Bloodstained on the Steam Deck works, but with an odd caveat

So I just picked this game up from a friend sending me the Steam code (since he already owns it on Switch), and I got to play it on my Steam Deck for most of the day yesterday. Absolutely ADORING this game. I must have put in at least 12 hours on it yesterday.
It runs great on the Steam Deck, and was totally plug and play. But there's one weirdness:
That screen shows up sometimes. I think it's when the game is trying to play a pre-rendered video, but I'm not sure. It appears immediately after I start the game from scratch (before the developer logos), and I saw it once right after beating the first boss, on the ship.
Anyone have any idea what, if anything, I could do to fix this? Some folks I showed this to suggested that it might be an issue with the Windows emulation layer that the Deck uses, since it runs Arch Linux and uses Proton to play Windows games.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
