As we all know they talked about how head gear in the game will change your characters appearance. However, have we got any confirmation that other gear will as well? or if there will be capes that you can wear that show up visually? etc..etc.. Or is it JUST headgear?

I only knew about the pure Miriam costume that was unlocked on the Kickstarter. Hopefully someone else can come chime in Edit: could I get a link to hear about those headpieces?

nothing yet, the only hint so far has been the pure miriam concept art changes the dress slightly, but that is a costume, from the looks of the customization concept art therell be 3 color sections (base, sub, and trim), skin (i dont think thisll be tied to the hat, but it is possible), hair (unknown if itll be slider or preset, hoping slider base and streak) and the different hats actually wondering if instead of equipping a full cape, you equip a different mantle like the one she wears

I personally think it'd be cooler instead of having that color customization idea, to have different costumes throughout the game that changes the look of her get up. So instead of capes you'd get a red one with the same basic design but it will have a unique visual effect stuff like the Alucard cloak and how it blinks but with her actual in-game uniform.
THENNNN you get something like how there was a Joseph's cloak which you can now change it to whatever color you want. I think having that right at the beginning makes it less special. It becomes a .. 'create a character' type mode instead of a unique function you get later into the game after you found your own cool costumes.

CastleDan, hahaha....so, every time I see you post, I go in thinking "I wonder what comparison/thing he wants from SotN this time". I'm rarely disappointed.

CastleDan, hahaha....so, every time I see you post, I go in thinking "I wonder what comparison/thing he wants from SotN this time". I'm rarely disappointed. Do you blame me? Everything since then feels very streamlined. I think they were able to do more on the PS1 then a handheld device and they had more time to develop SOTN. it had it's failings but the amount of little details I don't think was matched since. Needless to say, I don't want the same experience, I want this to be a new thing. However, I don't think it's a bad idea to draw from the inspirations of one of his best games. Aria of Sorrow is another one I absolutely loved but lets face it, in AOS you would find a cape and equip it....nothing happens. Going from a game that shows visual changes to a game that did nothing when equipping felt like a step backwards. Going from a game that had weapons but also had shields that you COULD equip if you want to, to a game that got rid of shields altogether or just featured some in a soul sorta way felt like a step backward. SOTN wasn't special because of those details, it was special because it had so much crammed into it that you could DECIDE how you wanted to play it. You didn't have to use the shields, you could play with a sword equipped in each hand but the options for shields were there. My point is, it may seem like I'm pushing for a SOTN experience but in reality I'm pushing for an experience with MORE detail, and MORE elements that make it feel special. That doesn't mean don't do anything bold or new.... I'm saying do bold things, expand on what made SOTN special....go beyond what it did, not restrict it into a streamlined product with prettier graphics.
In some ways they're already doing that. When IGA was talking about drops that you can just apply to your character to increase running speed, or increase just the stats. That's a cool addition, that goes beyond what SOTN did. I'm hoping for more along those lines and more things that allow your character to feel more customizable, within the game world not in a character creator sorta way.
There's an undeniable feeling when I first played SOTN. I would just discover things on my own and be like... Holy crap? You can do this? I mean remember the first time you pressed the shield and shield rod buttons at the same time and realized it had a different effect with each shield? Or when you threw peanuts you could only eat them if you caught it. It's all these little details that made SOTN top of the pack. Spell input commands. Transformations that had many different abilities you could collect. Shields that could be used as offensive items as well as defensive. Environments that were as much a character as anything else. Above it all it really felt like a world that took place in the 1700's whereas i'd argue the later games felt more like sunday morning cartoon/anime type influences. ( although again, I realllllly liked Aria)

It's not at all that I disagree with anything you've said, more that it's amusing that your posts are pretty much always that lol.
I don't think you have to worry, man. These games post-SotN were all Gameboy Advance and DS, I think that's the main cause of them feeling less ambitious and with less thoughtful graphical touches/detail. We're now looking at something that will for the second time ever be a modern console Igavania game, and indications from his own comments and what he's shown us so far lead me to think he's shooting for something similar, but indeed larger in scope. Pretty amazing.
I do think the obvious goal for the project is "SotN, but bigger", though there are great things that came from later games we shouldn't count out too. Can't fault anyone for bringing up those sorts of ideas, they're all good games that tried different things.

" Look at SOTN, clone that ignore the other games." There's loads of elements about the other games I absolutely loved. Aria of sorrow especially. Great castle layout, interesting story, soul system first introduced. Takeaway is, I really hope they find a way to allow you to find costumes IN the game that change your appearance, not just a character editor function. There's no denying they want to try and top SOTN with this... " Symphony of the night/Ritual of the night, Alucard son of dracula has a place in his castle, Miriam has a place in her respective castle, Alucard been in a hibernation/Miriam has been in a hibernation...and both are half human half....souless cursed beings".. You can see some of the similarities. It's different but you can tell they're trying to make you remember those feelings you had playing SOTN for the first time.
