How would you like the game released? Because of the uncertainty of the availability of DLC forever I believe the physical edition should not be released till all content can be put on disc so we will definitely have it as long as we own the game without having to buy a special edition again later to have all content.

If it goes that way, the physical version will have the chance of getting held back

Basically release the main game ( it is going to be big enough to be bought with a physical disc price ) then release all the side contents via DLCs.. as simple as that

I doubt they would hold physical back until it got all content, but I would certainly prefer it if they did.

I doubt they would hold physical back until it got all content, but I would certainly prefer it if they did. Well I bought a copy of each and will have the digital to hold me off so I definitely would also prefer if they waited at least on the physical copy. Digital purchasers will most like got screwed years down the road when they delete from hard drive and can no longer get it back. Either way I have a backlog of games to play to last me the rest of the year so I'd rather wait till it is all complete than get a half finished game which isn't what anyone pledged for in this kickstarter. I pledged my money to get everything that was promised at the same time on disc. So I am willing to wait for the full complete game with all content. I also believe that we should have the option of what way we get the game. We all shouldn't suffer because some people can't wait for a finished product. I personally don't care about extra content if I have finished the game already. If I don't have it while playing there is a slim chance I will go back just to play the extra content. Too many other games out there.

The issue is that people who only backed for a single physical version would have to wait a year+ to play the game. Physical versions not having ALL the available content for a game isn't really a new or alien concept. Issues with DLC going offline is not going to be an issue for probably at least a decade down the line. It's a real issue but given that a DRM-free version of this game is coming out for the PC, I don't think archiving the game will too difficult in the long run.

Voted for the 1st one because with holding the physical copies until all the content is released seems a bit unreasonable. It's easy to pick the 2nd choice but in reality that would set things back quite a bit. It would be a lot less effort, and better for our patience, if we just wait for everything to come out at its own pace.
Also, I think releasing a staggered-released digital copy and a full-content physical copy separately...is pretty pointless. Shouldn't be getting the game, staggered release or now, what really matters?

I voted for the second option,The more options a physical release has the more value and content it will hold through the years, more bonus modes for a physical release also means more people will see a value to pick the game up in stores, the multiplayer and online modes however can be added in later as staggered content I just want the single player content completed and available

I'm voting for what's most fair and reasonable and that's the main game coming out at a decent time with all the extra content being downloadable later. I still don't get the issue. My thoughts mirror crocodiles. Voted 1

That could be fixed by giving a digital code to the physical backers like myself. It wouldn't be without its headaches since many backed for more to get the digital one as well so it could be a headache. Ideally I'd love for the physical copy to include all the content but as a physical only backer I'd hate to have to wait a year to have that shipped that I'd probably end up paying the $29 for the digital copy. Unless the final retail digital release ends up costing $40 or more which then I'd be dissatisfied with having to pay that much for a copy of a game I already backed for $100 way back when.

I think holding back the physical release is a questionable idea. Most of the content that's likely to be part of the staggered release schedule seems rather minor and not worth holding back the entirety of the game for. I'm also doubtful that Bloodstained and its DLC are as ephemeral as some here are making it seem. It would likely take either Inti Creates going under or Konami stomping the game flat to get it delisted, and I think there's a bigger chance of the game simply failing to launch than it being released and suddenly yanked back like a yo-yo.
Even if that ends up the case, though, the disc would still be useful for installing the base game, and PSN, XBLA, GOG and Steam all allow you to re-download content that has been delisted from their stores. Companies removing the ability to do even that is quite rare and has always been met with major backlash, so I don't think that will happen for this game. And if by some unholy twist of fate it does happen, there's always going the less legal route, but that probably shouldn't be discussed here.
Of course, this is assuming the additional content in the pipeline is either free for everyone or free for backers. If that's not the case, things may be a little more dicey than I'm expecting.

Mmm.. Holding the physical one back would feel a little unfair to me. I'd rather both versions be released simultaneously.

As you kind of alluded to, I don't think that's a fair solution because its unfair to those who paid extra to have both a digital and physical version of the game. You could give everyone an extra digital code but then you're asking them to give away 10s of thousands of extra copies of their game away. Even if its a crowdfunded project, they still want/need to make money.

Thinking about it for a while, this poll is invalid since non Kickstarter can vote and of course they won't care about DLC since they will get the retail copy so we need this poll on the Kickstarter page since I only care about the Kickstarter disc. The retail physical version can have a staggered release as it's not a exclusive version.

The retail physical version can have a staggered release as it's not a exclusive version. Most people don't care about DLC because we wouldn't be asked to pay for it and we care more about playing the main game first. It is not about the fact that the DLC for backers is free it is more so on the conservation of the games value down the road. Sure the asynchronous multiplayer servers will shut down in the future but all the offline DLC/other content from the main game should be on the disc to retain its value. 10+ years from now servers that hold the DLC information may be shut down who knows it may not but that uncertainty is what makes this topic important because bringing up this topic has created a no win scenario. Go with the first option and the backers who want to play this ASAP are pleased but leaves the collectors high and dry or go with the second option and it gets reversed. The third option is to hold back everything but then that puts strain on expectations and the hype for the game. The second option arguably speaking should annoy the least amount of people because although it is neck and neck now. There are a ton of backers whom opted for the digital release only of the game and are not active in the community, so letting them play as early as possible is a bonus to them and to the backers whom shelled out enough to get a digital as well as physical release will be able to experience the game while still able to "complete" their collection. The only people who would get really annoyed with this would be the backers whom are in the middle and the ones who only paid for a physical copy.

How about each of us choose if we want a Day 1 Edition of a Full edition. That way, we ALL get what we want.
