I'm sorry, but I'm going to be "that guy", but I'll try not to be a jerk. Before I start let me state that I bought this game both digitally on PS4 and physically from Limited Run to support Koji Igarashi and his teams, and that I understand that a game's soundtrack is usually considered only secondary or tertiary to the actual gameplay.
Flat out I don't like the music in Curse of the Moon 2 (frankly I wish I could turn it off or download an alternate ost as dlc). I'm fighting back saying a lot of mean comments when trying to describe why. I know this can be subjective, but the template of all of the memorable melodies and catchy hooks for CotM 1 and Ritual of the Night are gone. Is this the same series? What happened? [ As a composer myself I understand how challenging making good music can be, but this is a spiritual sequel franchise to a series known for it's amazing music. It's so irritating to me that I'm reminded of Harmony of Dissonance's soundtrack. Maybe it would sound better with real instruments, but did we not learn our lesson from that game's musical mistakes?
Please consider Yoko Shimomura, Motoi Sakuraba, Yuzo Koshiro, Jake "Virt" Kaufman, or hell bring back Kinuyo Yamashita (who hasn't worked on a Castlevania since the very first game)!

I agree with you (although not as harshly) that the CotM2 soundtrack was the weakest of the three, but it wasn't like it was bad. The others just set up a great expectation.
In a recent interview (check the external article section of this forum) Yamane said RotN was her last up-tempo game.
Virt stiffed RotN when he didn't produce anything like was planned for the KS. 505 reached out to him about it. Maybe he will try and make it up in a sequel, but if I were the production team, I wouldn't depend on someone who has proven to be undependable.
The IntiCreates sound team gave us an amazing CotM1 and a couple of RotN contributions. When they fall short, I'd rather encourage them with telling them what you like about the first CotM ost rather than being discouraging with comments about the second one. That has a higher chance of getting them to do more.

I've been reading up on M.Y., and she's been saying some horrible things. I am going to be a jerk here... as far as I'm concerned, I hope she never comes back. I will also never say her name again, and have removed it from my previous post.

The soundtrack in CotM1 is definitely better. Agree with Mike that the OST for part 2 is still good though. Kind of reminds me of the SotN soundtrack which was the absolute pinnacle in terms of sound design for Castlevania. None of the games after it surpassed it and I think the same concept applies to the CotM games. Would have been great if it had been able to match it in terms of quality like Megaman X2 did for MMX1 for example but sadly wasn't in the cards. To me personally I thought the downgrade in quality from CotM 1 to 2 wasn't nearly as bad the downgrade from SotN to BS:RotN but to each their own. Still a great game if you can accept the music for what it is.
