Unfortunately. I think the amount of things they want to do with the game will be too much to fit into a 3DS cartridge. If they made a pixel version of the game then maybe it could fit onto the 3DS but that's a lot of extra work.

After it is released and they are pleased with the success, they may port it to the New 3DS. But that is quite a while from now...

Since it is made on Unreal Engine 4 there is absolutely no way it will be ported to the 3DS, for several reasons, from resolution (similar to the PS1) to GPU performance. Not to mention the time of release (2017) we may already have the 3DS sucessor and this one MAY have a chance to get a port, who knows, still unlikely.

I'd argue that this game is best left to larger consoles than hand held gaming. For future titles I'd agree this could be fantastic, but not this game. It has been far too long since I've played (and many of us) as true IGAvania game on a large screen, with finely detailed artwork, vivid colors, and fantastic music. The limitations of the 3DS would render the experience sub par (currently), so it would be best to avoid this route for now. Leave future titles (some, not all) to the 3DS. A "balance" of sorts.

It would be nice to play this game handheld as I did older castlevania titles on the DS such as portrait of ruin,order of ecclesia,and dawn of sorrow however if the Ps4 and PC versions are the superior graphics and sounds for the game,then that's where it's going
Also I'm still having a bad taste in my mouth after the last castlevania 3ds game lords of shadow mirror of fate...the game was not quite good

There's always the Vita version! Definitely handheld. The Wii U game may also have some neat functionality with the Wii U pad, so there's that.
The mini-game will also be on the 3DS and I haven't seen anyone here mention that yet.
