I dunno, I find it kinda sad if people really feel like they had no interest in supporting BS if Konami wasn't being a derp. I know I would have wanted to support it either way. I mean I know that's something to say or consider, but how many people REALLY can say 'I wouldn't be interested in BS if it wasn't for konami"? I hope very few. I think fans of Iga's games would have supported it even had Konami not gone crazy. Fans were asking for a new Castlevania developed by him for years prior to him leaving Konami, so the demand was there. I'm confident the Kickstarter would have been successful even if Konami didn't go the direction they did. However, I don't think it would have broken records if that were the case. Once it became clear that Konami wasn't going to make a Symphony-style Castlevania again I think the opportunity became much more ripe for the Bloodstained crew.

Konami's pr issues and their gaming output up to this year definitely coincide with Bloodstaned's success. I think it was the kickstarter pitch video combined with Konami pr and the passionate fans of Iga and Iga-inspired 2D games that very much contributed to the success that it has been.

The first signs of Konamis douchebaggery came from the Skull girls community when they basic all shat all over the team making the game. Following that worry some year the Hideo Kojima stuff started and... just damn. IGA got out at a good time because of the crumbling situation for honest gaming over at Konami. Would Bloodstained have dome this well? Either way I say yes and in similar proportions. People like ourselves who have likely been "Konami" fans since childhood watched that company disentigrate in the last four or five years and just think to ourselves "why can't we just get x game" with MGSV being cut short and other things like that coming to light those fans who have been there the entire time likely feel cheated or shortchanged. I know my motivation was veryhappy when i saw the bloodstained crowd funding begin. A friend showed me knowing km a long time castlevania fan and I threw all the money I could at it.
Bloodstained was going to be a success non matter the atmosphere of konami.
My only worry is for how long. Other than that, nada

Spite and Anger can be a powerful tool when used correctly,In this case I would say for certain that Konami's bad behavior throughout this year had indeed made a beneficial financial impact on the kickstarter on this game just the same as when capcom was going ban-happy cancelling multiple megaman games and in turn when mighty no.9 was announced was a huge success
However Castlevania Symphony of the Night is a cult Classic,People like me signed up for this Kickstarter being a fan of the series,The fact I spite Konami now is just the frosting on the cake,I'm sure the kickstarter would have been a success either way but the whole Konami vs Kojima and the fact they pretty much written off castlevania as a mere pachislot machine I'm quite sure pissed a lot of people off and made them wanna stick it to them by donating to this campaign
I should also point out I am impressed at how well done the kickstarter was handled with the stretchgoals being shown as one of the first things to motivate people and that good admins like XombieMike were chosen to help with the forum here since you can take one look at admins and tell how big of fans they are of the series,Unlike the whole Dana debacle on the mighty number 9 forums...that whole mess wanted a lot of people to desire a refund
And as for Konami...I can honestly say after MGSV the Phantom Pain came out I was done with them, washed my hands clean of them like the smelly turd they are

I think if Bloodstained had found a conventional means of funding, or if Konami had greenlighted it, it probably would have been a lesser product in the end, and not as well received. That may still be a chance of a poor game now, but it is far more clearer that this is IGA taking the genre as far as he can with the support he has earned with it. It will serve as both a game for the fans and the developer honing what he started so long ago, and what fans have been seeking out ever since.

Without question. The whole rotten mess with Konami throwing its games business under the bus to pawn pachinko machines aside, these sorts of crowd-funded games are doing so well because the large publishers have all but put several genres through the wood chipper in pursuit of the latest AAA shovelware fad. People still crave games of these types, and this is about the only way they're going to get them.

Well, if I'll be honest I still feel like Bloodstained would have been a success, but maybe not as big of one. It's hard to say for sure, but it was a bigger success than Mighty No. 9, which asked for more and got less. Maybe Bloodstained just had a better run campaign, I don't know.
People weren't happy with the MN9 result, which I think is the core reason Red Ash didn't get funded (as well as MN9 not even being out yet). I hope Bloodstained gets a good mid-reception so that if they need to fall back on Kickstarter for their next project that it'll go well.

Yup, pretty much. Sad the 1999 castlevania will never happen. But when one door closes another opens.
