Was the IGA Backpack DRM Error on PS4 fixed?

That was a huge dealbreaker for me when the DLC released.

I take my PS4 with me often when I have to go work outside and do not come home for a long time. Because of that, I do not always have a place with an Internet Connection.
Now the issue was that it was reported that when you buy the DLC on PS4, beat the Boss and get the weapon, the game will NEED to do a online check first on every boot up for some unknown reason. If you have no internet connection, then your savefile will get "locked" until you connect your console back to the internet.

For me (and others) this is of course a serious issue and a big "No" which ended up in me and a couple others not buying the DLC.
Later it was revealed that this is a "bug" and was not intentional, and was supposed to be fixed in the future. But then the whole Switch debacle came up and all resources were put to that! And the update for PS4, that was promised for the end of august, just came around a week ago in mid december! However, the DRM Issue was not listed in the Patch Notes.
