While we're aware (as far as I know) that the Bloodstained sky won't feature as an explorable part of the game, it still has huge potential should it ever materialize in the future. What if there was a section of the castle that allows Miriam to become airborne and discover whatever may exist in the brooding, twilight space. Let's face it, the sky is a helluva arena to showcase some impressive moves and battle some really terrifying monsters. Would there even be small levitating islands that only appear high up in the moonlight during the witching hour? What monsters could you envisage keeping watch over the castle and protecting hidden treasures and sacred weapons? Does the cosmic energy from above harbour a new breed of evil that's preparing to take over the castle?

That's certainly mighty interesting; perhaps good fodder for a sequel, if all goes well

Not a bad idea. The world could be torn to shreds, so to speak. Then while in you platform, the world could be tearing itself apart in the background while also affecting the platforming.

What Miriam found a grounded mirror aimed towards the sky? From the angle it would seem like she is falling into the 'sky'. So how about it be a special 'sky basement'? Map it in the sky, access it like going downwards.
Would make for great potential dlc.

If you ask me, I want a floating roc under a red sky where you will face an ocean of flying demons while the evil is opening the gate to Hell, but that is a cliché.

i just hope the sky isn't alway red in the game. It'd be too monotonous

True. It has to be dark too.

Night, sure, but I wouldn't mind blue sky and sun mixed in, either. After all, stained glass shines most brilliantly with white light.
Some of the most memorable background from SotN for me involved those with the fast-moving clouds, flying towards you, above and below (the chapel). Some thunderstorms back there would be great, as well...that created a memorable atmosphere at the start of that game.
As far as exploring the sky as a level...well, everybody likes floating castles and islands, at least. Maybe at one point, illusion or not, the castle itself manages to take to the sky? A certain boss fight could be mid-air as it falls back to the ground, or as you yourself are descending.

I certainly agree that the sky shouldn't always be red ... that'd be just too oppressive and overbearing. As Purityweirdsoul mentioned, gleaming white light to filter through the stained glass windows would be most welcome to invigorate the mood and senses ... all depending on what rooms/areas Miriam discovers and what beauty or evil lies within them.
What I find intriguing about the Bloodstained sky is the odd mix of black, white and red clouds in the picture. I like to think that even the powerful Mother Nature herself is being influenced by dark, foreboding forces to form such a strange weather system that lingers over the castle and beyond. But what if some of the clouds aren't what they appear to be? ...
Black Clouds - What might appear to be dark clouds could actually be swarms of flesh-eating bugs that can lay waste to people/animals what locusts do to crops. Imagine skeletons/bones randomly dropping from the sky and crashing onto the floor as Miriam explores the castle grounds.
White Clouds - Perhaps white clouds may be huge gatherings of unholy discarnate spirits that will assimilate or freeze anyone who dares to enter their space.
Red Clouds - Blood of the deceased infused with sinful magic producing red rain. Since this rain gets absorbed by the soil and roots, the vegetation develops an insatiable thirst for blood. Who knows what kind of malignant plants and trees may have mutated or evolved as a result? The rain could even tie in with the blood fountain located near to the castle.
What happens if there's a thunderstorm? The discarnate spirits become bluish electric-charged entities that descend from the sky and go in search of wayfarers to electrocute before whisking them back into the sky of doom.
Then there's the frost! The night mist freezes on the castle windows and forms into fractal haunted faces of those who've been recently murdered.
