As someone who backed for just a physical copy, I'd be pretty mad if digital backers got there's months in advance. I'm fine waiting for Rogue-like mode and Boss Revenge mode, but don't make me wait MONTHS for the main game just because I didn't want digital.

Hm, it's interestingly split right down the middle at the moment. An even 50/50 at 34 votes.

This is a very tough decision since I prefer and also receiving a disc copy. Two years for the main content or an indefinite amount of time for all content. Tough choice.

I think "staggered content" won't be a bad thing. I believe that the main idea behind it is that the main, critical-to-be-first-released portion of Bloodstained is to be readily available in both digital and physical forms, and this really is what we want to play and get our hands on ASAP. And everything else is to be staggered.
I can see how one would be really disappointed with it all. For example, one's job is speedrunning, has chosen to speedrun Bloodstained, doesn't actually care about the story or anything else besides the speedrunning aspects of the game, and absolutely needs the speedrunning element integrated upon initial release, but then finds that the speedrunning element will be available for download in x amount of months and not during initial release. (I'm not trying to single out anyone in particular, just trying to give an example of how certain non-critical game content can block individuals in some way and how, if this scenario actually does play out, it's really not a huge deal.)

lol, even speedrunners generally do multiple normal runs of the game to get familiar with it before they start trying to go fast, unless its a game like ds3 where the mechanics are virtually identical from game to game

Yeah, that's true. I was trying to find an example where staggered content is a huge detriment to one's enjoyment of what will be the first retail offering. I can't seem to find one for myself I bet we'll get the entire key story and ability to access all key general powers, movesets, attributes, etc for Miriam (and for all other playable characters if there will be any on first release) for both physical and initial digital releases. "General" meaning powers like ordinary rock's double-jump and stained glass versions of the fog and bat transformations, and that these sorts of features that have been as accessible as they have been from SoTN through OoC MUST NOT be DLC-gated or be considered candidates for being classified as staggered content features. I have no problems waiting on the extra dungeon, side game, speedrun tools integration, and other similar non-critical items for as long as Iga deems right. And I don't think it's a bad idea to have it so archivists would have to do a bit more work on their end to make sure they have "the entire Bloodstained package" with "all content" for their archiving which entails working around the issue of not having everything available in one package at a particular point in time.

I'm sorry, but I definitely like my games complete, including everything on disc so it will be available forever. People who actually like the idea of getting a incomplete package and getting the rest in installments, then 10 years down the road only have the main campaign even though you paid for the whole experience seems a little absent minded. I think too many people are just excepting this horrible DLC craze as the norm without questioning the disadvantages it brings. Some may say in 10 years you wont be playing the game anymore but I still play SOTN at least a few times a year and I am sure this game will be the same, especially with a randomly generated castle every time you play. So I definitely want everything I paid for with this kickstarter on the disc since that is what I thought was implied from the beginning and I am willing to wait and believe it should be a choice us backers should be able to make as a whole or each individually on how we want our copies delivered.

Anyway I think that their mind is made so meh, depending on how much is left out of the disc is if I will help on another project or not. At least the PC version can be archived and backed up completely.

I see no issue with staggering the release of content. We still don't know exactly how much of the content is going to be part of the initial release.

From the other thread After hearing many disagreement from our physical backers, this will be in our mind. As for now, our goal is to deliver the main game. This is to everyone but please disregard any article that bring up release date assumptions. ArtPlay and Inti Creates do have control over the game completion but releasing the game could very much change due to our publisher. There has been no official statement regarding this matter. Ill fix it when im not slogging through phone (I got ya - Mike)

With a physical disc it isn't important that online multiplayer is working on disc, because that requires an internet connection and constant updates/patches anyways. People who want physical copies are looking for the main singleplayer game to be complete.

Yes, hopefully not everybody who backed at tiers for physical copies aren't expecting absolutely every promised feature to be part of the initial release. The main single-player modes (especially the main story) are no doubt going to be complete. No Igavania game has ever been released without a complete Castle to explore.

I think people are getting off the point of this thread. The main point is most people who bought a physical copy want ALL pertinent content of the solo experience on disc when it arrives PERIOD. We want a the full game we paid money to back, on the disc, which is what we assumed was implied, so we have it in its entirety forever. Not just the main campaign. We want the...
local co-op new game plus secret bosses 2d pixel retro version rogue-like dungeon mode prequel mini-games all playable characters any extra outfits that may not be part of the original campaign..
on disc. All things that I believe make this game complete. All things that would make Bloodstained INCOMPLETE if we weren't able to download the content, in the inevitable likelihood that they aren't available forever. I don't want to feel like I have to get the PC version just to be guaranteed I will always have full access to everything I paid for. I am sure I don't speak just for myself when I say I am willing to WAIT for a complete, all content included, physical release, and will be EXTREMELY disappointed if that's not what we get and have to buy a GOTY edition to have it all on disc another year down the road.
If you agree with me, we need to make sure our fears are heard and understood. Remember, this is about having the complete experience FOREVER, and having it all on disc is the only way this is guaranteed. If you only bought the digital release that is fine, but help the physical backers who are a large part of this kick starters success, get what they deserve.

I'd say that those being part of the initial release is a given. As for the extra outfit (Miriam's "Pure" Costume), I personally don't think they'll wait until a later update to include that in the game.

salamis right, its on console/pc too, its one of the tiers i either forget exists or i lump it in with classic mode, anyway inti is the one to ask about the pixquel since that was their awesome idea, its something that i think is going to be built off a modified gunvolt engine so i dont think itll be too much trouble for them to make and it may even be something they could get ready ahead of the main game

GV-style graphics would be really cool imo, but I've been assuming it will be more Mighty Gunvolt style personally, partly because the icon for that stretch goal was a Famicom controller.
Anyway...I understand the concerns of some of our physical backers here. The thing is though, I think you're being just a bit unreasonable? What you're proposing would be the exception, far from the norm, for any game now. The unique predicament of a Kickstarter game especially puts the project in a bind as far as coming up with deliverables within a respectable timeframe. I think it's easier to look far forward at this point and say we would rather wait, but for the overall health of the project and logistics, all at once with the staggered model is a good way to go.
Wide reception for this game is pretty important, and there are at least 25,000 people who pledged only for a physical disc. I'm fairly sure not all of those people would be okay with missing out on the game entirely for an undisclosed period of time while everyone else is playing. If someone is that serious of a collector and can handle that, then I imagine they wouldn't have an issue ponying up the eventual assumed "forever" re-release that has all of the content.
As far as things being lost and incomplete many years down the line, aside from the kind of release I just mentioned, I think you underestimate the desire of publishers to make more money on things that are already made. When new platforms, new means of playing come along that outdate what you already had your games on, it's a safe bet that they will be available again elsewhere...certainly this, being one of the top 2 successfully Kickstarted games of all time.
