It sounds like only Joel is coming back. Mary Jo Pehl, Mike Nelson, Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, and Bill Corbett said they won't be participating.
On the other hand, I like the idea of passing on the torch (or brand name) to a new creative team and host instead of just reuniting various cast members like Cinematic Titanic and Rifftrax did. I know my expectations for this are unrealistic, but please let the new host be Adam Scott, Paul Rudd, or Paul F. Tompkins.

New update happened yesterday. It goes into casting announcements, why they cast who they did, Turkey Day marathon details, and if the campaign reaches $2.75 million before Thanksgiving everyone at $35 and up will get three more free old MST3K episodes in addition to the ones that were already offered. The $35 tier is looking pretty good right now.

There's also the brand name audience to consider. MST3K was on TV for 10 years, has cult following, and there's still an audience for the stuff they're doing (Rifftrax, Let's Plays, etc). It doesn't guarantee success, but it does help a lot. I'm curious to see what gets revealed during the Turkey Day marathon (and I hope they show Pumaman, Cave Dwellers, or Space Mutiny). |
