Hi all,
Just wanted to hear the general consensus on what y'all's all-time favorite Castlevanias are.
For me it's Portrait of Ruin, with SoTN in a very close second. Though Aria & Dawn were fantastic and fun, but there was too much grinding and spawn farming involved when you had to track down all the souls. With PoR, it took everything that was awesome about SoTN, and everything that was awesome about the old-school CV titles, and turned it into a game, with 2 simultaneous players.
What are your thoughts?

For me...roughly:
1. CV3/Symphony/Rondo - they're all very good. Probably can't choose.
2. OoE - objectively improved/better than SotN as an Igavania game in several ways.
3. Closely behind Ecclesia, if any at all would be AoS, PoR, DoS.
4. LoI/CoD/CotM/The Adventure ReBirth.
5. Harmony of Dissonance/Dracula X (Vampire's Kiss)/Bloodlines.
6. CV1/CV2/Harmony of Despair.
7. CV4.
-very large gap-
-games I haven't even played before-
46. Judgment
47. Everything LoS

I feel like LoS had the best story by far and Óscar Araujo is an incredibly talented composer. My most memorable games are Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin. I took so many "sick days" in school just to stay home and play those. lol Castlevania Chronicles and Rondo of Blood are my favorite classic games. I have to say though that Harmony of Despair is my favorite. It is incredibly lacking in many areas but just being able to play with my girlfriend every time I venture into the gameworld is just awesome, we've never played without each other. It could only be better if it was coop story, so I have a feeling (depending on how it is implemented) that Bloodstained could be my favorite game. Here we are:  |

I like the Aria and Dawn of Sorrow games the most. The only things that bother me about them are the grind for souls and having to draw seals on the bosses in Dawn in order to defeat them.

My Castlevania career is limited to Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, Symphony of the Night, and the PSP remake of... was it Dracula X?
Anyway, among those four, my favorite was probably Order of Ecclesia, despite it being the only one of the four I didn't beat.

SotN, SC3, Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, OoE and Lament of Innocence at no specific order, they are just too good. Honorable mention to Dracula X Chronicles/Rondo of Blood, but for some reason they didn't have the same impact in me.

Harmony of Despair is definitely my most played, so I think I can say that is my favorite..
But I love Lords of Shadow 2..And I also love Portait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia... It is hard to choose just one!

SoTN is hands down the best Castlevania game. That game came out 18 years ago (1997) and still holds a top 10 spot of my all tiem favorite games.
