Who here remembers the very first Land Before time Film? The Secret of N.H.I.M., An American Tale, All dogs go To Heaven, Thumbalina, or even the still talked about film Anastasia? Also, who here remembers the game Dragons Lair?

Well Don Bluth, the director and animator of many of those films, has decided he is willing to come out of retirment and give us at least one more film. A film adaptation of his Dragons Lair series.

With your help, we can bring back classic 2D animation to the big screen by bringing back one of the most classic video games to the film genre. Directed and animated by Don Bluth, the same man behind the original video game series.

There was a Kickstarter campaign? huh, thats weird. I only know about this from the recent Nostalgia Critic videos, who had been urging people to support the Indegogo, there was no mention of it on Kickstarter.

Either way, I'm flippin' excited! 2D Animation on the big screen again, I know that when this is done, I'm gonna go see it <3

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, the campaign is really funding a four-minute pitch. It won't guarantee a movie.

Your contributions on Indiegogo will be spent to produce a four-minute video which we will call the Pitch Presentation. In the Pitch Presentation video, you will see outline storyboarding, i.e., drawings that will hit the bullet points of what the movie will eventually be. Within this four minute pitch video, our team will also create one full minute of classical animation in full color.

In addition to the four minute pitch video, we intend to employ a professional screenwriter to work with us on the movie script.

You would think that between the lot of these guys, they themselves could fund a 4-minute pitch. From it sounds like, this has been trying to be "a thing" for over a decade, though. I imagine his history being dotted with those flops aren't helping him, but...seems odd they wouldn't already have a pitch with these names involved?

It seems more like the campaign is a hype vehicle for the proposed movie, to make it more likely to happen.

Yeah, its more than likely the Kickstarter is to show local animation companies that there is a demand for this film, to help encourage said animation companies into wanting to do it. Anyone from Disney, to Warner Brothers, or even Dreamworks, could end up with the film. We will have to wait and see how it goes.
