Ok this is really pissing me off, my psp clock resets every time i turn it on and i know that usually is because of a dead watch battery in everything else, theres no info online, its not mentioned in any of the youtubes ive watched, i know there is a battery because i can see it when i take the umd cover off but it looks like the only way to get to it is to take the entire thing apart and tech support just told me to look at the blog (there is nothing on the blog) after waiting 30 minutes to just confirm if there is a watch battery in a psp 2000 and if so is there an easier way to switch it out (they say they dont have anything on the handhelds)
>_< grrr i just want my psp to remember the time

I don't think there is anything other than a Lithium battery, mine does it from time to time. If you want it to not do it you have to put it in rest mode but keep it charged/charging so that the battery never completely dies. That works for me at least. Does it happen to you when the battery hasn't been drained?

My sega dreamcast does it EVERY time too. ...um, you took the umd laser off? You've got guts, I get nervous swapping out HDDs and memory cards.

Im a technician, it wasnt very difficult you just have to watch the ribbon cables
But the dreamcast i do know how to fix, unfortunately it takes a specific battery and soldering

Ah, gotcha (about you being a tech. The ribbon cable part just made me think of a Resi typewriter).
Glad to know there is a fix. I'm in no rush though, I only play Zombie Revenge and Sword of the Berserk on it anyway.

On the leftmost side, you will see a door. You can open this by pressing gently on a small button, also located on the left corner side of the console. Behind that door is a (usually) black lithium ion battery, generally in the range of 2300 - 2600 MaH, standard. This is your primary power source when mobile, and needs to be replaced occasionally if it is failing to hold a charge. Replacements can be purchased within fair ranges of affordability online, so that's the good news. If you are having issues with keeping the clock set to a proper date and time, this is most likely the core of your problem. The internal clock only resets if the battery has been drained for over a full day (24 hours), and most consoles tend to last about 2-3, when in full powered down mode. Please do bear in mind, that even if a console is powered off, your battery will continue expending trace amounts of energy, by simply being connected. To prevent this issue in the future, please replace your battery. If you plan to leave the console off for an extended time, it is advisable to withdraw the battery from the console's shell, and store it in a dry, cool location, away from direct heat sources. Further regarding cost, last I'd checked, a first party replacement was less than $15.00 USD. I could walk you through the fix, if you'd like.
