From what I understand about Crossplay, GOG will allow you to play with your Steam friends. Is there really any reason not to use GOG? It's DRM free, which means you can install it as many times as you want. This is a link to the GOG Galaxy website.

I'm getting it via Steam... but I may forego another $60 to get a physical GOG version... After all, a physical PC game that's DRM free... that's like one in a million, right?

So Steam or GOG, which should I get?
I don't play PC games but will be by the time this thing rolls around.

Honestly, the only reason to get Steam over GOG is if you are already heavily invested in Steam and want all of your games showing up in your Steam library. And since you can add non-Steam games to Steam's library... yeah, there's really no reason to get the Steam version over GOG. Well, I guess if you really like Steam achievements...
GOG is DRM free. Steam is not. So that's a clear win in GOG's favor. The only other major factor would be price, which in this case is equal.

I'm going GoG just because i have quite a few games from them already and only a couple on Steam. Plus i like the fact they're DRM free.
the only "risk" i see is that GoG may not have the lasting power of Steam. I don't know if game sales is their only form of revenue generation for GoG. Steam (Valve) obviously has other ways of raking in cash... though maybe Steam is now their primary income source

I'm really conflicted which one is better, both have their ups and downs I want to have frequent update on the game, like patches and stuff If GOG can do that, might as well go for the GOG instead of Steam, I only have a few games on Steam

according to: www.gog.com/galaxyGOG GALAXY is a fully optional client to install, play and update your games. It also offers online multiplayer, achievements, chat, game-time tracking and more - but it’s up to you which features you want to use.it seems GOG can provide game patches.

Don't forget also, you can load non steam games into your steam library. If you use it as a hub to launch all your games you'll still be able to do so even with the gog version!

You can add non steam games into your library, but they are not supported by Steam. It also won't show up on any computer you run your Steam account on.
I'm getting both, by the way.

I plan to keep my GoG version in the thumb drive that's on my key ring... So the game is always with me=)

Want to ask, if we get the GOG version with the exclusive backer edition, can we keep downloading the content over and over again? because the exclusive backer are considered as DLC here

You could theoretically do this at a library or something too. Or you know, at a friends house, or whatever. Maybe you didn't realize you were going to be somewhere for as long as you were, and now you really wish you had brought your game with you, but you didn't (maybe you lost your thumb drive), however there's a gaming computer around and you have the perfect method to play the game.

Good old Games. I might buy a second copy of the game sometime later in a really big sale, but only if the two versions aren't compatible for online play.

In fact, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is selling better on GOG than on Steam.

Plus if its DRM free you could just save the files in the cloud right? Google Drive, one drive, dropbox etc. Always accessible!
