purifyweirdshard The way some forums and subreddits do it is that when a particular subject starts getting spammed too much in multiple threads, they create a stickied megathread and restrict conversation about said topic to that thread alone. It allows conversation to continue for those who want to participate without degrading the signal-to-noise ratio for everyone else. I think that in some cases, these update threads should be exempt from that as long as the update itself is relevant to the topic(and no, not getting new information that you wanted to see in the update doesn't constitute relevancy), but I do think that such an action is warranted here in some cases. I don't need this place to be a hug box or anything; we've had disagreements on this forum in the past. But when some people keep spamming the same comments about the same topic in every thread - especially when they are doing so for the explicitly stated purpose of provoking a response - it brings down the community for the rest of us. It is my opinion that we are well past the point of something needing to be done about it. Suggestions and light warnings have both been given to individuals, but the problem could more cleanly be solved by simply implementing and enforcing rules common to other forums without targeting any one poster. Just a quick "hey, we've noticed this subject coming up a lot, and in order to keep things more on topic, we're creating a thread for that. Please move all conversation of that nature over there for now." and keep it stickied while it's still relevant and being discussed. I understand the desire not to be seen as censoring, and to let all opinions have an equal place in the community, but if no moderation or organization is performed at all, you risk having the opposite problem, where the people just wanting to discuss the game in a casual environment leave or go to lurk mode because the place is perceived to be one giant gripe fest. You've already seen some posts to that effect in this very thread. It's not too far from there until the place is basically little different than the KS comment section, just with the most venomous elements blunted a bit.

ReySol Anyone can post there, but the terrible formatting, lack of tools and absence of any ability to moderate discussion makes it a terrible place to do so, trending to a quality of conversation somewhat worse than your average Youtube comment section. I stopped posting there once I understood it was just a shouting match between a bunch of Karens (and this is far from the only Kickstarter I've backed where this has been the case). I don't feel there's any point to joining in, so I stick to other sites. I'm not the only backer who has done this. You may notice that where people actually have the ability to contest and criticize both the substance and delivery of these complaints, they have done so. In particular, the more childish complainers on Reddit consistently get downvoted into oblivion. On this site, there are people consistently being criticized for the way they are pursuing their complaints, where as on KS, there is no meaningful way to do so. There is no one to tell people to constrain their single topic complaints to a single thread about said topic, nor is there any way for someone to create such a thread in the first place. It's just one big disorganized mess that is generally unpleasant to navigate and use. @bloodymiri There may be scalpers buying directly from retailers(but in other cases, there have been a surplus of steelbooks, so maybe not), but the ones being made available directly to the backers will be sold only one per backer(as per this update). The limited availability is still going to make getting one a crapshoot(maybe: past participation in surveys indicates fewer people may be paying attention to this sort of thing than you might think), but there's no worry of someone exacerbating the issue by swooping in and buying all of them out from under us.

My prediction for the third playable character is that it's going to be Couch-kun. Previously content to lounge around in save rooms all day, recent criticism that he looks out of place on an old ship has prompted Couch-kun to take action, brave the demonic forces of Gebel and prove once and for all that he looks good anywhere.

Hmm... it will be interesting to see where I fall in this. Technically speaking, I live in Japan, but I have an US(military post) mailing address. I'm assuming that I'd fall under my mailing address as far as digital content goes instead of geographical location, but I guess I'll see. Well, at least I backed for a GOG copy, so I don't have to worry about Steam region shenanigans like I have with other games in the past.

I would imagine so. WoW has managed this far without dropping it, so I can't see why they'd go F2P now.

So WoW Classic is slated for an August release(thankfully well after RotN). I used to play the game back in its vanilla days, and quit some time after the first expansion. I'm probably going to give Classic a try, maybe look up some old guildmates, and see if the old style still appeals to me. Anyone else going to try delving back into the game?

IMO the biggest problem with rare drops is that it puts wanting to collect an ability - let alone all abilities - at cross purpose with not wanting to trivialize the challenge of the content. That is to say, by pursuing specific dropped abilities or items, you're naturally going to level more than if you were just playing the game normally.
The best way to fix this is one use by the Dark Souls series, and that is to give the player an item that prevents experience gain. This would allow players who prefer a challenge to still take on a collector's mindset. Granted, it's a bit late to be bringing that up now, but maybe as something added in as a patch later, either as an item or an equipped ability.

I think something to keep in mind is that the closer to release the game gets, the less the information coming out is in service to informing us, and the more it is in service of effectively marketing the game. And that's as it should be. The game may not have been possible without us, but without sales, we're back where we started when it comes to a sequel getting made(or whatever Iga wants to do for his next project). I'd love to know every last detail as soon as possible, but if spreading the details out over multiple announcements, trailers, game jouno articles, etc is more effective at keeping non-backers' attention, then that's the right move to make IMO.

The thing is, I think I'd take about the same approach to timing the release of information regardless of whether the extra modes and such were ready to go. If it isn't, then the next monthly update is a good time to outline the post-release timeline they're aiming for. If it is, then they have all month to try to keep the conversation going with maybe some interviews or other articles, and then at the end of the month, hit hard with another trailer advertising all the extra modes coming out. That should keep the hype going for the remaining few weeks until release.

Did someone on the 505 end imply as much in the Discord server, or is this you guessing? Here's a screenshot from Reddit with an official response about the physical copies. It also gives info about their plans for telling us about the stretch goals and such.

I do. I couldn't initially afford that much(started with just the $60 tier), but I did eventually end up with the $300 signed Collector's Box. I would have liked to have bumped it up to $500 for the map print, but they closed the tiers about a week before I would have been able to grab it. I'm not super upset about it or anything, it would have just made for an interesting wall decoration.

The idea that an Igavania would be considered outdated because it's slower than current Metroidvanias is bizarre to me. It's not like there weren't fast paced games when Castlevania was popular. Platformers had been considerably faster since the original Mario Bros. Even within the Metroidvania genre you had, well, Metroid. The Castlevania series has always been slower than a lot of other games out there, and it was never a problem then. There's no need for it to meet some arbitrary speed requirement that other games are supposedly setting. The Castlevania games were fun at their pace, and I fully expect RotN will be as well.

All I want is a familiar that I can let do it's thing in a room full of respawning enemies while I stand safely out of reach, allowing me to level both the familiar and myself while I sleep, then equip the now overpowered familiar as a weapon and tear holy hell through most of the game with little to no resistance.
Is that so much to ask?
