Super Bunnyhop is pretty great. I felt he's always had a good balance between being informative, comedic, and just being himself without using any gimmicks.
Never really noticed the long shadows certain areas of SOTN had until the video pointed them out. I guess it shows how natural they felt in the game if didn't notice that (but my brain probably did on a subconscious level).

I'm a big fan of SotN. As such, this review makes me feel bad. I understand the criticisms that the reviewer brought up regarding the level design and enemy placement and so forth, but I never really noticed those things until this review pointed them out. The fact is that SotN as an entire package is so good that you don't notice things like repeating an obstacle multiple times just to get across a room.
The bit about killing the warg in the entrance hallway with one hit is pretty accurate except for the fact that Alucard is using a very powerful weapon at that point in the game.
This review also makes me wonder about how IGA may change things with Bloodstained to cater to more modern game designs. I find myself now wondering how else enemies could be placed and presented in a 2.5D IGAvania style game. Are the enemies just standing in the hallways patrolling? Or just standing on some ledge? It would be cool to add in things that the demons are doing when Miriam approaches. An example could be something like having a couple of demons eating some other demon and they turn on Miriam when she gets close. I hope enemies will have little details in their presentation like this to modernize the IGAvania style.

Interesting. I've seen a few SBH videos in the past but never this review before. Basically his review can be summed up as - The game is gorgeous, has a great artstyle and a great soundtrack
- Level design leaves a lot to be desired in part because there is very little actual platforming and not enough architectural variety
- The game is super easy in part because enemies are mostly a joke - they aren't numerous or aggressive
- Tons of weapons, items and equipment that are useless because the game doesn't challenge you to use them/its better to ignore them
- Game lacks efficiency of design and balance similar games like Metroid had
- Easy to skip or miss large portions of the game
- Rewards for exploration often aren't high enough
- Inverted Castle twist was awesome in 1997 but might be less awesome now due to context of the industry
- The game was a huge risk at the time and massively influential moving forward
- It was and remains a lot of fun in spite of its warts
To be honest, I can't really say I disagree with any of this!

It's definitely a fair criticism, if you ask me.
I can easily understand, as SotN still feels to me like the easiest of all Igavania games in the Castlevania series.
It's still a fantastic game, followed up by many more fantastic Castlevania games. At the time of developing this game, IGA's team was simply nowhere near as experienced with developing these kinds of games as they surely are now, but they still did a great job, all things considered. (The Galamoth fight is still a bit challenging without the Beryl Circlet, for one thing)
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is sure to surpass all of IGA's previous works.
