Igarashi has made sure to be able to retain control of his IP, so it is possible for him to create a continuous series with Bloodstained. We already have a confirmed 2 games, a prequel and the main KS game. I know the game hasn't come out yet, so we don't know how exactly the game will be, and there's the fact that Igarashi wants this to be the game he's remembered for. What do you see happening after release? Would you want Bloodstained to be turned into novels/movies/manga/etc? More sequel/prequel games? Another type of game entirely? What if another Kickstarter is launched to fund further games/expansions, would you be okay with that?
I'm just wondering what the community's thoughts are on this continuing as a series.
I know this Kickstarter was originally used to measure interest in this genre and that a publisher is going to pay for the rest, but it seems quite a few people like the option of there being a Kickstarter.

If it is successful I would say the chances of there being more is highly likely.
I would just expect more games most likely I wouldn't count on a manga since they are primarily aiming at a western audience. Maybe novels and possibly movies if it got REALLY popular... probably just more games though.

I'd like a manga, and maybe an anime, but only AFTER bloodstained has been confirmed to be a success. We've seen how much trouble it can be to bite off more than one can chew with the Red Ash/M#9 troubles.

I'd like a manga, and maybe an anime, but only AFTER bloodstained has been confirmed to be a success. We've seen how much trouble it can be to bite off more than one can chew with the Red Ash/M#9 troubles. A good thing that MN9 did is show people around the world the mistakes of what not to do with a new IP that fans have helped made possible in the first place. I personally hope that even if Igarashi is not completely in charge of all the sequels/spinoffs/whatever, that they keep the open and honest communication with the fans via the forums/website to continue helping the series grow and show other gaming companies the (hopefully) good possibilities that come from it. It is pretty refreshing to know that they are actively listening to us, although I can imagine how it could be difficult to keep up with all the programming/designing and such. There's a lot of modes/features in this game alone. I wonder if people would be okay if some of the less popular modes are cut in a sequel. Although, since a lot of assets are already being made for this game, it could be possibly be reused to keep improving from it like they did with Castlevania.

First game isn't even out and people are already theroycrafting the sequel LOL Anyway it seems clear to me from interviews and what not that IGA is forward thinking enough that assuming Bloodstained does well there will be more. I'm sure he's leaving the appropriate story hooks in the game to make a sequel have an easy jumping off point (whilst still producing a solid ending for this game). On a side note, I never understood why Inafune took heat for that MN9 cartoon. Launching TV shows with or shortly after (which usually means you have to start planning things before the main product/game comes out) the release of a major product is a pretty standard thing across entertainment history. The Mega Man IP was at its strongest when you had merchandise and other stuff out in the open alongside the games. Given that it wasn't using any Kickstarter money nor were many if any of the staff working on the game was going to be involved in the show, I can only assume a lot of people were upset because it played against the "little guy vs the man" narrative than anything immoral or irresponsible Inafune did. It was and continues to be such a strange reaction to me that was never fully based in reality.

About MN9, he is even planning a live-action movie, Im serious.
IGA stated in interviews that he wants to do a sequel if this game is sucessful. Also he said that he can't recycle assets from past games (Konami), but he implied that he will recycle assets from Bloodstained if a new game comes to happen.
I would like to see a series about this and maybe even spin-offs. I want as many good games as possible and coming from IGA it isn't too difficult.

Never hurts to have too much discussion! It can also help give the developers/IGA an overall idea of how the community feels about certain topics. Hope more people participate/share their thoughts as well.
I have no doubt that they're going to leave certain things vague in order to expand on the on future games. We know so far that demons have attacked 10 years prior to the main game. We also know this castle was made for Miriam, so I wonder how they're going to explain castles in the future games. Maybe the castle itself has borrowed elements from a demon castle from Hell itself? Also, I am not too familiar with alchemist mythology myself so I don't any speculation from that yet.
I agree that MN9 tends to get over exaggerated heat over anything. I think that is the result of a community divided within itself and also with the company. It is made worse by the fact that the fans had funded their main IP, and there had been many mistakes made since the development of their first project. Still though, what's done is done and much has hopefully been learned. I'm hoping the Army of the Night continues to grow strong, even after the initial release!

I would love to see other games after this is out and possibly even smaller games that show more about the world. I would support a manga or anime for Bloodstained but I don't feel those would be what I want most. I would love to see a novel or something for the 10 years before Miriam when the demons first appeared or go through the past of Zangetsu and when he lost his eye and when he lost his arm. Or maybe even the downfall of the alchemists.
Also I would love to possibly see plushies and/or figurines of characters and familiars.

I've no meaningful objection to a sequel. Perhaps my tune will change after playing Bloodstained or seeing the ending, but for now I'd be open to Bloodstained 2 (plus smaller side-games) if the first is a success.
Not sure how I feel about the idea of another Kickstarter for the next Bloodstained, but at least I'd hope that it won't be anywhere near as badly timed as Inafune's Red Ash Kickstarter. (Announced on a Saturday when most news outlets wouldn't report it, on the 4th of July when most Americans weren't at their computers, and in the middle of Shenmue 3's Kickstarter.)
Also, while it's not likely due to them only being made for characters who appear in Nintendo games, but I'd love it if amiibos for Miriam and other Bloodstained characters were made.

I'm all for thinking about sequels, but I want to see how this game does first before I recommend improvements or story direction or character expansion.
How would I want this series to expand other than sequels? Well, once this game comes out I'd love to see a short animated prequel. I also wouldn't mind reading some written novels.

I would love to have sequels of course, but not every year to keep things fresh, maybe every two or three years. I like the idea of a manga and maybe an animated film.

If the game is good I believe kickstarter backers would gladly support a sequel. Just don't make the Mighty no. 9 mistake and launch the kickstarter for your next game before the first one is out.
