Hi everyone, This is the very first thread I create on the forum and it's not related to Bloodstained but you red well, Final Fantasy IX is back and it comes into PC and Mobile ! According to currently available informations, it will be released during 2016 on Steam and it will also be playble on iOS /iPhone and Android. What's new : • HD remake (check screenshots) • Auto-save (cloud system) • Achievements • "High-Speed" mode (only few infos about this) • "Game Boosting" features (same thing) As far as I know, the game will include an option to avoid random battles, I guess this is what High-Speed mode is refering to. More informations are about to come for sure ! Personaly, this was my very first FF back in the day when I was like eight or nine years old. There are so much memories, life lessons and so on I got from it and I'm so excited about this glorious come back. I sincerly hope I could bring to you the same joyfulness it brought me too. The high-speed/game boost thing is probably the same as what's included in the recent PSN/iOS version of FF7. No encounters, increased game speed, and a straight out cheat to max out your HP/MP by clicking in the analog stick I believe. Yeah. Well, it was only natural that this come about for IX since VII and VIII have been released on PC already. I couldn't really get into this game  |

Yes it is, but I've heard it had no graphism remake like FFIX will. To be fair, FFIX never had a pc port, where as FFVIII had one when it was originally released. It's also why FFVII looks like FFVII from 19 years ago. |

I'm really just looking forward to a huge VI remake. I still consider IV/VI to be the best, and the former has had SO MUCH done with it. I never could have imagined they'd remake/do sequels for FFIV like 8 times as they have now. It must be a very popular game over there.
VIII PC could be done a lot better, yeah. From what I understand, they even used an inferior soundtrack quality for the game (midi or something like it), which just sounds utterly ridiculous to me lol.

I'm glad the game is getting re-released since FF9 is my favorite entry in the series and more people will be able to play it. The improved visuals look great, but I also hope the game ends up being a good port and there's no major gameplay changes.

To me, IX is the best because it was my first one and nothing can replace childhood memories but VIII comes right after ! It is just a matter of tastes but it is true that it deserves way more love. What fans dislike in this FF is rightly what makes its charm in my opinion (retro + modern + futuristic places and sometimes mixed). |

Out of the playstation era I do have to say FF8 was the weakest of the three. However, out of the first 10 games, I would probably put it in the #5 spot. FF7>FF4>FF10>FF9>FF8.
I don't consider it a weak entry at all. That just speaks to my belief of how strong the entries surrounding it were.

Those boosters are 100% cheats.
Max Gil, Instant mastery of abilities (as opposed to gradually learning via Equip), Max Level (maxes character level), Max Magic Stones (stones are used to set abilities, and are normally gradually acquired as a character gains experience)... All of these are cheating. None of that is an "enhancement" per se; merely a way to speed run the plot, and take away challenge, both of which were and still are features available via Gameshark/Codebreaker.
What the "boosters" fail to do, are the following: Add difficulty spikes, allow you to rename a character mid game, or let you pick up an item you missed. All excellent features (Damn you, Excalibur II), still readily available via the above mentioned methods; and all legal to do on your PlayStation console... Presuming you own both the game discs, a legitimate PlayStation console, and a cheat device.
Either way... I like that IX is getting some love.
End of the day, they just swapped a few plugins (which changes the read and compression ratio of the textures); and are charging you around $15 - 20 for it. Naaah... I'm good. I'll just use my discs.
Edit: Afterthoughts...
Final Fantasy games and touch screens? I dunno... I still can't get past the mess they caused with the Tactics mobile port, Dragon Quest VIII (mobile build), VI, and Final Fantasy Dimensions. All that float, none of the precision; and no blue-tooth controller, screen axis rotation, or save state support.

I've thought about Excalibur II a bit later after seeing these boosters, it's surely a way to get it easier. The game in 12 hours or with tons of conditions wasn't attracting to my eyes and both fun-killer.
I'm thinking about a New Game "+" where, after beating the Exca II challenge, you could get it instead of the simple Excalibur, but that would be a bit broken to have a sword stronger than Ragnarök, earlier !
