castle like the concept art indicates, that would be very cool IMO.

Ha, Let's go full White Harmonic-Symphony Night of the Dissonant-Concerto here!
Let's do an inverted castle that unlocked a reversed (and reversed-inverted) castle!
After you do that, you have a 90 degree shifted castle that's sinking into the lake.

Wow... just wow lol but yeah I think we should get some kind of inverted castle but I don't think that should be final thing... I want to see an alternative castle that does something different... Mirror castle, demon castle, crystal castle or something... again I trust Iga to so something amazing so I will leave it to him and his team

It's one of those things where SOTN kind of ruined the fun; we've been spoiled. After that game, now it's become an expectation to have some crazy extension at game end. I wouldn't doubt that there'd be just extra unexplored areas of the map.

1) You will consider Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night smaller than Symphony of the Night if the whole game end up having 1600 rooms, since if you count the inverted castle of Symphony of the Night, that game has more than 1800? Thus, that would mean the Dev team didn't keep the promise of "Iga's Biggest Castle" Stretch goal? Yes, it is smaller. Here are the salient points: - Total playtime, which can be considered in this case to be the effective gauge of the game's value, is directly affected by a few things, with the total area of exploration being one of the main ones. Fewer areas to explore = less total playtime = less value.
- Even though SotN's inverted castle was simply a mirror of what had already been explored, it came packaged with its own enemies, its own items, and, never forget, its own music.
- I would say the majority of people expect an inverted castle at this point, or something equivalent that serves all of the same purposes, so if the game ends up not having one, it will end up feeling smaller than people were expecting, pretty much regardless of the size of the castle proper.
With all this having been said, IGA could simply bump the room total to 2000 or whatever, and there'd be no possible room for complaint. Also, I would be perfectly okay with having the inverted castle be something only available on a New Game+ (or similar), along with the better ending, assuming multiple endings.

If there is something like an inverted castle, then I imagine it would be something like this...
After getting the true ending from the original 1600+ room castle, Gebel (or whoever is the true main antagonist) curses the castle fully, which in turn creates, destroys and otherwise changes areas with crystal/stained glass growths everywhere. Their aim in doing this is to trap you in the castle as it sinks or descends back to where it came, so your goal is reversed in escaping the castle rather than getting to the heart of it, say, back to the Minerva...where one last time, main villain tries to head you off as you make your final steps away from the castle island.
It would be the same castle, but remixed, with beautiful crystal colors and lighting effects on the environment and new/existing enemies. More powerful shards and crafting drops, naturally, because of what kind of place you are in now. Things like walls and spikes of crystals would be in some spots needing new traversal abilities and equipment to get through (i.e. spike breaker, powerful anti-curse blessed war hammer D:), etc. They could reuse a couple of bosses with altered models and attacks due to the enhancements of the castle curse. We'll call it the Cursed Castle (tm).
Oh, but yeah, I can't imagine a 1600 would mean 800 + an "inverted", nah. That wouldn't reach the goal, like I said.

As posted in the shoutbox by me....
So considering it's the biggest castle do we have any confirmation on the biggest gear and weapons counts as well?
I wanna believe there will be consider a lot of backers are coming up with their own ON TOP of the ones that INTI and ARTPLAY are making.

It's definitely an interesting question. Ultimately, I would consider 1,600 rooms as the biggest castle. Still, I do see the inverted castle as more than just a "copy paste". Since you're fighting from the ceiling, and it's filled with different enemies and bosses, it feels different enough to me. Anyway, for Bloodstained, I'd only be disappointed if there aren't any hidden/secret/optional areas, along the lines of the Nest of Evil. I always love finding places like that.

lol i gave my opinion on this matter a while back but you know what............... yes, yes i do want an inverted castle haha HOWEVER as i posted before i still like the idea bout, way after the games release, They should add dlc for a mirror that takes us to a inverted castle so they can introduce new demons,weapons,gear,blahblah..... i think that way, for most people who dont like the inverted idea, for them its a add on. i mean..... thats a big add on.
