@autumn, Hollow Knight is definitely worth playing. The only DLC that it has is for the soundtrack. The story additions you're thinking of were provided as free patches / updates.

Those are pretty cool, and show some areas I didn't realize were there. I'm hoping the later levels start coming up as well.

@autumn
Regardless of what happens with the exclusive content, we totally need to get the title "Bloodstained 2: Boogaloo of the Night" to Iga and see about having that as the official title.

I DEFINITELY don't want any skin/cosmetic DLC. Yes, based on the fact that there are a lot of people who like and pay for that type of DLC, and some of the survey questions seems to be geared in that direction I think they're already considering downloadable skins. How this will ultimately play out is left to be seen, but is one area where my hopes are not all that high. I have been surprised before though.

I do agree with you about DLC abuse being rampant, I myself do like the idea of continually supporting the game for some time to extend the life of it through DLC, it goes without saying that this has to be handled well or not at all. It being done right is the key here, and I tend to lean towards the not at all level. It would be difficult for the best of us to do it right with the incentive of 'easy money' being there relating to how DLC is often handled. Since so much was promised in the Kickstarter I'm fairly confident we're going to get a full game as it is that shouldn't have a lot of need for extra DLC. Personally I'd much rather have ArtPlay planning ahead and have any free resources go to the next big thing rather than pumping out skins and other DLC for purchase after the fact.

There is literally no win situation for this. Regardless of what happens there's going to be a group of people who are not happy with the results. I tend to side with those saying a promise was made, and it should be kept. There are enough people out there who's word is worthless, we don't need another.
Just because the Iga boss and swordwhip are exclusive in Bloostained Ritual of the Night does not mean that cannot be added into sequels. If the game doesn't do well enough to where there's a sequel then it may not be worth bothering with to begin with, although with what I've seen so far I'm thinking there will be one which may be me being more optimistic than I should be.
I also tend to be against DLC in general. I prefer a complete game, and anything extra can come in its sequel. Having additional DLC levels that are paid for separately and downloaded later gives incentive to intentionally leave out content so that it can be added in later as a paid for expansion. I feel there are too many games out there already that are doing that as well.

For whatever reason that last stage in nightmare mode seemed somewhat unrefined in comparison to the rest of the game to me. I did like the idea each character had their own area to go through, and the boss battle was pretty sweet.

Clash of the Titans was one of my favorites. If you can find a copy of the original before they mutilated some of the stop motion in the remaster it was great all around.
It was sad what they did to it in the remake. I think the worst of that was taking the incredibly tense scene with Medusa and making it into a generic action sequence.

I'm hoping the majority of the enemies in Curse of the Moon will also end up in Ritual of the Night. It'll be interesting to see how the enemies there translate to the 2.5d environment.

Busterific Maybe I've just been in smellier places than you. Hopefully places that smell good rather than smell bad. It probably more has to do with the fact that I'm allergic to almost everything and most of the time can't smell anything at all.

Busterific I remember the smell of the place I was at when I first heard particularly memorable pieces of music. There are some songs I associate with specific events or seasons, but not smells. There are a few video games that always bring a particular season in mind as well. Usually when that season comes around I get an urge to re-listen to the music or re-play the game which probably further solidifies the association.

Busterific Is that a thing? I play music in my head almost constantly and even compose it occasionally. From my understanding that is a thing, although I can't think of the specific term that was used for it off the top of my head. The same goes for being able to bring up an image in your mind which I'm not as good at as being able to replay a song or voice. I tend to have music constantly skimming across the top of my mind as well and didn't consider that not everyone would be able to do that until it had been mentioned it to me.
It actually gets more unusual than that too. Apparently people with Chromesthesia will strongly associate sounds with specific colors which is also something I would not have considered without hearing about it elsewhere.

Not at all, although individuals who can't replay music in their minds may get jealous of your ability to do so.

I'm also interested in which tracks are remixes from the main title and will have alternate versions there as well.

I don't believe Zangetsu, sans skillset, can get enough air to jump from the middle of the room.....I shall test that out, tonight and see. Does Gebel jump higher than Zangetsu? I've done that with Gebel before.

I'm sure it's the same one. I've never been hit by it either, but I've seen others get hit by it. (They didn't complain.) You're right. That's kind of cool now that I've seen it. I noted that the fire elemental are also one hit after attempting to use veteran knock-back along with an intentional hit to get around one of them without Alfred.

Am I the only one that jumps over it at the middle of the screen? If it's the mini-boss I'm thinking of then no. I think I haven't actually been hit by it's one shot ability yet. The only time I've been hit by it is by jumping into it during it's initial back and forth movement when trying to get an attack of my own in. Going to see if I'm thinking of the right mini-boss when I get another opportunity to play the game.

Is this on the Zangetsu only run? I'm just getting started on that one. I don't remember coming across any enemies with a one hit kill, unless they knock you off a cliff. I'm wondering if I bypassed it with some of the shortcuts.

I'm curious if they're running filters over them to make them look more like oil paintings or to otherwise fit the aesthetic of where they're being used in the game. I think it would be real cool if they had a room where you had to fight off all the backer portraits.
